I really think HYBE just likes to do minimalistic and simple concepts most of the times. And sometimes simple and minimalistic is better than a lot of noise and chaos that can be very overwhelming.
it can actually depends on what you prefer, in my case I like very elaborated comebacks and also minimalistic stuff like this but because of what people is used to see in kpop comebacks, I think it's understandable if someone gets surprised because of the minimalistic concept.
