Ngl, they could have actually did something where they kept ratchets personality from the first game while also adding in that he just appreciates Qwark and the galactic rangers saving the galaxy and not being a complete Qwark fanboy trying to be a hero or trying to join them. The galactic rangers could be left out of the movie just so it could only be that ratchet doesn't want to be dragged in with clank to go see Qwark, which pretty much just means that it could tie more into a retelling of the first game
Remember is a movie for kids. We met the original Ratchet 14 years ago, there's other sagas that has done the same shifts and they keep being loved. It's right he passed from an edgy character pretty stubborn and it's hard but strong relationship with Clank to a childish young lombax with a dream. For the OGs it looks like they've killed oour character, but for they kids they tried to encourage with the background message if it has, Ratchet is a symbol of improvement and effort. The problem with the remake is, that we, the community, are as stubborn as Ratchet used to be and cannot accept a change in the main character. I'd love to see a more rude character on Ratchet in the remakes and some discord moments with Clank, but not the original edgy guy and lost half of the movie being almost enemies and then friends. Also, we've warned. They said REMAKE, not REMASTER.

The “you coming” scene is like the most iconic. Why would they get rid of it? Probably because they didn’t have the emotional connection that they had in the game. But stilllll
These scenes looked like they could have helped. Even when clank is just excited to go with ratchet. They barely had chemistry in the film. Also loved the target acquired scene.
Interesting factoid: I know for a fact that the scene that was supposed to happen right at 4:15 is Drek’s intro video about Derek Industries was deleted yet used in the 2016 movie’s tie-in game of the same name. In fact, the game itself is more or less like a remake of the very first Ratchet & Clank game ever.
As a movie, it was alright. As a Ratchet and Clank movie retelling the story of the first game it was appalling. Clank gets sidelined as soon as they reach the Galactic Rangers. The Galactic Rangers, excluding Quark, don't serve any purpose beyond echoing whatever sentiment the plot needs to create or solve a conflict. They could be replaced by the bots from R+C3 or simply cut and nothing would be lost. Stallone's character exists solely to put his name on the movie poster despite him having all 3 lines in the movie. The entire cast doesn't have any kind of arc because they used their personalities from the later games when they're more mature. Ratchet and Clank themselves especially suffer from this as R+C1's story revolves around them starting as flawed people, suffering major hardships that test their beliefs and becoming heroes by the end. In the movie Ratchet is just himself from the later games but more cocky, gets moody in the 3rd act, gets a 1 minute pep-talk and then saves the day. Quark's betrayal is downplayed and doesn't form as big of a conflict to Ratchet as it should and Quark getting a redemption in this movie prevents the story of R+C2 working should a film get made of it as that story revolves around Quark intently putting an entire galaxy in danger for selfish fame. Dr Nefarious, while neat to see his pre-robot form, felt crowbarred in like some executive has a metric based requirement that he needed to appear (Nefarious is an excellent villain, he just doesn't need to be in EVERY game. Getting a bit fatigued here). Especially as he basically steals the 3rd act from Drek, despite being a good enough villain to carry the movie himself (dude rips planets apart to do a planetary real estate scam). Not a fan of Nefarious being the creator of the RYNO. Yeah it fits his character, but equally they could come up with a new character for that or leave it ambiguous. Also hate that the RYNO shown isn't the RYNO 1. I get it's to reduce costs by reusing game assets but it's an anachronism and the RYNO 1 isn't exactly a difficult gun design. Anyway that's my rant over. It was worth the movie ticket price but I'd only rewatch it if I was bored. Good animation, good voice acting, good visual quality, let down by the story being watered down compared to the game it's based on. Oh, and it kinda sucks how the game for the movie doesn't feature any redesigns of R+C1 guns but did make a redesign of the Bouncer from R+C2 AS A PRE-ORDER BONUS, that Ratchet should have access to at this point in the story's timeline.

Said every henchman in the history of cinema before immediately filling every space that isn't the target or a named character with gunfire unless the moment is dramatic enough in which case they'll get aimbot accurate for exactly one shot before returning to being as accurate as a blind stormtrooper in a sandstorm trying to shoot a fly.

Ratchet was already a Qwark fanboy, before the betrayal of Qwark in Ratchet & Clank 1 and his cowardice fully exposed in Ratchet & Clank 3.
Why turn Ratchet into a Qwark fanboy? That was a painful shift in character that pleased absolutely nobody.

To be fair Ratchet did, look up to Qwark according to a piece of dialogue in Up Your Arsenal.
