When Vito is on....He is on. I can't wait to see him continue his momentum moving forward. His takedowns on RBY and Dayton were lightning. He majored Fix and pretty much shut down RBY completely. Great Tournament. Was awesome seeing Glory win with his Family and Keegan win on the big stage again....Felt bad for Spencer and Carr but they are both winners and will rebound.
I thought Bryce Andonian had Levi Haines pinned. Haines was impressive coming back for the pin, and making the finals. O`Connor over Haines was experience. Haines was in 8th grade O'Connors freshman year.
Haines also wrestled 41 college matches last year and trained with Penn St. So he had an early red shirt year if you will. Not taking away how good he wrestled. Haines is going to be hard to beat going forward.
I hope Oklahoma St rebounds. They also have Sammy Alvarez who transferred. They are also doing renovations to their arena which should help with recruiting.
Cael turned Van Ness and Bartlett into real National Contenders. PSU represents the best wrestling in the country still. Cornell did well. No Hawkeye won a title. The universe smiled on Pat Glory with the Ramos upset.
1:01:00 Another complaint I have about challenges is the fact that an overturned challenge overturns everything that happens afterwards. I think that if the brick is not acknowledged immediately - and there is usually a good reason it isn't, like someone scoring back points - everything that happens between the challenge and the whistle should be reviewed and scored correctly. Here is a scenario that happened over the weekend. Wrestlers are scrambling. Red is behind Green in a standing position(this is challenged). Green granbys the mat return and comes out on top (brick is thrown here), then turns Red, scoring 4 nearfall. Red rolls through and escapes. Score is Green 6, Red 1, and we're neutral. After review, Red gets a takedown because Green had 3 supporting points before the granby. Score is Green 0, Red 2, red on top. If we simply give red the takedown and green a reversal rather than a takedown, count the back points and the escape, it is a much more fair scenario for both wrestlers, and removes some of the metagaming aspect of brick throwing at opportune moments rather than when you think a call is actually wrong.
It's insane how good Haines must be to even be competitive against a guy of Oconner's age and style and experience. He also looked like a weight class bigger. Love to see Oconner in UFC
What a match. Match of the Evening of very good matches. For everyone talking about how fast Vito's speed was amazing. The fastest Vito match this year was against McGee. Who would of thought when watching them then that the two would be 1 and 3 this year and both would beat Fix. Gotta fix the Challenge 1. Never over turned,,especially by the mat refs.Ncaa looked liked the call was made by someone not on the floor re: the phone. If you noticed never overturned & when it is,it's only for the major teams.JOKE!!
Come on guys, An hour and a half summary of the NCAA tournament and not once do you mention the final team scores! This should be the first thing discussed before you jump into the details of each match.
he was checked out. He was ready to leave last year. They convinced him to stay and help them win a team title...probably get some more NIL. he didn't seem at all like he has been. I was bummed but glad Vito won.
I truly believe that nobody was beating the VITO that showed up at NCAA's. The way he did Dayton and I think his style just caught RBravoY off guard and when was the last time he was behind big early? Everybody loses, he will make the adjustments and I would imagine be more consistent than VITO based on history but hopefully VITO and RBY battle for years to come in Freestyle. 2 Greats. and Fix still has some years to get the fire back....Evan Henderson made the team this year in the toughest weight in USA imo. Or deepest.
Wrestling just gets better and better.
Good stuff fellas. Absolutely great tourney. Can't see anyone else winning the Hodge but Parris. Bormet is right, Parris is the Hodge conversation.

The biggest takeaway for me is why did Ben askren lose to jake paul?

You got that right about Penn State.
Van ness wrestled out of his mind I was starting to call him a bust like facundo
Van Ness was impressive. I am not a PSU fan but dang Cael sure does an awesome job getting them prepared for Nationals.
Spencer ended career with 98 wins. He wrestles back, he could have gotten 99 and 100 .

Starocci is most definitely coming back for not just 1 more but 2 more years to try to be the only 5 time NC!
Bens new haircut makes him look more like brad pitt than he already did

Two years and Pendleton takes over of John Smith.
I ask this every year- what were the cumulative team points the wrestlers have at the tournament from their freshman year to today
Flo quantum go!
IMO YANNI LOOKED HEAVY! I know sounds crazy
i agree Ben, I was shocked Alirez choose bottom and was bitching about it until he pulled that reversal to back move 😂
It’s ridiculous that some of these guys wrestle until they’re 26.
Who was 26?
Spencer looked like Ramos' dad😂
age limit should be 24
To make Oklahoma State fans feel better, they were closer to taking second from Iowa than Iowa was from taking first.

I’m just pissed with the way Ramos wrestled glory in the finals. No shots especially in the last period.

Exactly this is what I was thinking after it was over. I hope to see more of the conferences evening out the playing field.
Yianni wrestled tigbt too, but can you blame them . One mistake and boom, party is over

I know of no other program where the participants chase so many rabbits. You guys are simply unable to stay on a topic! You bounce all over the place.
Lol, true but I like their enthusiasm over the whole tournament.
i love it. feels like freedom
The dude that beat RBY should win the Hodge.
Except he lost this year.

why
I feel like RBY got a little too basic. I think he would have probably had a better shot if he went out there and showed off like normal.

@@jeffh2732 disagree. But it's all good.
Serious question: What is the point of having JD Rader on the show? He adds literally nothing.
