Nepomniachtchi vs Carlsen | Game 11 - 2021 FIDE World Chess Championship

- Опубликовано: 29 сен 2024
- World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway defends his title against challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi of Russia in Game 11 of the 2021 World Chess Championship match that is being held in Dubai. It's a best of 14 games where the first player to earn 7.5 points earns the lion's share (60%) of a $2.24 million prize pool, and the title of "World Chess Champion". An Italian Game is aboard with Nepomniachtchi and Carlsen centralizing their major pieces in preparation for the first tension between pawn. By move 20 all central pawns can capture and each player must carefully weigh the different possible structures. In such cases, the important question one must ask is: “Within what structure will my pieces function best?”.

Your coverage of the championship has been excellent! With HALF A MILLION followers, we all beg you to post more frequently. I personally love your rapid games (15 minutes). Get a sponsor or something if you need motivation. 471000 RUclips says, that's plenty many of us!
Jerry - Amazing job over the whole thing. You are the GOAT commentator.
Agreed!

YOU'VE BEEN ON TWITCH THIS WHOLE TIME?? You mean I could have been listening to this insightful commentary live instead of the insipid broadcasts with forced conversations and awkward jokes on the major RUclips channels? I'm so glad I know for the next tournament 🙂.
Yes, Jerry’s streams are great!
I occasionally looked at official FIDE coverage and while it was undoubtedly on a very high level chess-wise (who am I to argue with Vishy and Anna?), there was too much of unrelated jibber jabber, selling merch etc. Jerry is just about chess, sometimes throws a little joke in to not make it so boring. IMO great balance in general.
Thank you so much for your coverage Jerry; both live and through RUclips. When I've not been working I've caught all your coverage and, as ever, it's been fantastic.
well done Jerry, thank you so much for covering the event... It was a beating and a half for Nepo ... wishing him a quick recovery
Yeah the blunders over the last few games were heart breaking especially after the high quality openers.
Thank you very much for your coverage Jerry!
Thank you Jerry for another excellent World Championship coverage!
Of all the coverage this was the best, well done. Fascinating match and for some reason I was routing for Carlsen... he did not disappoint!
im not a professional player, but nepos blunders in the whole tournament were in most cases avoidable (with the huge exception to the first game he lost of course)
i hope he will be the next candidate as well& show that he is better!
great championship, i enjoyed every game a lot, especally when reviewing with chessnetwork:)
With only one bad move, I believe this was the most accurate Carlsen has ever been in any WCC match. Truly a well-deserved victory. Only one person has the potential to unseat Carlsen and I think that's Firouzja.
He literally played the most accurate WCC game in history during game 3. It was in the news.
Rapport?
@@Hy-jg8ow Nah
thank you for providing us with great commentaries the whole way through 🙏🙏 you provided a much needed respite from the pain of finals week
Thanks for everything Jerry, see you next time.
It's almost like you should spend the time you're given to think. Playing this fast is trolling.
When you promote a pawn to a queen, do they exchange the pawn piece for an actual queen piece or does it stay a pawn with the assumed role of queen?
Chane into an actual queen piece
In the end chess won. Well, that’s my position, anyway. Jerry, your commentary made everything crystal clear. Except maybe sometimes who was black and who was white. But what does that matter? Chess doesn’t give a hoot about such superficial things.
Sven Magnus Carlsen embodied the legacy, passion, heart, soul & spirit of all those “Norse Master Craftsmen” that sculpted the most renown and most sought-after in the world “Isles of Lewis Chessmen” 1150-1200 AD chess sets…for being “The GOAT” of all the “World Chess Champions”!!! “Hail to “The King” Sven Magnus Carlsen (2021 FIDE World Chess Champion) and Norway!!!”
Taking one from Ben Finegold here. The chess community would have complained if they were all draws, they complained that nepo lost & they probably would have complained if magnus lost. These people don't enjoy chess. They enjoy complaining! Lol.
I appreciate you not placing spoilers in the video title (unlike certain Gotham-based youtube personalities).
