I think the reason the chorus is so fulfilling and refreshing is that it has actual lyrics and not just a beat drop into one word repeated like what all of KPOP has been doing for the past 2 years.

the company is promoting/managing them in a way that makes me think they want weeekly to be the next BIG girlgroup. from their extensive predebut activities that put them on everyone's radar to the care that went into their debut (mini album instead of single, nice mv, nice stages with props...). theyre going all in from the get go instead of waiting to see if the group is profitable. imo that makes them very attractive to stan bc its less likely theyll be mismanaged in the future. they definitely caught my eye and im glad everyone else seems to agree
Well, they want a successful follow up to Apink, wich is one of the biggest GG's in Korea, so I hope Weeekly won't be overshadowed by Apink (who are still successful), by now the promotions are going well, hopefully soon they stablish themselves in the industry.

Yes! And not only that, I’ve noticed they did a pretty dinamic choreo that groups with larger amount of members would have done which is the thing where they dance in groups except for the chorus and other little things and them only being 7, they just killed it

They are under Play M ent (Apink and Victon) so Im not worry about the management. I think that the company will keep this music style (especially since they did well with it) and when they turn older the company will probably mature their concept while keeping the "weeekly's sound/feeling" just like they did with Apink
Playm is a double edged sword. On the one hand, their managers, stylists, employees, are genuinely good people and have great chemistry with their artists. You will never hear any stories about bad treatment from managers, harassment, etc. However, They have never been good at promoting their artists. Every success from all the apink members individually and as a group, Victon's rise from Produce 101, the majority of the credit is from the artists themselves, not the company. This is coming from an Apink fan from all the way back from 2014. So We'll see how they manage this new group.

It's complicated and long but Kakao M is basically like Source Music (music publishing and entertainment company) but way bigger. If you know IU, she was FAVE artist but then Kakao M made a company (EDAM) for her only with her previous manager as the CEO. It's enough to show how big Kakao M is. They (Kakao M) also have a lot of subsidiaries too, like Cre.Ker, Starship, and many others. And as much as I remember, MelOn is owned by Kakao M too.. well.. I believe that Kakao M have a lot of connections in the industry so no worries..

Me too. She said she submitted 80 songs and they only picked two for their debut album. I can’t wait to see if they include more as they continue their journey!
This year was disappointing me with their GG debuts, because all looked the same, like a mix of Blackpink and ITZY girlcrush, nothing new or outstanding. But god, Weeekly checks so many boxes, not afraid of being cute and refreshing, i love them. If they can keep up this, maybe doing a comeback before the year ends, they potentially will win the ROTY.

i had found Weeekly by chance as their debut live stage showed up in my recommendations. Their chorus has automatically captured me, especially the “ nananana.” I usually don’t automatically stan after debut but this group is different.I hope that their company and management will continue to do them justice.

Seriously, I think they are my rookie GG pick of the entire YEAR. I fell in love watching their 1theK Music Circle medleys and I was so afraid they wouldn't live up to my hype, but I'm glad to say they absolutely DID. AND THE ALBUM! 🤯🤯🤯 Blew my mind!
I didn't follow them during the PlayM girls era but seeing them as Weeekly with Tag Me, makes me wish i did. Tag Me so far is the debut song of 2020. Tag Me has also half filled the fromis void thats been left empty for over a year now T-T
well if we are talking about PlayM girls than you didnt miss much as it was only established in 2019. but if you are talking about FAVE girls yes sadly all of the content from 2017 until 2019 already got deleted as only Soojin, Jiyoon, Soeun, Jaehee, and Monday remain and more than 10 girls left in the process. Hyewon (Zoa) was from FAVE too but she only got in the line-up in 2019. and the sad things is Jihyo (Jihan) was the only remained Plan A trainee after their merger with FAVE resulting in PlayM Ent and ofc PlayM girls
I joined after watching Music Circle, I think a few days or weeks after Dreamnote did their first one. You didn't really miss much, you could just go to their RUclips channel and watch all of their clips in a day

The film style really reminded me of loona’s pre-debut project! It was such a creative concept and I’d think you would really like enjoy it!

I'm glad you brought up Seventeen and Pristin here. From the first time I watched this MV and heard this song, they were giving me huge early Seventeen vibes. Like, Pretty U, specifically. Not just musically, but visually, and especially the ENERGY they bring. I haven't seen something like this in awhile, and I'm so here for it. Literally bought the physical album after one viewing of the MV. Given they're with Apink's company, I think they're in good hands and I'm looking forward to what's next.

