Hint: If you´re playing ranger/melee,don´t get *adamantite armor. Instead,get the forzen armor, which gives out a way better buff. *I don´t recommend to switch the titanium armor for frozen armor (especially on expert) Edit: For mage/ sumonner,its the same with desert armor.
also a quick strategy for those who are having trouble fighting the blizzard mini-boss, try to find the amarok, and find a floating patch of snow, lea him to you, then use your amarok, and a around the snow patch and hit him. you will have to repeat this a couple of times, but it should work.

i dont know if this was changed in 1.3 but frozen armor requires you to kill at least 1 mech boss, and if it is just 1, you have to kill it multiple times
@Low-Tier Trash in pre-hardmode? not really. we (i play ranger the most so might as well xD) tend to stick to distance and dodge a lot, and since ranger armor is second best in defense a hit or two should be tolerable.
as for summoner i agree xD. i recently played it and i swear the game leveled up to bullet hell xD i really enjoyed it though, so people should start trying it especially since it's getting expanded in journey's end (RIP in advanced ;( )
yeah its almost impossible to get a slime staff and to get imp staff you have to fish up reaver shark which is hard and then go down to the underworld defenseless and mine some hellstone

It may not be the easiest of items to grind, but for early hardmode ranger, a magic quiver goes a long way for any arrow-using weapons. Great guide regardless.

@@sSliem this is not based on players preference. for example crystal storm has a dps of 214,4 and does 25 of damage with 4 mana, golden shower goes near with 180 but casting 7 mana for 21 of damage, and that fucking green crap has 108+~20 of debuff and cast 12 mana for a 36 damage. The ratio of damage/mana is way lower, and even then his dps is lower! Yeah, you can argue "but cursed flames benefit more against enemies with more hitbox and defense because he has more damage per hit and can hit multiple times with bouncing, so is better for the bosses" But then you remember that the fucking golden shower removes that defense, and that the fuckingf bosses are fast as hell, and can even OUTRUN the crappy proyectiles of that cursed shit, so they don t have even a chance of hitting on the first time, nonetheless multiple times. Also golden shower increases A LOT the dps of fast weapons, cuz it removes a chunk of the defenses, and that happens to counter the effect of having a lot of defenses, (thats because they don t anymore), and this effect can be applied to other weapons (rainbow cannon and the arp, for example, would be highly beneficiated by this); and crystal storm is simply and plainly better. It can make a lot more dps (nearly doubled) and it uses even less mana per second (34 against 36). AND ALL OF THAT is not counting anything like bonus percentual damage (which also reduces the effect of enemies high defenses, because they take now less percentaje of damage of each hit) or bonus mana reduction WHICH IS ROUNDED DOWN, so you can effectively reduce the mana consumed to 17. also the +20 dps from the debuff does not scalate with bonus damage, so there you go: crystal storm: 214,4*%bonus DPS, 34 mana per second, travels fast and fowards golden shower: 180*bonus DPS, 60 mana per second (not good alone, i can accept that), IT INCREASES EVERY FUCKING HIT THE DAMAGE BY 10 BY REDUCING 20 DEFENSES FROM THE ENEMY cursed flames: 108*bonus +~20 DPS, 36 mana per second, try to hit that to the hand laser of the skeleton prime, I DARE YOU

