(It's recommended you use the most you can, it can get pretty insanely strong later on...) Also, you don't have to press five times. The limit is five, but you can use it 1-5 if you press Q or the Memori Button itself. Hope it helped!

Something that was really cool is the little Memento Mori symbols on the floor changed with the synergies he picked up. Like after Matt got brimstone, the symbols changed to brimstone which is just awesome
Since you haven't seen the og Samael ending (untainted version), I'll just summarize it if you aren't on track of seeing it yourself: It plays out the same as what happens, with Samael appearing before Isaac's skeleton, offering his hand, but with Isaac accepting it, cutting to a scene of what's implied to be the afterlife. In other words, Isaac moving on. This Tainted ending, meanwhile, twists that by having Isaac, under Dogma's influence, refuse his help and banishes him to become his tainted counterpart, while he wakes up from that into Basement 1, continuing his dying dream as a result.

So basically Memento mori allows to place connected marks, up to 5 Activating it makes him dash through the marks and the path connecting them, dealing damage to everything in the way Double tapping activates the dash early After reaching the end of the path he shoots a projectile The damage scales depending on how many marks he dashed through It also has many interesting and unique synergies
The editing on this video has been fantastic Matt and of course the gameplay too, props to you and your editors for supplying us with this exemplary content as of late.
Ending spoiler: I think the ending is meant to represent how death came for Isaac, him being a skeleton showed how he hadn't moved on yet. But Isaac, being tainted by dogma and belief that he is evil, was unable to move on, and thus "rejected" death and the peace that comes with it. The ending shot was showing how until he makes peace, he will be reliving the same thing (aka starting a new run) over and over again until he finds peace.
the ending with the normal version is Isaac taking Samael's hand and moving on, so i guess this makes Tainted Samael either a bad ending or the prequel to the ending with normal Samael.

Play fiend folio and start with the item Risk’s reroll, you can use it in item rooms, you’ll get teleported to a boss fight, if you manage to win it you’ll get a higher quality item
so when it comes to tainted Samael, the more range you have, the bigger your scythe gets. this characters amazing and has a lot of synergies to it. i'd say you should play it more sometime. also, if you position your memento mori in front of a curse room door, you can enter it without taking damage if you do it right
If you double tap memento mori you’ll start the dash thing immediately. But it does a lot more damage if you use all 5 sigils so for boss killing all 5 is usually the way to goz Btw you get a short window of I-frames after finishing the dash so you can get free curse rooms.
Cool vid, kinda strange that you played the tainted version before the normal one. The fact that you have the tainted version means you unlocked it with base Samael, I hope this means you're uploading a video of him and that you didn't just do a whole run off camera to unlock the tainted one for this video.

I dunno if Mattman realized this during the video (I watched it, but my ADHD makes it a bit hard to focus), or if anyone has said it before, but I've been playing the character for a bit now and I think the most unappreciated detail with him is that you can pick up items with the scythe. IE; if there is a rock between you and a pickup (even chests), you can smack the item with the scythe and pick it up. The only thing this doesn't work on is items on podiums, so rooms with spikes and rocks around the podium still require you to use HP or a bomb to get to the item. But if you have enough range on the scythe, you can save bombs by smacking chests and picking up items with the scythe. You can even use it to unlock chests and open spiked chests without taking damage. It's a small thing, but it can be really really useful when you're low on bombs!
Honestly I like the idea that Samuel is the Guiding Vessel meant to bring Issac into the afterlife from the Issac's selfcreated purgatory, but eventually being dragged away by the remaining dogma.
5 dash memento mori is some of the best boss dps out there even without any upgrades. You can easily do hush in like a minute with just base Memento Mori it's insane

I've noticed that in every single run you do, you will place a bomb then push it towards what you want to blow up. Is there some weird tech that I'm not aware of, or do you just do that for fun?
hey matt, i have a theory about the mother. Basically when getting the first knife piece Isaac become the lost right, Isaac is trying to not be cought so he can get a knife piece without being seen by becoming/acting like a ghost. When getting the second piece, Isaac is cought and his mother tries to stop him from doing anything stupid, his mother being the shadow thing. when the knife is acquired he actually kills his mother not in a imaginary sence. her mom being fat she falls on her and decomposes. isaac starts imagining things as he is running out of oxygen. his escape act is to killing his already dead and rotten mother to escape. he kills his mother but dies from all the diseases from a rotten body and loss of oxygen.
If you had seen the special ending with the non tainted version probably you would have understood the ending, i really advise you to do it, you have to follow the same route
Tip: you can get free Curse Rooms with Memento Mori cause you have ahort invincibility after slashes. (Double tapping activates it even with one sigil drawn.)
