Coventry was the home of British motor manufacturing. Companies like Alvis, Armstrong Siddely, SS (Jaguar), Humber, Standard, Triumph, Hillman, Lea Francis, Riley, Lanchester and many many more. All gone now. I used to live just 6 miles from Coventry and made regular visits to the motor museum in the city centre. Essential for any visitor!

I really liked Coventry, I visited the cathedral for a concert earlier this year, it was an awesome venue. My hotel was quite historic as it used to be the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building.

I really would love to go back and stay in Coventry - we really didn't give ourselves enough time. Happy to hear that you also enjoyed your time there!

@@ACanadianAbroadMichelle so many places to see, so little time. Perhaps you could extend it to include a visit to the Peak District (White and Dark Peaks)?

Coventry was a marvellous old city little changed by time until November 1940. Very little of the old Coventry remains after the German visit.

I loved looking at pre-Blitz photographs and listening to Eric’s nana tell stories about her childhood. Sounded like a wonderful place to grow up!

I'm really glad you showed Coventry, and the Terrible death and destruction, All we seem to hear about is what happened in German cities, and Never what the people of Coventry had to endure.

I live in Coventry. My Dad and Grandparents lived through the blitz, only about a mile from town centre . I remember their house had a few battle scars.

Great video as always Michelle. I really must visit Coventry Cathedral, especially as it's only an hour up the road for me! Also I'm guessing that had the stand off on the bridge happened in Canada both drivers would have reversed to let the other through.

I really enjoyed Coventry Cathedral. So much to learn while you are there! Haha - Eric and I were also discussing this... a Canadian resolution might have looked something like , ''No, you go... no, you...''

Such a shame that the cathedral was lost, imagine how many magnificent buildings were lost around the country, especially in London.

Alfred Herbert wished for the cathedral to be reconstructed to as it was before but of course got shouted down, no doubt. Shoe box buildings all over now! Greetings from a brit residing in the USA

I've spent much time in Coventry in recent years due to my son being there in university
Although the modernist architecture is not universally liked, it does grow on you and you can imagine that it must have appeared striking when new in the early optimistic postwar years

Striking still today! I hope your son is enjoying his time in Uni. I really enjoyed exploring Coventry; felt like we didn't give ourselves enough time to see it all though.