@The Ancestor I never said that, but when you're running around, fighting a boss, you don't have much time to regain your mana. And, the regen when moving takes like 30 seconds to recharge if you don't stop moving. And most bosses you fight around and after you get the golden shower don't really give you time to stand still and regain mana.
I'm pretty sure Meteor armor and Jungle armor are both pre-bosses. Though I can understand being intimidated by the relevant biomes if you're a clueless newbie.
Meteor armor cannot be obtained pre bosses considering the requirement is to smash 3 crimson hearts or shadow spheres that would spawn a boss unless you die to the boss and let him respawn
It's a pretty good guide. Though again, some players may want to experiment with other things. As with all guides, nothing is absolute. Each loadout has it's strengths, and weaknesses. I will contribute what I know : Melee = There's more accessory stacking than shown. If you wanna go down the damage path, the 5 most damage increase I could find are : Warrior Emblem, Avenger Emblem, Destroyer Emblem, Mechanical Glove, and Fire Gauntlet. They all stack, gives you more than 70% knockback, and gives you a lot of damage boost. Also Melee speed. Side accessories I don't personally use = Celestial Stone, Celestial Shell. They both stack. If you want some extra, use the sun stone + moon stone, alternate them according to your watch. Apparently each gives about 10% damage? (i might be wrong here because I didn't look up the wiki). And they are apparently very good and basically have an all-purpose-function because you get melee speed and crazy health regeneration when you stack them. Also the Werewolf buff benefits melee. Yoyo Bag (duh, it's on the video) but it helps a lot. Yoyos become twice as strong + you get a small barrier of defense (I don't see counterweights as an attack method, but suit yourself). Frozen Turtle Shell = The tank path. Reduces damage when below 50% health. Paladin Shield = Extra defense, though not really useful IMO. However if you wanna be a tank and help your teammates in multiplayer, you can now literally protect them. Also, wiki says paladin shield gives you an immunity to knockback, so you can dispose of that cobalt shield, unless you plan on making an obsidian shield or an ankh shield. Star Veil = More Invincinbility, more chances of survival. enough said. Master Ninja Gear = even more defense, not literally but the chance to dodge attacks (not get your health reduced even though you are visually hit) increases your chances of survival. You can dash to quickly close in on enemies OR avoid boss projectiles (trust me. you can boast with your unicorn and ufo mounts but every once in a while you'll get hit, and this might just save you if you have the reflexes), since in some game stages, melee is very close ranged unless you're using a Yoyo or Flail. Also, you can dodge the damage you were absorbing from your teammates via the Paladin's shield. Magic, Pre-Mech Bosses = A lot of people say cursed flames isn't worth it, and suggests Crystal Storm instead. It's the hallowed counterpart of "Things made out of spell tomes". It's basically a magical bouncing machinegun. I forgot if it pierces, but it's a favorite among magic players. Also apparently the Sky's Fracture is a pretty decent thing to get early hardmode but it's not listed, maybe because the list was about "Pre Mechanical Boss" and not "Early Hardmode". My Magic Accessories = Avenger Emblem, Celestial Emblem, Magic Cuffs, Sorcerer Emblem, Mana Flower. Again, you can substitute some of these for the celestial shell or it's counterparts if you prefer regen. Charm of Myths also helps for all classes, put it in the vanity slot and right click to switch it over to the "active accessories" before chugging your health potions in boss battles. I don't know jackstuff about Ranger and Summoner class. was never interested even though bows literally are the most important things to use in VERY early game. Thank you bows, but I am not gonna use bows forever.
the tsunami is an awesome weapon to get tho , or the phantasm for the moon lord, ranged is actually the class that can get the most highest dps , and don't have a bad defence on the armors.
Even though i understand your choice of pre boss mage armor, i would always reccomend using mage robes instead of traditional armor. Extra magic damage and mana really makes a difference and the lack of armor points isnt really that bad. I had no problem going in the jungle with a ruby robe which isn't even the strongest of the bunch.

True, the star cannon is optional thought. Its super pricey, and I don’t find myself making it. (also I don’t play ranger). But I understand your concern. I’m sure there is a lot of things he left out btw, but he can’t get em all. Just praise this for being a great guide and easy source of funding loadouts for classes.

