During the editing of the footage of this short story, the crew discovered a mysterious figure. During one lone take, our camera passed the old courtroom. At one of the benches was a figure whose silhouette you can see. Watch the end credits to see the footage. If you rewatch the film, you can spot it at the 10:02 mark. That was pretty cool to catch an entity on film. I finally got to visit the Whaley House a few months ago but it was closed. Didn’t get an eerie feeling but DEFINITELY a heavy, sorrowful presence just walking by and looking through some of the windows
You done a magnificent job of portraying the Whaley family in a way how they lived in the house. I've work there myself before the pandemic and I have seen a lot I can tell you and plus I know their story very well. The Haunting elements and music, that's what I imagine a movie of them would have. Portraying mr. And mrs. Whaley and their two daughters is just amazing. And I can tell you the mysterious figure in the courtroom. Well I had a lot of people tell me about seeing this figure and I believe it's the spirit of either Thomas Whaley, Yankee Jim or Thomas Whaley's first son Frank Whaley.
At first I thought it was just a cheap horror but it had the complicated subplots. The wife’s criticism on her husband’s “cheap” tendency. Her concern of social judgment. The estranged daughter vs the socially fit sister. Good job!
It's good to see Leslie Horan again, in "Whaley." Hard to believe it's been 20+ years. I'm a fan from back in the day, in the late 1990s, when the Internet was new and VHS tapes were common. I'm embarrassed to say that I lost my autographed photo of Leslie in a move years ago. It would be really cool if I could find another... As I recall, I first saw Leslie in a 1996 Lee Optical eyeglasses commercial where she was saying something about getting a good deal on frames and "looking smarter," and there was a Fall '96 episode of the multiverse-hopping TV show Sliders (the one directed by the son of Star Trek's Leonard Nimoy), and then the daytime soap opera General Hospital. The Internet was different back then, in the late '90s. AOL was the big ISP and hub for many using a home PC with a dial-up modem. In Feb. '97, I remember an AOL site had sound clips from the GH cast, and one was "Hi, this is Leslie Horan from General Hospital. Happy Valentine's Day, AOL!" For a few years a GH fan ran the official website for Leslie that had some general info and news. FYI: RUclips has some very low quality digitized VHS video clips from GH in 4th quarter '96 to 2nd quarter '97, which brought back old memories. On GH, her onscreen antagonist was actually a real life friend from before they went to Hollywood. For six months, Leslie was part of a storyline in General Hospital regarding local mobster Sonny Corinthos and his ex, Brenda. She, Miranda, was brought in by Sonny in his plan to interfere with his ex-girlfriend's marriage. Miranda had married Sonny's ex's fiancé, Jax, a few years before and then was presumed dead in a bombing. Some GH fans weren't very pleased to have some stranger show up and put a favored romantic couple in jeopardy (Brenda & Jax), but how can you dislike the soap theatrics and chaos of a mobster bringing out the presumed dead fiancée of the groom right at the wedding to stop his ex from getting married? From memory, IMDB, Google, and RUclips, here are some filmography summary details of my own interpretation: "East LA Warriors" (1989) is a credit, but there's nothing onscreen that I could see, unless it's a deleted scene or a non-speaking appearance in a crowd. RUclips has this movie. In "Repo Jake" (1990) a young Leslie did a two-minute scene as Lea, a naive aspiring actress from a burger joint in L.A. being taken advantage of by the movie's desperate antagonist, an indebted sleazy pimp/pornographer, until fate (Jake) intervened. In the movie "Prima Donnas," (1995) as Maggie, she was a friend of the lead who had a knack for drawing caricatures while cruising the PCH from Malibu and in choosing outrageous debutante dresses in downtown LA. She was in many shots in some scenes, especially in the beginning and in the comedic action-filled finale. In "Family Album" (mostly part 2), she played Anne, a moody pregnant cult teen daughter of her Hollywood film star mother, and then, um, went with a friend's father, to the dismay of her family, but she was determined to have a successful family of her own, in her own way. In "Widow's Kiss," as Kelly Givens, she was a college student who came back to L.A. and was the girlfriend of the protagonist whom she thought wasn't mature enough, and then helped him grow up and deal with a deadly stepmother in the LA-Long Beach area. In an episode of Mike Hammer, Private Eye, as Haley Curtis, she was the assistant of her murdered scientist father and was disrespected by her fiancé. Mike Hammer really stuck up for her while on the case in his usual tough and irreverent way. In an episode of Sliders, as Heather Hanley, she was a school teacher looking out for a kid who recently lost his father while the kid's older multiverse-hopping self tried to make things better. The older and younger kid understandably had a big crush on her. In an episode of Murder, She Wrote, she was a scheming bad girl, Nancy, who eventually got busted by you know who for doing you know what. In an episode of Diagnosis Murder, as Ruth Chandler, she was the daughter of a mysterious patient. In "Max Q: Emergency Landing," as Melissa, she was a worried wife with other astronaut families during a space shuttle accident. In the movie "Shaded Places/The Giving Tree," as Sara, she was dealing with a difficult event from the past year and the recent loss of a troubled friend after a fateful earthquake, and she gradually found her way through it while staying with some old school friends who were also dealing with their own problems. Filmed at Sable Ranch, Santa Clarita, CA. There was also a commercial for $100 Grand Bar, as a shocking & bold beauty show contestant answering a question, and one for Celestial Seasonings tea, cheerfully describing how nice the wild berry decaf tea was. There could very well be others beyond the three commercials, but are unknown. Leslie appeared onscreen with Angela Lansbury, Stacy Keach (Mike Hammer), Joe Flanigan ("Family Album," Stargate Atlantis), Jacklyn Smith, Michael Ontkean (Twin Peaks), Jerry O'Connell (Sliders, Star Trek Lower Decks), Neil Denis ("Max Q", Rya'c the son of Teal'c in Stargate SG-1), Maurice Bernard (GH Sonny Corinthos), Vanessa Marcil (GH Brenda Barrett), and Gerald McRaney (Murder, She Wrote, NCIS LA). OK, that's my fan story. To me, those were good memories over the years, and her onscreen presence is appreciated. Hopefully, Leslie will do more in the years to come.

