It feels like there is something backwards. There is a spring and little teeth that can hold the string in place when not in use IF you could push that knob in and let go but with the plate flush to the wall, that mechanism is being taken away. Or is all this is about the ability to twist the knob that holds the string after installed flush to the wall? What am I missing?
Karin - The teeth on this device are not designed to hold the cord tight when not in use. It is designed to clamp onto the cord or chain when the device becomes loose or comes out from the wall it is mounted to. When installed properly, the teeth won't be in the way of the operation of the shade.
Fei - Thanks for your comment. This tensioning device is not just for decoration. It is for child safety to tie down the loop. The spring is inside of it to render the shade partially inoperable in the event that the device comes out from the wall.
Hi there, to take the tensioner apart, first remove it from the wall or trim. Then, you'll be able to push the pieces apart. Please follow the assembly directions backwards. If you have any remaining questions, feel free to reach out to us via email at service@fixmyblinds.com.
We have this installed with out roller blind but it's been rotated a few times and caused the chain to get twisted. I've tried reversing the turn but the spring won't budge. How do I untwist the chain?
Hi - you may need to uninstall and reinstall the tension device to untwist the chain. If your chain is still twisted, you may need to remove the chain completely to get the twist out. Here is a video showing how to remove and replace bead chain. ruclips.net/video/ya7Cabh-3Z0/видео.html
My husband is so upset right now with the damn spring!! 😂 he says that the tension from the spring is going to either break the mount since is plastic, or the screws could pop out.
Hi there, Assembling this device can be a little tricky! However, the assembly does work and won't break or pop out of the wall due to the strength of the spring. Be sure to use drywall anchors if it is being installed into drywall.
@@fixmyblinds thank you for your response, he ended up taking out the spring from the device, he didn’t feel comfortable with it. We saved it, in case we definitely need it.
For the tension device to operate properly and provide a child and pet safe environment, the spring is necessary. If you have kids in the home or who visit your home, the device should be assembled properly for safety purposes.
@@fixmyblinds but if the mount is flush with the wall the loop is pushed out, rendering the spring useless. I honestly don’t understand the functionality of the spring. And the entire mechanism with the cord loop shade seems to be aesthetic only. Am I missing something?
@@GenePBloch Yes, I agree. I installed this last night, and I had exactly the thoughts you expressed here 3 months ago! I added some unmentionables and this morning was hoping no one heard me!
This tension device only works with continuous cord loops and bead chain loops. If you have one free hanging cord with a tassel at the end, you could install cord cleats to wrap your excess cords around. It does not matter, since insert is not doing anything anyway. From what I see this thing can be installed without spring and insert with the same result. This is on the most idiotic designs i have ever seen!
100% agree... cannot figure out why in the world you would need the spring or clamp once installed. Useless. It holds the cord in place but clamp and spring are needless. Way over engineered as far as I can tell.
What a differnce, your video received a A plus I had no idea how to install the cord in the roll lease...
Thank you much...
This spring mechanism design goes against every part of my engineering brain!
As commented below, leave the spring out. Makes installation and use easy.
also lose the insert

This tensioner is totally useless functionally. If for decoration only, why do you put a spring there to risk damaging the wall?

Makes sense if it is for safety concern
How do you take apart the tensioner to get the continuous cord loop through?

Well the insert don't fit through the guide with bead chain like you show in the video.

Hi does this work with a venetian blind which has 3 cords going into 1 with a pulley hanging down?

Are you kidding me!
Charles, can I help at all with this installation?
