Regarding the cardio, I'm curious then why all top level boxers run? Is there something to be said about general cardiovascular efficiency? From my understanding a lot of pro MMA and BJJ guys do quite a bit of cardio outside of BJJ. I feel like those stories of elite marathon runners coming in and gassing out is because they have zero clue whats going on and move wildly inefficiently (as well as adrenaline dumping), it's not necessarily a reflection of their cardio not being applicable. Same thing happens to fresh big bodybuilders. I bet if you took a black belt and magically gave them that elite marathon runner's cardiovascular system on top of what they had already they'd have much better round recovery. Now is getting that extra cardio worth the time investment? That's more up for debate to me, but I highly doubt it isn't a factor at all.
Bjj is more eccentric workouts boxing is more cardio and more explosive training Do sprinters run long distance for there meets or do they do short burst of explosive sprints and explosive training. It’s simply just different. If I could run 25 miles at 6 min pace it ain’t gonna help me with bjj one bit. Completely different movements and different muscles.
I'm curious to hear your opinion on assault bikes becoming popular for BJJ to improve cardio. There is a level of resistance with it and cardio challenge at the same time compared to other methods that has no resistance at all. Love the fact highlighted here that with out resistance the cardio excercise being practiced will not translate well. Totally agree!!
Part 2. Let's go! 👏
Love what you guys do! You're legends

Airdyne is my favorite for cardio, followed by sled/prowler, and rower.
Anyone who tells you that your Jujitsu wouldn't benefit from S&C is dead wrong. If the coach says that to you, leave their gym.