I appreciate you feeling the need to put someone else down to give a complement.
He makes a solid point though... it's common courtesy
@@donkeykong315 I feel your concern. I was genuinely upset at the time I wrote that. In my time zone, matches are overnight (and finish at 5am). I woke up, opened youtube, looking forward to watching Jerry's replay summary... and Gotham spoiled the result on my subscriptions page. It upset me.
@@zalibecquerel3463 ok. Then post that on gotham’s video. Don’t post it here.
Respect to Ian for smilingly congratulating Carlsen on his victory, true sportsman
There should be a monument to Jerry featuring a colossal statue atop a plinth adorned with a Latin inscription reading Desine prius quam concias, aut te quadrabit Antonius, which translates to "stop before you chop, or Anton will square you."
Wow.
Agreed.
Best commentary way better than GM recaps of these games.
Jerry is prob on GM level at least in blitz and bullet (if you can consider it that way), he just did not play apparently for a long time as professional player so his title is not up to his actual level. He also is long time, many years chess youtuber, streamer, commentator, so his level in that is very high.
No more daily ChessNetwork :(
To be fair, one of the best things about Jerry is that he values quality above quantity.
Hello Jerry, thank you very much for such a detailed analysis full of joy that you had been providing during this championship. Hope you are fine and great.
thanks! good job! who already misses Jerry?
A bit of anti-climatic ending to this world championship, which started with interesting games. At least now people will stop complaining about all drawn games xd thank you for covering it Jerry, great job!
Been watching your coverage of the World Chess Championship for years. Truly a delight each year.
JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY JERRY (chanting)
Jerry, it wouldn’t be a WCC without your coverage. Thanks for taping and posting the streams on twitch so I could watch the whole game as it unfolded. You make high level chess understandable for me. I appreciate you
I think Magnus chose to enter the rook and pawn ending out of respect for Ian. I refuse to believe Magnus didn't see the Rd6.
I was wondering about that as it was pretty easy even for me to calculate. Black takes the pawn (exf6+) and it's an easy checkmate after that.
Still the best chess channel to learn from. Thank you for everything Jerry, merry christmas!
10:17 Chess is such a beautiful game. The fact that the peices have very simple, first thing you'd think of, type moves, and yet a pawn far away from the action in the center changes the entire game based on which of two adjacent squares it is on, is just so wonderful.
The classical chess games are a little long to watch for me so your videos are perfect recaps. I hope you will make more game covering videos, not just world championship, I really love to watch your analyses :)
A theory on Carlsen’s Nf5 move was that he didn’t want to take such a win on a gold platter like that, he knew the press would tear Ian apart losing like that, basically progressively losing in a worse way every game, so he let the game drag out into a winning endgame
Very naive theory if you think he cares. He did not become champion by being merciful
@@SuperMerlotand he wasn't exactly surrendering his champ status by showing mercy either. Would be an excellent graceful tact
It's a good theory, but really I think Carlsen just didn't see the rook lift until a few moves later or he saw it but wasn't sure it's the best way, it's easy for us with the engine showing the top moves, but he still has to find them all and make sure he doesn't blunder, he knew the knight jump was winning and so he went with it, but he couldn't see that annoying pawn push deeper in the line which made it a bit more complicated, but it the end both ways were winning, Magnus simplified the game into a winning endgame where he knows he can't blunder, and even thou it takes longer, it's safer and in the end a win is a win.
@@SuperMerlot could be, but also if I was in his position and knew I’d win even if I dragged it out, I’d save someone the embarrassment in a WC, I like to win from my own work more rather than being handed a win from a blunder. You’ll take it anyways, but it’s not as gratifying, at least for me and Carlsen also has mentioned he’s like that.
And as the comment below pointed out, he isn’t throwing his chances away by being merciful, he would’ve won no matter what but saving Ian from embarrassment over such a blunder would in fact be graceful, considering that it was clear he completely fell apart after game 6
@@tomatoisnotafruit5670 could also very well be the case lol, we shall never know :)
Jerry's calm and methodical approach to every game is what truly makes him a great commentator. I'll definitely be tunned in for the next championship
Thanks For your coverage Jerry and keep up the good work.
