These developers truly understood what the weight of such a large creature would look like while in motion and the minimal effect a human-sized character would have fighting one. I don't know why it's been so hard for the game industry to handle massively-scaled enemies since. Take Final Fantasy XV for example. Some enemies are huge but turn and twist around with unrealistic speed. And then they flinch every time you swing a sword 1/5000th the size of their body at their toe.
I'm glad someone else acknowledges that too. Shadow of Colossus has truly captured the realism of heights, length, and density of the environment surrounding the protagonist and the beast he encounter. It almost makes you feel a tad bit imtimidated to approach these grotesque Beings as amasing as the graphics are, with it's complying storyline, accompanied with a great soundtrack. They really put their heart and soul into this game.
I vividly remember playing this game during the holiday season in 2005. One of the best video game experiences I've ever had....an experience of literal epic proportions!

the plot & ending, colossus design, lighting, the musics, the texture, the vegetations, camera movements, the way the camera shakes when the colossus strikes, that lightning & thunder effect when fighting Malus, the fire on Malus's arms, everything is PERFECT

For real, I too was just a kid who watched her brother play the game and that scene broke my poor fragile heart. I ran to my mother in tears and she nagged my brother thinking that he was the culprit😭
The somber ambience, the feeling of solitude, the huge arenas and bosses... I think this game was one inspiration for Dark Souls

@@nguyentuananh6689 Uhh no! This game takes around 12 to 15 hours to complete the first time you play it. The guy that made this gameplay already knew exactly what to do and where to go. Also, if you play it on hard the colossi AI is more aggresive and you have to find more weak points. But damn, you are stupid if you actually believes that this game is short. The story mode of the call of duty games can be completed in less than 4 or 3 hours even if you play it for the first time whereas this one takes someones thrice to complete.

I agree, although a real high budget movie of this game would be epic, especially if they had physical models and green screen for at least parts of the colossi, not just CGI. Even better if they didn’t predictably make it into a straight good versus evil, love conquers everything cliche story. The moral ambiguity is something I find refreshing about SOTC even now.
Why should that be the paradigm that games should aspire to? We already have movies; let movies be movies, let games be games.

why, because it looks pretty? Most of the game is just running around. Then you fight 1 monster. then someone tells you to fight another monster. then you travel to fight it. then repeat. thats it. thats the whole story.
@@bacon8891 That's not just it, this game is more than just killing colossi, this game is an experience. The lore behind it, then ico, which some say is a prequel of shadow of the colosuss. This game is 15 years old and we are finding new details everyday to this day.
Even as I'm just replying to a 3 year old gameplay, I must say well played, and I felt like I was a watching movie.
Definitely enjoyed playing this game.

I can’t believe it. With this walkthrough I finally knew what to freaking do with the 3rd colossus. Then I completed the game in 2 hours
Same here, the path to the 3rd Colossus really made be wanted to brake my controller and pulled my hairless head. The upper path did not align with the column. Every time I jump and grab, I will definitely fall. Luckily after countless try, I finally made it. Similar in the video, just jump and push a little bit to the right at the column. After completing that, the rest was manageable...

also saw some of the negative comments on this game, everyone's entitled to their opinion and all but i feel like it's unfair that ppl say this game is trash. there's a reason why this game is so open-world and empty, this game was groundbreaking when it came out on the ps2, ahh the memories ❤
Uh... I think it's BECAUSE it's so empty that some people don't like it. You look at other open-world games, and the world is usually super vibrant and full of life (just look at the recent Man-Eater game; all the biomes are filled with different animals and enemies to square against along with super apex predator bosses, while in SOTC there's just 16 giant bosses in an empty, dull world with hardly any defining lore on what any of it means).
If only i had money to buy this amazing game

Beautiful game. I just beat this just now. The last colossus had me stuck for a very long time.🤦🏾♂️Its Unbelievable how I just found out about this game. (Colossus 16 : 1 hour 18 minutes 2 seconds) horrible my best time was 3 minutes 38 seconds colossus 1 lol.
lol I now played and finished the game and yh same the part to climb on to the head from the hand had me stuck for 40mins atleast
This game is so good, I played the one on Ps2 and seen this brings me so many awesome memories. I really hope you can have this and more None-Commentary game-plays, loved the immersion we can have with this kind of games and also unfortunately commented Game-Plays are kinda silly sometimes, so is good just have the game and the music playing trough.

Just got this game. It's kinder to you on the kills for some reason. I get one hit and then I have to redo the strategy. I'm on Normal mode too.
It is difficult to see what is going on in the darker areas (caves, under water, etc). Is that just the recording, or is the game really that dark and hard to see when you play the game?

I mean it really looks great (besides motion blurr) but if its that dark i cannot play
dunno if accurate but you can manually calibrate brightness in the main menu, it shows you the perfect value and it definitely shouldn't be this dark
The game is that dark when in caves, so um, good luck seeing your way in those places😆

It's a great Remaster, but they should merge the cut scenes to look more real. Also the dark places looked too dark.
As much as I love this game, the cumbersome controls while on horseback almost drives me crazy! I've been trying to jump over that bridge to the final colossus several times now but the damn horse just won't cooperate and we fall to our demise every single time 😭

It’s funny because that’s exactly what they want us to experience. To struggle and be more patient. The AI are meant to be that way, as realistic as they would in real life. I personally prefer it that way. Compared to the horses in The Witcher or RDR, Agro is far more realistic with the way she moves and operates in general. You can’t help but adore her like a real horse with her frequent disobedience. Same goes with the boss’ AI. They can be frustrating sometimes, but I can’t really blame them when they’re meant to be that way in the first place.

Thanks for this! I've been hopping through when I get lost in the main game. I love the sword-compass but sometimes it points me down the absolute wrong path.

In the beginning of the game dormin tried to possess agro and wander however wander is carrying the ancient sword meaning dormin cant forcefully possess wander and so dormin told wander to break the seal on them without actually saying the price which is wanders body
Though dormin did revive mono in the end