Your reaction actually shook me to the core, as I love this group and they don't fully get seen, you went so deep into the elements people skip over and felt the song for all its good qualities and it made me feel like you appreciated the girls individually. I felt the same also that they are the best debuting group of 2020 and that I have seen in a long time. Zoa is the youngest. Ji yoon short hair, Monday Rapper, Soeun was the visual who danced in the break. Fuck I love this group and there album is 👏
i find weeekly really refreshing, most new ggs i've noticed have been doing "edgier" or not as cute concepts, but this is the perfect amount of bright, quirky and cute for me! i'm really looking forward to how their sound progresses!

If this came out in 2014-2016 people would complain at how overdone it is. Imo this isn't full cute concept. This has a fusion of cute concept with teen crush. Especially the infectious cheer part in the beginning and end of the chorus. It gives me strong Bouncy, We Like, Elris Pow Pow, Fromis_9 Love Bomb vibes and I'm living!

one of the girls, the one in short hair (Jiyoon) has composed and co-writen two of the songs in the minialbum, which is very uncommon and honestly so awesome for a rookie. This girls are here to take the rookie of the year crown, to be honest!

Weeekly Is shaping up to be my ROTY for sure! Until now no other GG debut this year impressed me as much as cignature's debut song (although the mv concept was lacking but that's the directors fault, they did fantastic in it.) Weeekly is the first group to surpass that, and the girls themselves are incredible. I already love jiyoon and jihan. To think they have members composing already--- mind blown. If any other debuts this year top this, that group would have to be an instant house hold name because only a mega hit could feasibly top this.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I discovered them really randomly, I don't even follow Apink or Victon but the concept trailer seemed so quirky and then I saw some of the predebut videos and was blown by their potential. They have several great vocalists and the reste are good, same for dancing. They are very good in terms of variety shows/showcasing themselves. I can't wait to see even more of them. The only default I see in their debut song is that the part they sang together is super good but reminds me too much of Rocket Punch's Bouncy parts and the producer happens to be the same. Upon the album's first listen I preferred Hello but I guess Tag Me has more striking elements that makes it the title track.
well sadly even if you follow Apink or Victon you will not get that much information about them as Jihyo (Jihan) was the only remaining trainee from Plan A Ent (Apink's label) the other was from FAVE Ent (IU former label) after the merger many trainee (more than 10) got cut from the debut line-up as its basically FAVE Girls + Plan A Girls :( but yes i do agree with you, they are really great and im looking forward to see more from them

Yeap, this group really caught me by surprise. That intro hooked me up immediately with the shouty parts, the bass line and that crunchy guitar, from there the song just keeps the energy super high . I hope they can maintain this level of quality, because this left me too hyped up haha.

Your reaction to this entire debut is so relatable. I'm someone who loved Girls' Generation and ONLY them for years growing up, until I discovered BTS. Nothing really 'blew me away' since discovering those two, but the likes of Stray Kids, Blackpink always come close to the 'wow' factor, with everything, mostly what you said about each member STANDING OUT! Then we have Weeekly, with a debut like this? WOW! It's just so close to home for me, has that old-school 'kpop' style while also hitting all modern notes.. or something, awesome. The chorus is what sold me, I hope their label treats them right.

I was watching Idol radio yesterday (they were the guests) and their song and their high tension just blew me away. Not tomention their crazy fun norebang segment of the show. WOW. I really liked their debut mini-album, especially Hello. I honestly have never felt this excited about a girl group since Pristin and Girl's Generation.
I really hope they win ROTY this year, they deserve it. Their whole debut is a SERVE. The title song, album and the choreo are all well produced. Not to mention their overflowing visuals and talents. This is totally the best gg debut this year. I really hope they could pull off the ROTY title, they have a pretty fast growing fanbase in Korea which will help them achieve the attention they need.

100%. This is one of the best (managed) debuts recently. Pretty sure they can keep it up too and their agency hopefully learned a lot while managing Apink. That said.. when we talk about excellent debuts, lets not forget *DreamCatcher* That group rains Hits on us since Chase Me, but SK ignores them bc they look like strong, confident adults..

