And with chef Ranveer I guess we all feel the difference and the knowledge behind the recipes❤️

In many parts of Southern India, traditionally the coconut is scrapped using a traditional coconut scrapper. I have prepared chutney both ways, the one you showed by peeling and cutting the inside of the coconut, and scraped coconut. For some reason I feel the scrapped coconut tastes much rich and much better than the cutting the coconut and making chutney.
Always loved your recipes sir. Huge fan of yours. Always loved cooking and you have inspired me more to learn about cooking

@@shruthiiyengar6691 yes may be. Probably doing the process chef showed reduces the amount of juiciness inside the coconut. And the coconut separating from its shell itself is a sign of a dry coconut.

You are an encyclopedia of food, we learn so much from you beyond the recipes. Just want to share my coconut story. Peeling and breaking nariyal had been my job since I was 8. (I am a Punjabi, our family was very fond of nariyal) My tools ? Pliers, screw driver and a plastic bag or old cotton bag before we had plastic bags. Yes, I am talking old times. I would remove the jat with pliers, open the soft eye with screw driver, get the water out, put the coconut in the bag, tie the opening and bang it on verandah floor a few times. Job done ! Most of the coconut would come apart from the shell in the bag.
Now living in US, still broke the coconut my way till Indian grocery shops showed up and I buy frozen.

Thank you Ranveer for this recipe. Being a Keralite it became a daily routine to make coconut chutney for dosa and idly. We used to make different types of coconut chutneys. And we have a traditional coconut scraper too in every house. Once again thank you for showing this recipe in your channel. Lots of love from Kerala, the land of Nalikeram (coconut).

    Hello Chef,
The story behind coconut and banana used as aspusious Prasad is so logically true.
I being a South Indian (From Mysore) coconut is a staple ingredient in our cooking. We can't think of any dish without coconut.
Chutney is also a staple dish in our home and is accompanied to almost all the dishes we eat.
Every house have their own version of chutneys.
But I have never tried your version of coconut chutney, will surely try this!
We have 2 trees in our back yard!

Superb and it was an eye opener of breaking the coconut and removing the main thing from the shell by heating it mildly.
The presentation is excellent and the mythological story, narrative makes it even more interesting.
The best part is removing water from the third eye which is a beautiful technique and that could be used in the chutney process without wasting it.
You are a professional, and only a specialist can explain like this.
You are also a good teacher explaining in a lucid manner.

I love fresh coconut..thank you for sharing the wonderful food stories.. it’s these nuggets that make me come back to your channel and recipes.
In my version of coconut chutney, I don’t add anything except green chillies, cumin, tamarind and ginger ( I replace ginger with mango ginger when it’s in season) along with same tadka that you added.
