If you remove the positive wire before the negative wire and you touch something metal with your socket wrench, you'll get gain some welding experience 😂. Always remove the negative wire first. The positive wire is the captain of the ship: he is always the first one on the ship and the last one off the ship
Just take off the 3 screws and black alternator cover behind alternator then remove nut attached to block now wiggle alternator until it comes out ( of course remove front 2 bolts) took me 1 he max. Good luck! Now remember to remove cover from new one and install cover after attached to bracket.
Thank you, all the post I've seen requires removing the wiring harness / ecu. I did not want to do all that. Thank you again saved me so much time. That hidden bolt was a pain in the ass but I managed. I did not put that back on. Hopefully the main 3 bolt is good enough to kept the alternator in place.
It held up just fine really but after 2 months I decided to replace the serpentine belt and pulleys as well. While at it I decided to put it on for a peace of mind. Was much easier the second time around. Did everything in less than 1 1/2 hr. I bought a small ratchet with extender and was able to fasten it with ease. Removing the tensioner pully is opposite, rotate bolt clockwise to remove. Car is now 175k runs super smooth. Good luck
@@upyours6000 thank you. Gonna do it tomorrow. Any pointers? I'm gonna be replacing coolant and top hose because it's leaking. Hoping the alternator is easier on this than my 4runners
That rear bracket isn't mandatory. I've been going strong like 2 years without it. How has this alternator been holding up?? I hear these non Lexus brand alternators don't last long.
How is the alternator from pep boys holding up? I keep reading online and other videos people saying not to use the aftermarket alternators. They say Denso replacement only.
I wanted to thank you very much for your time and effort in making this video. I’m going to try to tackle this tomorrow. Any chance you live in New York? Lol thanks again buddy wish I could buy you a beer.
Thanks for the video man. After the install i got the traction control light on, check engine and check vsc. Any tips on that? Im hoping after driving a few miles it’ll clear.
those lights always come on for some reason any time there's ANY issue on the IS at all that triggers a light. I get them popping up for oxygen sensor to TPMS and even low wiper fluid warning. I am thinking that those lights come on because there's some electric fuse issues that are triggered when any warning is displayed on dash. I assume it is to remind you to replace the fuses when changing the parts out (alternator in this case) so that you have a fresh fuse just incase it blew when the warning came on.
Oh hell no that bracket aint going back in on mine
It’s essential lol
@@niichomaclean1268 mine has been removed for 2 years. So no not really

LOVE that analogy, gonna use that from now on! I guess I learned it the “old school” way, no analogies involved lol
I appreciate you for taking the time to post the process of removing and installing the alternator.
Thanks for the video. Great DIY info. Used it BOTH times I had to replace the alternator.

Best video out there! Thanks for taking the time to make it.
Thanks for the video, this is more difficult than I expected too but with your help it helped me a lot.
Very grateful for the time you took to create this video! Thanks bro!

Mine took a crap immediately as well are you having the same issues

Is it still working? I was told non-Denso ones don't last as long
I have a 2014 IS350, and you have WAY more room between the fan and belt/pulley system!!
How do you get to those bracket bolts

Hey same thing happen to me just today.. What happen??
any update on what you did to fix it ?
Same with mine
Shit i never saw these replies sorry. I honestly can’t remember what i did but i think it did clear after a few miles. Sorry

Have you ever seen the IS alternator smoke?
mine smoked when it started to go, smelled like it was burning too. know this is a year late but maybe it’ll give you some peace of mind lol
@@avttre5291 ty! Yea it was the culprit!!
That hidden bolt sucks, I ended up pulling the plastic shroud off the bottom of the car to get to it, still wasn't easy
How long did it take u to do
an hour or 2
Could you forst show how to test it?
Best is350 diy. Are those headlights oem?
Thank you very much for a great diy video.
One mistake. Disconnect negative and not positive terminal first
I just replaced mine but the voltage is lower than I expected it's only 13.5volts running 🤔
Bro mine is at 10😢
Appreciate you brother! Great info, thank you thank you!!
did anyone have a problem starting their car afterwards....I cant start mine now and its stuck in the garage
I would check the battery, the alternator keeps a car battery charger to keep running, but doesn't affect the start up.
Man I'd love to buy your car
Lol replaced mine last week
i can’t get that plug undone for the alternator. such a pain
Yea, it took me an hour and 15 minutes. I finally bought some picks and hooks and got it out in 2 minutes
