  • Naya Rivera’s father is giving fans a heartbreaking update. George Rivera spoke out to People and revealed that the day the “Glee” alum went missing while boating at Lake Piru in California with her son Josey last summer, she actually called him and told him she wanted to go swimming in the lake. George says he advised her against it saying, “I kept telling her, ‘Don’t get out of the boat! Don’t get out of the boat! It will drift away when you’re in the water. It was just heartbreaking.”

    He did all he could, I’m sure he thinks about how it would be today if she didn’t get in the water. It’s sad her family is reminded of it so much, it’s hard losing someone so I can’t imagine it being in the media. I hope they’re all doing okay.

    Why did she get out of that boat when she had a little boy in the boat. It is so tragic, but as a mother I do not understand why she would not stay in the boat with him, she took such a big risk of getting out of that boat. ugh, not judging, just so heartbreaking.

      I wish that she would have at least, AT LEAST put her life vest on. Considering the fact that she already decided to go against her father's advice, the least that she could have done was to put that vest on ☹️

      Bee, I am with you. There is something very wrong with this story. Why in God's name would she go out in a boat- alone with a small child- after being warned?? And then leave the child ALONE in the boat while she went swimming? No, she was not thinking right. I have long suspected another facet to this story, perhaps mental illness. I am deeply sorry for the loss of that woman, but her child could easily have died, too.

    • @josephensworth7044

      @@marymckenna6482 My understanding is that they BOTH went into the water for a swim? The child was wearing his life vest and she was not. It's suspected that, since the boat was unanchored, it started to drift as they were both in the water and that she tried to go after it, but sadly wasn't able to. She only managed to get her son back on, and unfortunately wasn't able to get back on herself, which is believed to be the reason for her drowning. I may be mistaking or getting my info mixed up. But I think I've read that somewhere.

      @@josephensworth7044 You sound like such a nice man, Joseph. I am not sure of the facts, either, and do not know if there were any witnesses. By "alone" I meant that there was no third party to pinch-hit in an emergency. I would not ever recommend anyone going out in a boat alone with a small child because of the hazards.

      To be honest I do. I love Naya but since I found out about her death last year and read all the information of what happened it just doesn't make much sense to me. The story doesnt add up. If Naya helped him back on the boat then disappeared under the water, why would Josey be so calm when they found him? Wouldn't he be terrified and awake instead of calm and sleeping? Wouldn't he have probably gotten scared and jumped into the water to her as a four year old? I dont see it possible for a drowning person to help their son on an unanchored pontoon especially one that is drifting in deep waters. We will never know what really happened but all I know is that the story doesnt make any sense.

    Oh man, she must have really REALLY wanted that swim! And who could blame her? We were going through a major global pandemic and lockdown due to Covid crisis so she probably just wanted to make the most of that boating trip after having to do nothing but stay home for quite some time. It's just sad that she had to pay the price for it ☹️ I wish she would have at least put her life vest on considering the fact that her father already warned her not to swim. I think her son’s recollection of events doesn’t call for suicide..At all. He said she tried her best to get into the boat but couldn’t and he saw her disappear into the water. It is almost impossible to drown voluntarily this way..
      He said the boat drifted away and she used all her strength to swim back to it and boost him onto the boat. He didn’t invent all those details...
      Now more important: why would she possibly take her son to witness her committing suicide? It makes no sense at all. She loved him too much to inflict this upon him. Stop with this nonsense wit is beyond disrespectful...

      @c.a.w5736 3 года назад

      @@ASMRlifeFR To be honest I love Naya and we will never know what really happened. Most speculations about her death makes sense. She could have simply swam with him, put him back onto the boat, put him to sleep then jumped back into the water knowing that if she committed suicide he would be in safe hands seeing that he is asleep and that the persons who work at the place would come looking for the pontoon when it doesnt return on time. It can also be that they both went for a swim, she put him back on the boat, put him to sleep then got back into the water to swim by herself but the pontoon started drifting, she tried swimming towards, was unable to and probably drowned. There is more to this tragedy than we know.