for pre bosses magic, you can get the mana flower. for pre hard mode you can also get the demon scythe which is REALLY good against WOF. good video and damn nice editing :)
Xiarno Lol just make the key/money farm HappyDays did long ago. That's how I got mine. Plus you don't necessarily need lihzard bricks, you can just plant grass seeds.
For people that are saying that the Mana Flower is Hardmode only: You can do fishing to get greater Mana Potions pre-hardmode. I found them in a Gold Crate.
The magic quiver and shadow flame bow would’ve been nice inclusions for the ranger class (Specifically pre-mech bosses), and you didn’t touch anything from the old one’s army event despite that event adding some really great armor for all four classes, and lots of good stuff for summoner builds

another mage weapon good at mythril/adamantide armor is the laser rifle got from defeating the wall of flesh and the demon scythe is enough good to carry you till hardmode because it can also defeat wall of flesh, but this is actually well done it can help a lot of people i can see you actually tried to make a good guide through the whole game
I just wanted to point out for pre hardmode ranger, the Starcannon is just as OP as the minishark Given how expensive ammo can get for it however I can see why it was excluded. Still though it's reccomended if you have the stars to spare
I said natural wiring, traps exist naturally underground. Find one, get a pressure plate from underground, put the slime statue on one end of the wiring and the pressure plate on the other end, lava under the statue
that receding bar at the bottom of the screen marking slide changes is one of the best editing tricks I have ever seen and you are a saint for it. GamersNexus uses a similar method but with vertical bars on either side which drop down over time, marking how long a graph will be up. Honestly I like your version better, the only problem is that on the mobile app with the phone in portrait mode youtube's own progress bar covers yours :(
summoner pre-bosses... you have to kill the queen bee in order to get the hornet staff also getting a slime staff that early is pretty rare to happen, so i´d say the imp staff is the way to go on a summoner playthrough ^

Why you have put hornet staff in prebosses summoner. Its crafted from bee wax which drops from queen bee. So to get that staff you will be after bosses

For mixed loadouts yes, because they provide bonuses for both, but for focused builds titanium/adamantium work better. That said, this guide provides a guideline, it isn't something set in stone and you may adapt things to suit you better
I'm MAGE and I used Frost Armor BEFORE mechbosses and kept it until Post-Golem no joke, the defense was amazing and yes i know there are mage-based armor but frost is just so good for early hardmode
you don't need an influx weaver for fishron if you have vamp knives, wings better than harpie wings, and some wooden platforms you can easily solo fishron pre-golem as melee

1:01 it is possible to get a fire gauntlet at this point in the game and the avenger emblem on the old gen console, mobile and 3ds versions of the game
The only problem is you can't make an Avenger Emblem until you have the mech boss souls. But other stuff like Power Glove and Magma Stone can be found and made.

It may not be the easiest of items to grind, but for early hardmode ranger, a magic quiver goes a long way for any arrow-using weapons. Great guide regardless.

@@sSliem this is not based on players preference. for example crystal storm has a dps of 214,4 and does 25 of damage with 4 mana, golden shower goes near with 180 but casting 7 mana for 21 of damage, and that fucking green crap has 108+~20 of debuff and cast 12 mana for a 36 damage. The ratio of damage/mana is way lower, and even then his dps is lower!
Yeah, you can argue "but cursed flames benefit more against enemies with more hitbox and defense because he has more damage per hit and can hit multiple times with bouncing, so is better for the bosses" But then you remember that the fucking golden shower removes that defense, and that the fuckingf bosses are fast as hell, and can even OUTRUN the crappy proyectiles of that cursed shit, so they don t have even a chance of hitting on the first time, nonetheless multiple times. Also golden shower increases A LOT the dps of fast weapons, cuz it removes a chunk of the defenses, and that happens to counter the effect of having a lot of defenses, (thats because they don t anymore), and this effect can be applied to other weapons (rainbow cannon and the arp, for example, would be highly beneficiated by this); and crystal storm is simply and plainly better. It can make a lot more dps (nearly doubled) and it uses even less mana per second (34 against 36).
AND ALL OF THAT is not counting anything like bonus percentual damage (which also reduces the effect of enemies high defenses, because they take now less percentaje of damage of each hit) or bonus mana reduction WHICH IS ROUNDED DOWN, so you can effectively reduce the mana consumed to 17. also the +20 dps from the debuff does not scalate with bonus damage, so there you go:
crystal storm: 214,4*%bonus DPS, 34 mana per second, travels fast and fowards
golden shower: 180*bonus DPS, 60 mana per second (not good alone, i can accept that), IT INCREASES EVERY FUCKING HIT THE DAMAGE BY 10 BY REDUCING 20 DEFENSES FROM THE ENEMY
cursed flames: 108*bonus +~20 DPS, 36 mana per second, try to hit that to the hand laser of the skeleton prime, I DARE YOU
You forgot the Infinity Gauntlet, it's even better than the fire gauntlet.
You only get it in the endgame.

