The last guy left out that not only did the artist have professional ties to Doug, TT and EWJ, but Interplay appeared to confirm the news on Twitter shortly after it gained steam when they said they were looking forward to other opportunities for EWJ.

I said this multiple times- I still dont get the earthworm jim hype. WHY? Just look at the SNES mini, Mega Man X, FF6, Link to the past, Mario World, Starfox, Earthbound, Castlevania IV, Donkey Kong Country, Contra III, Ghost and Goblins, Secret of Mana, Super Punch out, Super Metroid, F-zero, Mario Kart and this doesnt even include games that isnt on it: Street fighter 2, Chrono Trigger, Turtles in times, actraiser, terranigma and that is just on the SNES not even gonna go into genesis with street of rage and shinobi, the insane intrest and hype of a "earth worm jim" is beyond me. I dont remember anyone talking about it back in school.
Yeah EWJ is hot garbage and a terrible play imo and have never missed trading the game weeks after I got it in the 90s. I’d take a simple game like burger time over this game any day of the week👍
Earthworm Jim encapsulated the 90's with the "tude. I remember seeing it in a lot of demo kiosks and mostly enjoying it at first because of the smooth animations. I don't really remember many friends actually owning or playing through it. It did not age great.
@@NinjaKittyRetro maybe but we entered with amazing 2D mario and zelda on the SNES and left the 90s with amazing mario and zelda in 3D. thats how I will remember the 90s the golden age of 2D gaming and entering the new era of 3D. not f-ing earthworm jim!
Outside of Mario and Sonic, you could make the case that in the late 90s, he was the most popular platform character. He even had a short lived cartoon and toy line, and still has a little bit of popularity today
There was never an Earthworm Jim 4 to cancel. Tommy held the EJ crew BBQ at his home so he could manipulate the crew into talking about making a new game in the series. At the BBQ they probably said it would fun to do another, then Tommy ran off, and started advertising EJ 4 on the Amico. TAking major liberties because he was buddies with the crew, then he got his hand slapped. That's the story. Now I wonder where he got the animation from because we know Tommy steals everything. I bet that first level animation turns up somewhere. I bet it's a fan made animation he stole.
Nope the animation was made by Mike Dietz one of the original animators. I can tell you it was definitely not made with the amigos engine because it ended up in Mike dietz's animation reel
I am the person who runs out of context Earthworm Jim I am so sorry for the confusion, I don't know why the news articles picked my tweet. Especially when there is an actual interview with Nick Brutus stating that all that happened was a lunch. The writer didn't even ask about anything. And the artists were patched up for a bit until it was found that Tommy didn't do any of the music which then she blocked me because she believed Tommy and I didn't
I believe it stemmed from them both saying the Amico has no audience and is dead in the water. The funny part is that Greg Miller introduced the Intellivision Amico E3 segment back when it first aired live.
8:39 if it's who I think it is, she's English and well connected to Doug Tennaple, she used do live streams with him in 2019 before he blow up politically... If she said it, it's because Doug mentioned it.
A disappointment but not really since from day one it seemed like it was going to be either terrible done or not done at all. Hopefully someone else picks up the license and does a regular shooter/platformer with at least some effort put into it.
The last No Swear Gamer upload was kind of interesting when he mentioned a theory that Tommy may not be the largest shareholder and may be under NDA not to talk about Amico. Which makes me wonder if Embracer Group worked out a deal with Tommy.
Just to be clear, TT had the most shares, but not the majority of the shares, so he still could've been forced out, which could explain why he hasn't done anything public with the Amico in a year, but he has been public with VGL and even backgammon.

GameStop Canada still has the Amico console on their website and I see fingerprints of Embracer Group as it says, "by Koch Media Accessories," which is owned by Embracer Group when clicking on Amico hardware on GameStop Canada's website. Searches for Amico on GameStop's North American websites yields no results whatsoever.