It was fun through game 6, after that it was kind of tragic and painful.
As always, it was a great pleasure to follow the WCC via your commentary, Jerry! Much appreciated.
Thanks so much, Jerry. Other chess channels were jumping straight to the stockfish recommendation or were spoiling the best moves right away. The way you explained things easily and discovered the best moves while thinking out loud was much more digestible for me. I appreciate all the hard work!
Thanks for all your work Jerry
Unfortunately, Game 2 was the only game that i found interesting. The marathon game was a curiosity but as soon as Ian traded two rooks for Magnus' queen, I was was convinced of what would follow and the end result. The coverage on this channel was calm and insightful. A first class job.
The similarity to the Capablanca-Lasker match 100 years ago is interesting. 1. four point margin of victory, 2. loser wins no games, 3. one complex game with competitive tension, one more interesting game after that, 4. after the first decisive result, the loser never finds their bearings again, 5. the winner made almost no mistakes and seemed unstoppable while the loser played short of what was expected of him, 6. the openings played seem to come from the same era.
Thus guy Nepo may not recover image wise after this. Caruana and the rest of them played much better in their matches for world champion.
I think Nepo is above caring about his image. He knows he did his best.
@@Ratchet2022 actually, he knows he did far from his best, 3 huge blunders in 3 games that no GM would ever make in a classical game with more than hour on the clock is Nepo's best? I don't think so.
Jerry you are the champion for teaching us all the small details 👍😄
Thank you very much for the time you spent covering the championship match. Hope you will be active on the channel this coming year. Cheers!
Thanks Jerry, it was your commentary 5 years ago that really got me into chess. I will always appreciate it.
Unfortunately never got to join one of your live streams😢 but your RUclips videos are legendary. A video about ur final thoughts about individual games, the series as a whole and the next WCC would be amazing. Videos from you (especially analysis videos) are invaluable! 🐐
Admirable of Nepo to open up the throttle full with the Italian. Also fascinating to see a medieval opening played with modern knowledge and skills.
You deserve a world title for best chess coverage.
Thanks, Jerry. I have learned so much from your commentary on these games.
congrats to magnus again for defending his title, hes a true goat. 5 titles and counting and not done is he.
Is he GOAT though? Kasparov has 6 titles and was no. 1 for 22 years.
@@BinaryRex18 yes he is no one can beat him now and hes past kasparov.
@@DJSavage978 GOAT doesn't just mean Elo, otherwise fabi would be the 3rd greatest player ever which is obviously untrue. Carlsen has not yet been at the top long enough to dislodge kasparov. If he gets 7 WC titles then I agree he's GOAT.
@@BinaryRex18 whatever man
Thanks for covering the championship, Jerry! Great as always.
Hopefully alireza lives up to the hype and we can see an epic match in 2023. The stakes will also be high for Magnus, as he will be looking to tie lasker's record.
Excellent summary analysis, I really enjoy and learn watching your videos, thanks a lot!
Really enjoyed the coverage from you for these games, well done.
Hey Jerry -- great stuff as always. Thanks for all 11 games.
I've been paying attention to the clock thru the several games, and it seems like Carlsen was almost always down on time. Is there an idea along the lines of "Magnus was just thinking/calculating better/more" throughout the match? Of course, he almost went overboard on the calculating in game 6 (twice), but it seems to me that the time differential was ususally in the same direction.
Magnus manages his time, he will identify the important moves on which the game pivots and invest time in them, calculating lines and re-re-rechecking. As you say, Magnus will often spend very large chunks of his time on just one or two vital moves. But is it going overboard, when small mistakes can so easily swing the game? Or it is that just the standard which has made him 5 times world champ? Nepo on the other hand has a habit of playing quickly, and it cost him dearly in this match. Two blunders came after only thinking for a few minutes, he seemingly missed problems that someone of his standard must surely have seen if he had played with the appropriate care and spent more time analysing the move. He had plenty of time in both instances but chose not to use it. Who am I to advise him, but it does seem to me that better use of his time is a way he could easily improve his game.