PD was spot on at 13:36! I've been into k-pop a long time at this point (since gen 2 was alive and well), and the groups that always caught my eye have members that stand out visually! Even if it's up to 12/13 members, I'm more inclined to remember names, which means I'll follow up and support, if most of (if not all members) have distinct features.
Twice, I*zone, Itzy, Rocket Punch, SNSD (After debut era), Cherry Bullet (Rip), and Pristin (Tears) all have that individual easily distinguishable style and look that PD was talking about which makes it very easy for new stans to learn their names. I absolutely love WJSN music but to this day I still can't tell you all the members names. :(
I've been waiting for you to react to them all week long, I'm so happy!!! YES YES I completely agree with what you said, Weeekly sounds like the best parts of a bunch of groups brought together, but they don't become a sort of "another one of the bunch" and bring a certain new air that makes them stand out from everybody else. You are absolutely right with what you said. Managing a group is not really that easy if you are Let's just say in a company that has more than 1 girl group or even 1 girl group only. Because you really have to make sure that these groups/artists under your company will be able have the best promotion that they would need for a certain period of time. And I believe that the 7 year curse is still there because some groups disband after their 7th year. By the way they are the sister or successors (some fans do call it) of Apink. As far as I know and being a fan of Apink, They are to be considered as one of the best girl groups in Korea. They have achieved different awards individually and as a group. What Apink has achieved is really awesome! And now some of the currently active girl groups such as Weeekly, Momoland, Secret Number, and etc. is using Apink as their inspiration for being still active (by means of still being able to promote as a Girl or Boy group and make songs). I hope I would not get hate on this. I'm also a fan of other GG's :) :)

It's complicated and long but Kakao M is basically like Source Music (music publishing and entertainment company) but way bigger. If you know IU, she was FAVE artist but then Kakao M made a company (EDAM) for her only with her previous manager as the CEO. It's enough to show how big Kakao M is. They (Kakao M) also have a lot of subsidiaries too, like Cre.Ker, Starship, and many others. And as much as I remember, MelOn is owned by Kakao M too.. well.. I believe that Kakao M have a lot of connections in the industry so no worries..

But god, Weeekly checks so many boxes, not afraid of being cute and refreshing, i love them. If they can keep up this, maybe doing a comeback before the year ends, they potentially will win the ROTY.

i had found Weeekly by chance as their debut live stage showed up in my recommendations. Their chorus has automatically captured me, especially the “ nananana.” I usually don’t automatically stan after debut but this group is different.I hope that their company and management will continue to do them justice.

well if we are talking about PlayM girls than you didnt miss much as it was only established in 2019. but if you are talking about FAVE girls yes sadly all of the content from 2017 until 2019 already got deleted as only Soojin, Jiyoon, Soeun, Jaehee, and Monday remain and more than 10 girls left in the process. Hyewon (Zoa) was from FAVE too but she only got in the line-up in 2019. and the sad things is Jihyo (Jihan) was the only remained Plan A trainee after their merger with FAVE resulting in PlayM Ent and ofc PlayM girls

They had to deal with Idol School investigations and their company(Off the Record) also had to handle the Produce Scandal with Iz*One, so musical content has been rather lacking. They have had non-musical content during the hiatus but I believe many people are hoping for new music.

The film style really reminded me of loona’s pre-debut project! It was such a creative concept and I’d think you would really like enjoy it!

I'm glad you brought up Seventeen and Pristin here. From the first time I watched this MV and heard this song, they were giving me huge early Seventeen vibes. Like, Pretty U, specifically. Not just musically, but visually, and especially the ENERGY they bring. I haven't seen something like this in awhile, and I'm so here for it. Literally bought the physical album after one viewing of the MV. Given they're with Apink's company, I think they're in good hands and I'm looking forward to what's next.
Monday does the main rap part in the song, Zoa who is the Maknae and rapper does the end of bridge/pre-last chorus rap. So happy to see PD as excited about Weeekly as I am.

If this came out in 2014-2016 people would complain at how overdone it is. Imo this isn't full cute concept. This has a fusion of cute concept with teen crush. Especially the infectious cheer part in the beginning and end of the chorus. It gives me strong Bouncy, We Like, Elris Pow Pow, Fromis_9 Love Bomb vibes and I'm living!

