    My favorite part of this episode will always, always be Spike at the end: "Come onnnnnn, vampires, rrrrrrrr, nasty! Let's annihilate them, for justice, and for the safety of puppies, and Christmas, right? Let's fight that evil! Let's kill something! ... OH COME ON!" Hysterically funny, every time.

    Spike dissecting Willow and Xander like frogs in biology lab just doesn't get old.
    And let's not gloss over Buffy leaping headlong into the mouth of Hell- without hesitation or hope of return.

    Doomed was a great fun episode with the comedy between Spike and Xander hilarious. It's almost like the 'Odd Couple' the two of them in the basement is a sitcom I would pay to watch. The last part when Spike gets recognised by Riley and tries to put on an American accent was hilarious, and then trying to get Willow and Xander to go out with him and try and kill something, 'oh come on', great comedy.

    Well, depressed Spike was fun while he lasted. I do love 'fighting monsters is better than boredom' Spike also, but Spike moping around because he can't hurt anyone is so funny to me. Anytime they have him sulking or doing mundane stuff kills me 🤣🤣🤣

    With earthquakes, there are pre-shocks (the rumblers before the big one) and after-shocks (rumbers after the big one). The big one can vary in intensity. And it's relative. For those of us on the East Coast, an earthquake does not have to have as large a magnitude as those on the west coast to have damage. My area had a 5.1M earthquake in 2020 and our area didn't really get them before. Turns out we have a new fault line here in the mountains (and it's not one of the ancient fault lines). We can feel 2.3 and higher magnitude whereas those on the west coast don't usually feel those that low. After-shocks can happen for months to years later. 4 years later for us and we're still having after-shocks.

    I'm in Virginia, and I've experienced *one* earthquake. It wasn't all rattling and stuff falling off walls like in the show. The house just kinda rocked a bit, like a boat going over some (gentle) waves. I honestly had no idea what happened until I went online and saw "earthquake" trending.

    I always thought this episode was boring and never really paid this much attention to it. It was kind of that "cannon" episode that the school did in fact blow up. Here's proof. Iv always loved spike this season though. It has the best one liners and I forgot how funny he was in this particular episode.
    Rewatching this with you is so much fun!! Your reactions are hilarious! And you think about things like having a good feeling about Tara and I'm remembering how that felt the first time I saw this ❤️❤️❤️ i love her. Her and willow and Anya are my favorite characters!

    I had just moved to Santa Cruz for college when the Loma Prieta quake hit (6.9) and a few years later I was in Southern California for the Northridge quake (6.7). Aftershocks are smaller quakes that follow a bigger one.

    Wondering if they needed a detective agency for some reason. That exterior shot at 20:00 is the Townsend Detective Agency from the TV show Charlie's Angels.

      They both filmed in Los Angeles. They don't have an unlimited number of sites suitable for filming. I would assume that site/facades has been used for numerous settings. I'm really bad at recognising the same set.
      Charlie's Angels was apparently my first TV obsession when I was a toddler.

    i find it interesting that buffy reveals her zodiac and yet we never reall learn that about anyone else.
    The Initiative doesn't understand Buffy n Giles' world...they are led by government and science and military...that stuff does not compute to what Buffy n Giles deals with on a daily basis. Proffessor Walsh has an arrogance complex because she thinks she can use her genius in psychiatry for her own ends...but it won't work. the initiative was formed because the government began to be concerned with the supernatural in sunnydale (in previous seasons) but what they don;t understand is they interfering with Buffy's job...not the other way around...but of course they won't ever accept that.

    Serious earthquakes happen pretty rarely (every 7-12 years & that’s a general guess), but little ‘rumblers’ where you can feel some movement, but nothing is damaged, happen fairly regularly.

    • @tananario23
      @tananario23 4 месяца назад

      Actually. The frequency and scale of an earthquake is due to its geographical location. Too bad Americans never study physical geography.

    • @ernesthakey3396
      @ernesthakey3396 4 месяца назад +2

      @@tananario23too bad you're making unfounded assumptions. Pretty sure they were talking about that general area of California. Even within California the frequency varies.
      "How Often Do Earthquakes Occur in Los Angeles?
      The California Earthquake Authority (CEA) reports that people in LA County feel shaking from earthquakes a couple times a year, though most of those earthquakes are mild or moderate, with little damage. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has placed Los Angeles in the category of “very high risk” for earthquakes. LA’s earthquake risk is so high because so many active faults run through the county, including the famous San Andreas fault."
      And plenty of Americans study all sorts of things, including geology. I took a course at MIT, but it was a long time ago; still, I can find out information just fine. And geology is very related to "physical geography." We studied tectonic plates etc., among other things.

    I think Riley should go back to _Psych 101_ and not be a TA for a Psych professor. He clearly has no idea how to talk to people in the way he's studying to do or how to behave in regarding to conversations or how to use his supposed knowledge of his Psyche major. Buffy's not acting stupid or self-involved, as Riley says to her for saying no to a relationship. She has genuine concerns that she needed to deal with before being with somebody romantically. She didn't realize that until she saw him stepping from Joe Normal into her Slayer life It doesn't matter whether there is truth to what Riley says or not because how he talks to her about it only made it worse and the fact that he isn't acknowledging the fact that she has issues she needs to deal with first isn't going to help. Riley (and Willow in the previous episode) want to go at their pace when Buffy needs to go at her own pace. It's sad that Riley calls her names for saying no.
    Whatever reasons he or others come up with to think calling people names is, isn't defendable because there were other things he could have said besides name-calling to get his point across. Buffy getting together with him without dealing with the issues she clearly has, makes Riley more of Buffy's rebound (just like Parker was meant to be). And Riley has helped put himself there. By this episode's end he has convinced her she's in the wrong and needs to date him. Buffy may as well have got together with Xander the night he made fun of her for believing in vampires, which was also the same day he said, "Can I have you" as the very first words spoken to her. Her issues with slaying combined with Xander being rude make him an easy 'no' for her, but she actually tried with Riley until she realized she needed time because of Angel and Faith issues. Not allowing herself that time is only serving to make Riley the rebound. Not waiting a while after agreeing to the time that even Riley said was a good idea at the beginning of the episode speaks volumes to Riley's personality and Phyche major learning.
    None of this even adds to Riley saying phrases like "what are you?" instead of "who are you?" Buffy had a right to be annoyed or worse at that one. Riley was fighting against serious issues and I don't see the episode's end with them as a good thing. More Buffy convincing herself byy being convinced it could be a good thing. But Buffy hasn't dealt with her issues yet.

      To be fair, I think Riley's not doing most of his thinking about Buffy with hormone-free gray matter...
      He's kinda clueless about personal relationships - that's more practical psychology, he's got book-learning psychology. (Plus the writer's don't seem to respect him too much...but that's 4th wall thinking.)

    • @Buffy8Fan
      @Buffy8Fan 4 месяца назад

      @@ernesthakey3396 SPOILERS
      Book learning means nothing in Psychology, unless used practically in some way, and when Riley has a chance to do so the result is how he talked to Buffy. Can't back him up. And even if he didn't know Psychology, I still couldn't defend him.
      The writers hve admitted the good guy attitude they went for with him was harder to do than they thought. Plus, when real people and fictional characters have that good guy, can do no wrong arttitude, things they do wrong seem worse. That's why I critisize the original four so much. They have this we are better than everyone else attitude, and when they do wrong, play it off as if they do nothing wrong.
      I think the reason Tara worked so well on both levels of in-universe and in the writing, it had more to do with how Amber Benson played her over anything the writers wrote.
