Thank you so much for how to set up the arm. I bought the Blue Compass stand only, but no instructions came in the box. Until I saw your video, I couldn't figure out why the arm kept snapping back. I watched three other videos before yours, and you're the one who explained how the mic and adjusting the screw would stop the snapping back. Now I'm all set up.
thank u .. this arm was a struggle .. and made life a lot easier
Glad it helped!
Thanls for the help i just got the caster and the radius 3, i had a yeit X that i bought last year but i was finally able to afford everythign else. Again thanks for the help in setting everything up really appreciate the video and content quality.
thank you for showing how the little snap things work. i was worried i was going to break them and the manual is useless in this regard
is there a way to lock the arm and mount so it doesnt swing back and forth
I just got this and I am wondering the same thing as my table is not perfectly flat. The arm keeps swinging to my face.
No, the Yeti design team did not consider that lol
@@Chuchuguitarif your table is not flat then it doesn’t work like that, try find a flat space
I am fine with adjusting the arm and mike where I want it, but having difficulty with the entire arm swinging away from me at the base. How do you solve that?
Thank you so much! You made set up so easy and answered all the questions I had! Great instructional video!
Glad it was helpful!
What hard case did you use for your Yeti & Boom Arm? Nice setup guide!
The nut for the shock mount doesn't actually hold the angle of the shock mount in place...is this a defect? Seems like a basic thing for the factory to get right...tolerance so something can actually be tight?
Very informative video, you earned a new sub! Thanks!
Thanks for the sub!
where buy you that arm? i have a bleu yeti to but i dhotn find a arm
Thank you so much brother. But This I team is good , but to setup is is hard
Please please tell me of o can make this compatible with the yeti nano. I bought one and it doesn’t appear to work…
Thanks for the video Tech & Design!
👍🏻
this video helped me alot and i will be buying one for my studio
Thank you so much for this sir, I had yo get another yeti mic cause I bent the usb port inside of it. Also I was trying to figure out why my boom arm kept going back into a straight position LOL
I need to transport the boom arm on a long flight. What do you recommend me doing (cheaper/safer)?
put it back in its original box because it will need to go inside your checked in baggage
I set it up so that the mic is right under my chin and the spring in the boom arm just broke, I don't know if I was or wasn't supposed to set it up like that. The first arm is standing upright, the second one is bent almost at a 45-degree angle, and the third one is horizontally straight.
A quick question. What is that little thing that you set the boom arm on? does it come with the whole thing?
Does this work for ps4? Pls I need to know
5:19 mine does not lock or adjust according to the knob there. it just does what it wants. what do i do?
Tech: showing something
Me: i don’t have it (😂)
😯
I'm having issues getting the Compass to be at a almost V position because I have limited space, and want the boom arm on my left/right. Wondering what I'm doing wrong. Any suggestions? Thanks.
When I screw on the shock mount, it’s not aligned with the arm, like yours is. What am I doing wrong?
follow this video and you should be fine
which way do you adjust the tension? like more tension does what? less tension does what? I want my mic to be much lower, but no matter if I go more or less, it doesn't stay put. It keeps extending
same problem. seems like it needs a lot of counter weight in order to make it do what you want. not exactly what i wanted in a product to be completely counterbalanced.
Yeah even at the end of his example you can see the arm extending again before he cuts away.
@@MichaelDart Bro honestly what I ended up doing is getting a couple little sandbag things like people use as weights for ankles to give it more weight. What I noticed is the arm is meant to be weighed down a TON. currently I upgraded to a Sure SM7B and it weighs it down nicely(it could still use maybe a TINY bit of weight as it's not perfect), but does the job much better. I'm sure there are better arms if you can return this and get another tbh.
The most important question for me is, is this thing universal with mics other than the Blue Yeti? I'd like a mic arm but this seems very expensive compared to other offerings but if I can hook up a legit XLR mic in the future from an actual good brand I am fine with me being this boom arm.
The boom arm also comes with a mic, Which is why it is so expensive
@@teched3503 Well i was talking about the arm on its own at the time. I find 99 bucks for a mic arm pretty expensive but I bit the bullet and it hasn't failed yet.
Ah, I see. Boom mics are expensive unfortunately. Glad to hear its working well though
Can the stock mount in this video specially for the blue yeti work on like a vocal shield/Isolation shield
That was very helpful. Thanks
Hi, great video, thank you.
And tips on how to plug in headphones? On the original stand for the mic it's easy to plug into the mic itself but now with the boom arm, that means the cable hangs and hits the mic. Plugging into the laptop means I can't actually hear via the mic so are there particular settings to change? (I use an Macbook). Thanks
You could possibly get an extension cable for your headphones, and run the cable through the race way on the arm
i'll be getting this soon, seems like a easy setup!
very easy
Thanks, this was helpful
Glad it helped
You’re a lifesaver! 🏆
Great video! Thanks for the info
i got it for 60 bucks, worth it?
more than worth it, lucky
thanks for video!
Glad to help out 😃
Can you use it with other mic
Like the hyper x quad cast
How do i take off the boom arm
People tell me the audio isn’t very good and can’t understand me how to fix that?
just dont use hubs or adapters, plug straight into your computer
does this work with the yeti nano ?
Yep. The Compass arm is compatible with any Blue microphone and a lot of other mics too
Tension is fine for me. My issue is at the actual base. It twists because when it's inserted into the base.. it isn't clicked in. It has freedom to turn.
It’s meant to be like that for easy mobility
can someone tell me what length the cable come with the blue yeti ?
I have the blue snowball mic and that boom arm. I’ve loosened the bottom screw so much that it’s not in anymore. Even then my snowball still won’t stay down and rises way up.
yes because that’s not the only thing you need to do. please watch this video
@@TechandDesign I know I also need to use the little parts at the 3 bends to tighten, but those at their tightest still doesn't work with my snowball. I've watch your video and a lot of others on this mic. I've heard others having similar problems.
@@cheesepuffff yeah i can tighten the friction knobs and spring tension screw as much as they go and my compass still snaps back into place
@@cheesepuffff did you ever figure this out? i’m having the same problem
@@Trashimus did you ever figure this out? i’m having the same problem
Mine don’t stay 😒
I broke my wire does anyone know where to get one
Thanks
So I've seen some other youtubers talk about this arm and they've shown their issue where the mic will slowly fall down over time..... is this an actual issue? or do they just not know about that screw.
that can happen if they don’t set it up correctly. but if you follow this video, that won’t happen
You don’t use a pre-amp?
haven’t seen the need for it
Oh my god... the first solid minute I bit my tongue to the point of bleeding holding back screaming out... "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID!!!"
😱
I bought this because I have the Yeti microphone. But a warning to anyone who is interested in this arm, however loose you adjust the tension its still going to have the tension of a horny teenager.
hubs are but powered usb 3.0 hub are good... remember computers don't come with a jillian USB ports
"You guys."
yes
Listening to the first 50 seconds without video sounds terrible
Hasse den arm Junge dieses zurückkommen ist so schlimm, empfehle ich 0
I sent u a freind request my epic is Visible_Guest or Invisible_guest
I accept all epic friend requests
@@TechandDesign cool i sent u one rn is ur epic techanddesign if not then i sent it to someone else so hopefully its u if it is accept the request please thank you
This damn thing is one of the worst arms out there .. i literally need to put 2,5 kg weight on it and loosen the tension to max for it to work like it should . What in the world its made for ... carrying babies ?
And im second
Mic arm sucks.
any ideas how to hook a pop filter to this type of boom mic. not sure how to attach it to this type of boom
pretty easy. just to the arm.