Gosh, this is so beautifully filmed!! The music is also perfection, beautiful yet eerie. Soaked with wistfulness & longing.....even tinged with evil notes (right before the gunshot). I enjoyed this a lot. While an acting moment here & there sounded a bit forced, I felt this was more to make the film more 'period-appropriate'......the 1880s. Its a sad story, its a true shame that if the ghosts do indeed haunt there....that they feel they cannot Move On....or got 'lost' somehow & cannot Move On. I pray they do, someday, do so.

This one was good. I lived in a haunted house before and it was scary as heck. My sister saw a little boy dressed in red suit one time and also we were all sitting in the living room when a planter pot fell down right where one of my sisters would be sleeping right where her head would have been. it was a rope planter hanger that a lot of people had in the 80's and 90's and the rope wasn't cut or broken anywhere it was lifted off the hook and dropped. By the way, whatever "shunning" done would be enforced by the women of the community because it was they, not the men, who governed the social sphere.
This man is being de-masculated by his wife. He needs to take control of his home and his family and be a man. The bigger issue they should of gotten the hell out of that house.
Haha! After watching this all the way through, I can say that I find it hilarious when horror creators get so wrapped up in what they're doing that they start to see ghosts and monsters everywhere! I mean, as long as we're playing this game, I say the fuzzy and out-of-focus "entity" is a cat! There's a very obvious tail and two pointy ears! What? You don't see it??? Well prove that it's NOT a cat! I did enjoy the film. But don't let these old tales and your imagination get the best of you.

I have to agree with you💯 A little overrated, and the acting, from the Mother and Daughter to be married? I just couldn’t seem to warm to either character. Poor choice in casting. They didn’t have big plump lips, or highlights in their hair! 👄 Her dialogue may have been close? But the way she executed her line’s? Sounded like a spoilt rich brat, but from this day and age!🤦🏻♀️ It had the potential to be so much more than it was! The Whaley House, was, and still is? A beautifully and well kept historic building❤️ It is a shame the casting was poor.

Concept was good…Props, cinematography etc. The acting was a bit forced. Just my constructive criticism.

It is a shame the casting was poor.