Weeekly Is shaping up to be my ROTY for sure! Until now no other GG debut this year impressed me as much as cignature's debut song (although the mv concept was lacking but that's the directors fault, they did fantastic in it.) Weeekly is the first group to surpass that, and the girls themselves are incredible. I already love jiyoon and jihan. To think they have members composing already--- mind blown. If any other debuts this year top this, that group would have to be an instant house hold name because only a mega hit could feasibly top this.

I discovered them really randomly, I don't even follow Apink or Victon but the concept trailer seemed so quirky and then I saw some of the predebut videos and was blown by their potential. They have several great vocalists and the reste are good, same for dancing. They are very good in terms of variety shows/showcasing themselves. I can't wait to see even more of them. The only default I see in their debut song is that the part they sang together is super good but reminds me too much of Rocket Punch's Bouncy parts and the producer happens to be the same. Upon the album's first listen I preferred Hello but I guess Tag Me has more striking elements that makes it the title track.
well sadly even if you follow Apink or Victon you will not get that much information about them as Jihyo (Jihan) was the only remaining trainee from Plan A Ent (Apink's label) the other was from FAVE Ent (IU former label) after the merger many trainee (more than 10) got cut from the debut line-up as its basically FAVE Girls + Plan A Girls :(

Yeap, this group really caught me by surprise. That intro hooked me up immediately with the shouty parts, the bass line and that crunchy guitar, from there the song just keeps the energy super high . I hope they can maintain this level of quality, because this left me too hyped up haha.

I'm someone who loved Girls' Generation and ONLY them for years growing up, until I discovered BTS. Nothing really 'blew me away' since discovering those two, but the likes of Stray Kids, Blackpink always come close to the 'wow' factor, with everything, mostly what you said about each member STANDING OUT!
Then we have Weeekly, with a debut like this? WOW! It's just so close to home for me, has that old-school 'kpop' style while also hitting all modern notes.. or something, awesome. The chorus is what sold me, I hope their label treats them right.

I was watching Idol radio yesterday (they were the guests) and their song and their high tension just blew me away. Not tomention their crazy fun norebang segment of the show. WOW. I really liked their debut mini-album, especially Hello. I honestly have never felt this excited about a girl group since Pristin and Girl's Generation.
I really hope they win ROTY this year, they deserve it. Their whole debut is a SERVE. The title song, album and the choreo are all well produced. Not to mention their overflowing visuals and talents. This is totally the best gg debut this year. I really hope they could pull off the ROTY title, they have a pretty fast growing fanbase in Korea which will help them achieve the attention they need.
I am not really into girlgroup cute-ish songs but this is different. I know it's not the usual cute, it's bright and colorful. PD was spot on at 13:36! I've been into k-pop a long time at this point (since gen 2 was alive and well), and the groups that always caught my eye have members that stand out visually! Even if it's up to 12/13 members, I'm more inclined to remember names, which means I'll follow up and support, if most of (if not all members) have distinct features.
Twice, I*zone, Itzy, Rocket Punch, SNSD (After debut era), Cherry Bullet (Rip), and Pristin (Tears) all have that individual easily distinguishable style and look that PD was talking about which makes it very easy for new stans to learn their names. I absolutely love WJSN music but to this day I still can't tell you all the members names. :(

YES YES I completely agree with what you said, Weeekly sounds like the best parts of a bunch of groups brought together, but they don't become a sort of "another one of the bunch" and bring a certain new air that makes them stand out from everybody else. The two part chorus IS SOOOO GOOD AND CATCHY, and as you said, full of energy and emotion!!
As you said I'm also afraid they've set the bar way too high for their debut, but I really really pray they keep it up!! I'm wholly and fully rooting for them as ROTY 2020, I think nobody comes close to them for now. You are absolutely right with what you said. Managing a group is not really that easy if you are Let's just say in a company that has more than 1 girl group or even 1 girl group only. Because you really have to make sure that these groups/artists under your company will be able have the best promotion that they would need for a certain period of time. And I believe that the 7 year curse is still there because some groups disband after their 7th year.
By the way they are the sister or successors (some fans do call it) of Apink. As far as I know and being a fan of Apink, They are to be considered as one of the best girl groups in Korea. They have achieved different awards individually and as a group. What Apink has achieved is really awesome! And now some of the currently active girl groups such as Weeekly, Momoland, Secret Number, and etc. is using Apink as their inspiration for being still active (by means of still being able to promote as a Girl or Boy group and make songs).
I hope I would not get hate on this. I'm also a fan of other GG's :) :)