[26:00] Carlsen looks like a mad scientist genius.
Congratulations to him and his team.
Thank you so much Jerry for these videos. I always look forward to your analysis and learn loads.
Superb coverage. Great job Jerry. Keep up your good work. God bless.
Thank you so much for the coverage Jerry! Cheers!
Magnus both won and made the life record from 1-4 to 5-4 what a guy
Watched your whole series! So packed with quality info I'll end up re-watching someday I'm sure. Thanks for following this match.
jerry your the best... excelent comments
Wow he smacked him around pretty easy, few draws and all wins.
Thanks for the well detailed commentaries Jerry for 11 exiting games! Glad your voice was able to endure as well.. :)
Thank you Jerry, these videos were a gift!
10:18 This is a small part of what makes the game of chess so beautiful. A pawn: the weakest piece in the game, so weak it isn't even technically called a piece. And yet it makes all the difference on a combination happening farther away in the center of the board.
You're amazing, Jerry. Thank you.
Jerry, the best move after Qxd5 would be Qxd5. I‘m referring to 10:20.
Yeah was about to say that. I understand the deflection tactic is what he's trying to show but the example was uh, suspicious.
Jerry, this WCC I've been spectating every game live for the first time, but still I've always eagerly awaited your analysis at the end of each match day. Thank you for your efforts, you are the best chess youtuber by far in my opinion.
Thank you for the great coverage of the match!
Thanks for covering all the games. Your analysis is pitched at just the right level for me and I get a lot out of it.
Hi Jerry,(HERE IS) everyone, thank you for covening the world chess championship ! Good work !
thank you for whole series :)
Thank you! I really enjoy your insightful and colorful reviews.
Huge thanks for this series of videos ! :)
25:00 : no hope for team black
You meant "team white", right? :p
black can't bear the power of the white emperor leading his army!!!
I know practically nothing but the base rules about chess, but watched and enjoyed every match here. Can't wait till it happens again!
Jerry…. Thank You! You da real MVP🌟
25:01 "No hope for team black.." caught me off guard.
Great job, Jerry!
Who has the rounder head, Maurice Ashley or Karl Pilkington?
Upon further investigation, it has been determined that GM Ashley's head is actually more pear shaped. This is based on new information about how the land masses are spread out over Maurice's skull.
I am going to frame this comment above my bed
20:09 Jerry thinks trapped rooks are funny a lot, huh! hahaha
It is us who should thank you! Thanks for all you do
Super interesting commentary!! Thanks :)
Thank you so much Jerry! I look forward to the WCC mostly for your coverage. Keep up the great work.
Jerry is the best! Great job with this coverage.
Love this Jerry dude
Thanks for the coverage Jerry!
Thanks for the coverage!
Thanks for many hours on twitch during this WCC! We would thoroughly enjoy you analysing some of the earliest WCC games! Would be awesome.
Great video! A pleasure to watch and very instructive.
Thanks for your coverage Jerry!
I'd love to see some games from the upcoming rapid and blitz championships
Thanks mate.
Thanks for answering my questions on the live stream. It really helped me understand and enjoy the game more.
this world championship had everything in it!!! Absolute entertainment 💙💙💙
They should just skip all the WC's until Magnus is 40 and can't sit in a chair longer than fifteen minutes straight.
Poor Nepo
If you dare to challenge the gods, prepare to fall from the skies.
good game Carlsen and Well Done Nepimniachichi :-))
10:19 If the pawn were there I'd get a free queen
Excelent work! Congratulations Jerry and thank you!
Many thanks for analysing these games. Good bedtime reading on my tablet!
Nepo proved to be too little to ever be considered a world champion. Way too many blunders in multiple games that made it easy for Carslen to win.
I would even go as far as to say that Magnus was playing it slow and safe waiting for Nepo to blunder
chess rope-a-dope
Gotta love the mouse-slipped Ruy López.
