I love Phish. It's one of those bands that people will try to "out-fan" you, if you know what I mean. I love their studio albums which some people think is lame, I guess but I don't care, I think the albums are awesome. Obviously their live show is supernaturally great, too, and you could spend a year watching all the live stuff online.
One of the few concerts you can go to where the majority of the crowd does not have their phones out. Everyone is engaged up out of their seats, arms and elbows, getting down🕺
My dude! I was a metal head and pretty much strictly metal when I was in middle school and a bit into High School. My friend told me about Phish, and I wasn't interested. I was like "Grateful Dead is Ok, so I don't need to hear Phish". Since I played piano, he told me "Listen to this AT LEAST to hear the dude on the piano". Well, in the next two weeks I bought all the albums and will talk them up to anyone who will listen. Incredibly talented, and they don't let that get in the way of the groove.
@Jamel: Phish is a group I've heard of for years but never listened to. I'm discovering them along with you. Thanks. I hear a lot of Jimi Hendrix influence funk rhythm in that guitar solo. That bass was killing it.
I'm jealous. I've been obsessed since '93 when I was a teenager, and WISH I could start over and listen to everything fresh and new again. At first I had favorite songs, then favorite live shows, then favorite tours, then favorite years. Then, I saw them live and experienced something I'll never forget.
Just from hearing interviews with guitarist Trey Anastasio, it’s obvious Hendrix is favorite artist. He said for a long time he listened to Hendrix and Band of Gypsys “Machine Gun” before every show to get fired up
@@pebblesanddirt Nice to know that my ear is still working in picking out the Hendrix influences. Thanks for the confirmation. Yeah, Machine Gun would get one fired up to play.

Was a Phish phan in the 90s, experiencing them because of their proximity to the Grateful Dead scene. When Jerry died, and pushed with my own life’s problems at the time, I fell out of the “scene.” It continues to be one my biggest regrets, missing out on all that happiness and togetherness for all those years. Seeing you experiencing this music, with all you’ve been through, and sharing it BACK to me through the lens of one who understands where I’m coming from, even though we are so different, brings me joy every day. Taking my kids (6 and 9) to there first concert in a month (Billy Strings) and pledge to foster their creativity and love for music as best I can. You’re a part of that. Thanks brother. 🙏
Not true.. Jerry passed in August 1995 but Phish was able to sell out Madison Square Garden on Dec 30th, 1994. They had a huge fan base beforehand, and more so after.
Man I can't tell you how much joy it brings me to see someone experience Phish for the first time & truly get it & give phish respect they deserve. Phish literally changed... no saved my life with they music. I remember in the 90's being into jimi Hendrix & zeppelin. Thanks for doing what you do!
Love ya! 😃
I get goosebumps all the time on the Relisten but something about watching Jamel watch it for the first time it’s almost like I’m watching for the first time too. LOVE it. 🤘🏽
I love Jamel, he is so cute , cool, and seems like such a cool guy to hang with
I, too, knew I knew this Stevie Wonder song because it was Stevie Wonder, but didnt know it by name. It came up on SeriusXM yesterday and as soon as I heard a note I knew that I knew :D Paige, the piano player, did some stuff with Tenacious D also, and played with them when they did their shows in Winooski VT including an awesome Beatles medley. Love this cover, too! Thanks for the Phish, love to hear more of the Early stuff too, thanks man!
Hey now Jamel! YOU'VE GOTTA SEE PHISH LIVE. I'm sure Phish Phans, would love to see you document your experience! Like seeing the Dead,⚡as soon as u open your car door, lol, u won't believe what your in for! And you'll be pleasantly blown away! ☮️&💞to you & your wife!
AHHH it’s so cool watching you experience these for the first time!!!
Hell yeah they are Jammin 🎸🥁🎼
Respect, Jamal! Your positive vibe bleeds through the screen and truly reflects what we phans experience at a live show. Hope to see you at one soon!
So upbeat and positive, love what you do here.
I'm a phish fan and I haven't heard that one before that was funking badass
Ok I’ve mentioned it before but you GOTTA do the Flecktones. I think I’ll make it a mission to keep commenting until it happens 🤣
I did all of summer 2012 and this is by far my favorite show of the tour, 07/06/12 a close second. The ghost that preceded this boogie was great and the If I Could that follows is pure bliss.
yo dude, LOVE your reactions to all of it, i randomly pick anything out, feel you. seen over 500 phish shows, over 200 actual dead shows with jerry and ton of jerrry band and trey band. its so funny, your reactions to certain bands remind me of turning on my friends to music and their reactions....its the same as yours, first confused, then flabbergasted, then fan. so yer like my old friends i turned onto different genres of music. its all so fun! keep on keeping on buddy
Jamel - you need to go see Phish live! You will be hooked! I was...at that was almost 28 years ago. Seeing them live is a feast for the ears, eyes - and the soul! They're incredible! And being in the crowd with all the other beautiful souls brings it to a whole other level! 🥰⭕️❤
The chair dancing was off the charts on this one! Thanks for bringing in some more Phish Jamel!
The trippy bass sound is being processed through a device called an envelope filter most likely an EHX Qtron
Some cover songs they kill:
Crosseyed and Painless by Talking Heads
Loving Cup by Rolling Stones
Theme from 2001 by Richard Strauss
Don’t forget sneaking sally thru the alley classic cover
@@tonyharris4389 damn right
Oh this is one of the better ones!!!!! Love this boogie!
Brother J. Great to hear Stevie Wonder music so close to MLK day. Every MLK day I always make it a point to put on Songs in the Key of Life in it’s entirety.
Worcester! I was there COOKING in the centrum. This is my all time favorite Boogie on…rippin!
