An easy way to keep the top flat is to lay a piece of plywood on top of the hedge . Then put the hedge trimmer on top of the plywood, and simply rotate the trimmer around in a circle or to cut at both ends of the plywood. After that pick up the plywood and move it to the newly trimmed area and repeat the process all the way down the hedge till its all cut to the same level.
Dear David, taking into consideration that u have more than 50 years experience in gardening, i have a question for if u could give ur contact to ask. my email is vshukurova@yahoo.com
These hedging tips and tricks are fantastic! 🌿✂ The advice is practical and easy to follow, and I love how you break down each step for perfect results. My garden is going to look amazing thanks to these great ideas. Thanks for sharing your expertise and making gardening so accessible!
I am so lucky to have a best friend who's daughter dances at Dance Academy USA. I get to go to the dance productions and watch all of the amazing kids and instructors show off their skills.
That’s a great instructional video on maintaining hedges. Pleasure to watch. I trim hedges for a living and it’s about time I get to see a video full of good information
‘Best time to do it when it’s nice & cool’.. check today’s temp - 44 (deg.c.) - check rest of week, all above 40 - yay Austraya!! Looks like it’ll be an early morning trim 😉
Thank you, very useful tips. I recently planted some these plant to tiny front garden. Looking forward to their growth and then applying your tips and tricks to maintain them.
I am reminded of tea plantations of my home district in southern India; thousands of women do this job to make a living. In that case, the cuttings are the produce -- tea.
I am constantly in awe at the ineptitude of wannabe gardeners in my country Trinidad & Tobago, who use brush cutters to hedge peoples' plants. I use my secateurs and hedge clippers for most the pruning and manicuring. My customers boast the healthiest of gardens while their neighbours only cry with jealousy. I thank you for this video for educating the not so knowledgeable home gardeners. You guys are amazing with all your projects, keep it up.
LOL I remember those hedge cutters from my youth, back in the 80's the old man used to make me cut all our hedges with those bloody things and it took *HOURS* Now I have my own place with hedges but a cordless hedge trimmer gets the job done in about 15 minutes and is a lot neater Never looked back
I been a gardener In LA & inland empire area for 25 years, those bushes would look much more crispy with a commercial trimmer and you can bust all those bushes around that house in about 2 hours with a worker cleaning up all the clippings behind you .. great video though !
I’m confused, where are you going to plant those propogations? Among the existing hedges to fill them out? Or do they get planted in a hedge free location?
Pretty sure the first hedge people are asking about is a lilly pilly. He mentions it at about 1:25 and looks like the same thing as in the first demonstration.
Hi Patricia, it’s nice meeting you here.. I’m Edward, it would be nice getting to know you,if that’s ok with you? My mom once said good friends are never too much to have. if you don’t mind, can we be friends?? Lovely smile you got there on your profile picture😊.