Why would you ever swap Golden Shower with the Magic Harp? It **halves everything's defense**. Great tool to swap to, then swap off of.

I can tell that you have been using discord a lot by putting 2 *’s instead of 1 * to bold things, it’s ok I make the same mistake sometimes too xD
@The Ancestor I never said that, but when you're running around, fighting a boss, you don't have much time to regain your mana. And, the regen when moving takes like 30 seconds to recharge if you don't stop moving. And most bosses you fight around and after you get the golden shower don't really give you time to stand still and regain mana.

Meteor armor cannot be obtained pre bosses considering the requirement is to smash 3 crimson hearts or shadow spheres that would spawn a boss unless you die to the boss and let him respawn

It's a pretty good guide. Though again, some players may want to experiment with other things.
As with all guides, nothing is absolute. Each loadout has it's strengths, and weaknesses. I will contribute what I know :
Melee = There's more accessory stacking than shown. If you wanna go down the damage path, the 5 most damage increase I could find are : Warrior Emblem, Avenger Emblem, Destroyer Emblem, Mechanical Glove, and Fire Gauntlet. They all stack, gives you more than 70% knockback, and gives you a lot of damage boost. Also Melee speed.
Side accessories I don't personally use = Celestial Stone, Celestial Shell. They both stack. If you want some extra, use the sun stone + moon stone, alternate them according to your watch. Apparently each gives about 10% damage? (i might be wrong here because I didn't look up the wiki). And they are apparently very good and basically have an all-purpose-function because you get melee speed and crazy health regeneration when you stack them. Also the Werewolf buff benefits melee.
Yoyo Bag (duh, it's on the video) but it helps a lot. Yoyos become twice as strong + you get a small barrier of defense (I don't see counterweights as an attack method, but suit yourself).
Frozen Turtle Shell = The tank path. Reduces damage when below 50% health.
Paladin Shield = Extra defense, though not really useful IMO. However if you wanna be a tank and help your teammates in multiplayer, you can now literally protect them. Also, wiki says paladin shield gives you an immunity to knockback, so you can dispose of that cobalt shield, unless you plan on making an obsidian shield or an ankh shield.
Star Veil = More Invincinbility, more chances of survival. enough said.
Master Ninja Gear = even more defense, not literally but the chance to dodge attacks (not get your health reduced even though you are visually hit) increases your chances of survival. You can dash to quickly close in on enemies OR avoid boss projectiles (trust me. you can boast with your unicorn and ufo mounts but every once in a while you'll get hit, and this might just save you if you have the reflexes), since in some game stages, melee is very close ranged unless you're using a Yoyo or Flail. Also, you can dodge the damage you were absorbing from your teammates via the Paladin's shield.
Magic, Pre-Mech Bosses = A lot of people say cursed flames isn't worth it, and suggests Crystal Storm instead. It's the hallowed counterpart of "Things made out of spell tomes". It's basically a magical bouncing machinegun. I forgot if it pierces, but it's a favorite among magic players. Also apparently the Sky's Fracture is a pretty decent thing to get early hardmode but it's not listed, maybe because the list was about "Pre Mechanical Boss" and not "Early Hardmode".
My Magic Accessories = Avenger Emblem, Celestial Emblem, Magic Cuffs, Sorcerer Emblem, Mana Flower.
Again, you can substitute some of these for the celestial shell or it's counterparts if you prefer regen. Charm of Myths also helps for all classes, put it in the vanity slot and right click to switch it over to the "active accessories" before chugging your health potions in boss battles.
I don't know jackstuff about Ranger and Summoner class. was never interested even though bows literally are the most important things to use in VERY early game. Thank you bows, but I am not gonna use bows forever.

the tsunami is an awesome weapon to get tho , or the phantasm for the moon lord, ranged is actually the class that can get the most highest dps , and don't have a bad defence on the armors.

An even better yoyo you can find in pre hardmode is Code 1 which you buy from the traveling merchant, that thing lasted me all through pre hardmode

Even though i understand your choice of pre boss mage armor, i would always reccomend using mage robes instead of traditional armor. Extra magic damage and mana really makes a difference and the lack of armor points isnt really that bad. I had no problem going in the jungle with a ruby robe which isn't even the strongest of the bunch.

True, the star cannon is optional thought. Its super pricey, and I don’t find myself making it. (also I don’t play ranger). But I understand your concern. I’m sure there is a lot of things he left out btw, but he can’t get em all. Just praise this for being a great guide and easy source of funding loadouts for classes.

for pre bosses magic, you can get the mana flower.
for pre hard mode you can also get the demon scythe which is REALLY good against WOF.

For people that are saying that the Mana Flower is Hardmode only: You can do fishing to get greater Mana Potions pre-hardmode. I found them in a Gold Crate.

The magic quiver and shadow flame bow would’ve been nice inclusions for the ranger class (Specifically pre-mech bosses), and you didn’t touch anything from the old one’s army event despite that event adding some really great armor for all four classes, and lots of good stuff for summoner builds

another mage weapon good at mythril/adamantide armor is the laser rifle got from defeating the wall of flesh and the demon scythe is enough good to carry you till hardmode because it can also defeat wall of flesh, but this is actually well done it can help a lot of people i can see you actually tried to make a good guide through the whole game

For the 2 post plantera events, for summoners and warriors, go with Pumpkin moon. For mages and Rangers, go with frost moon.
Who else loves how summoner armor always looks like the summons from the staff it has in it’s set.

I said natural wiring, traps exist naturally underground. Find one, get a pressure plate from underground, put the slime statue on one end of the wiring and the pressure plate on the other end, lava under the statue

GamersNexus uses a similar method but with vertical bars on either side which drop down over time, marking how long a graph will be up. Honestly I like your version better, the only problem is that on the mobile app with the phone in portrait mode youtube's own progress bar covers yours :(

summoner pre-bosses... you have to kill the queen bee in order to get the hornet staff also getting a slime staff that early is pretty rare to happen, so i´d say the imp staff is the way to go on a summoner playthrough ^

dont actually know what frost armour is, best forbidden armor is a pain to get and kind of unnecasary
Nah, Titanium's defense stats are too good to ignore
But adamantite armour falls flat a little, I'm my opinion.
And frost armour has amazing offensive capabilities.
For mixed loadouts yes, because they provide bonuses for both, but for focused builds titanium/adamantium work better. That said, this guide provides a guideline, it isn't something set in stone and you may adapt things to suit you better
I'm MAGE and I used Frost Armor BEFORE mechbosses and kept it until Post-Golem no joke, the defense was amazing
and yes i know there are mage-based armor but frost is just so good for early hardmode
you don't need an influx weaver for fishron if you have vamp knives, wings better than harpie wings, and some wooden platforms you can easily solo fishron pre-golem as melee
For pre bosses it shouldn’t be gold/platinum armor it should be meteor armor :/all you need to do is smash a heart or 2

Just use meteor shots pre hard mode, and then use crystal. Then you can decide if u want ichor for more dmg or chloro for easier aim
1:01 it is possible to get a fire gauntlet at this point in the game and the avenger emblem on the old gen console, mobile and 3ds versions of the game
The only problem is you can't make an Avenger Emblem until you have the mech boss souls. But other stuff like Power Glove and Magma Stone can be found and made.
