I rewatched this after going to dragoncon cosplaying as Asuka (I was wearing her bodysuit) and there was a middle aged man telling me “you’re dressed as my waifu”. The fact that some of these guys act like this in public is insane

@@cookieril *In California. I’ve seen three sources saying the same thing: In every state other than California, if it depicts a child in a sexual manner, it is considered CP. Even if it’s not a real child. Also, real children are obviously more important than drawings, but the drawings should also be taken more seriously then they’re being treated.
edit: feel like i didn’t quite write that last part correctly. What I mean is, if someone is getting off to something that looks, acts, and sounds like a child, then maybe some sort of action should be taken. That doesn’t mean real children should be taken any less seriously.
I relate to this at a very high level. Once, I walked by a car with anime stickers all over it and my assumption was that the driver was a weeb. Not only that, but the car had 2 body pillows: one in the passenger seat and one at the back.
I've had friends tell me stories like that too. They told me that at conventions, they always see a ton of people with bodypillows, and not only the ones they bought there. I mean, okay, it's a convention and I guess it's a little more ... "appropriate?" there, but I'll never understand how people openly admit to this level of simping in a public space.

I think a video I randomly came across “Why people like anime girls” or something like that explained the reasons why this would happen perfectly, still kinda weird even if I do have too many crushes from anime (although I am 16 so not as weird as a 26 year old plus it’s not limited to anime, and really that’s just being a teenager). Also by god I can kinda understand Megumin IF you’re going by the light novel (I believe she’s 19 currently) but shit like the existence of Shoujo Ramune make me really scared for the human species and people who actually get body pillows or anything similar of underage characters need a therapist. I used to think anime as a whole was weird because of people like this, thankfully I came to my senses and didn’t determine if something is weird by the community but that was primarily because most of my friends watch it and are nice people
It is going to get worse in the next generation, and we already seeing it happen. Sexual Obsession with a fictional character, man or women or even worse, boy or girl, will fuck up someone's mind. I mean it's okay as a joke or temperary but if it's your personality, then it will degrade your mindset until you become a terrible human being.

I can kinda understand this thought process: Being obsessed with a regular anime girl is weird/unhealthy because they're not real, but at least they look legal for the most part. Being attracted to characters that are/look like kids is creepy and gross, even if it isn't real, for obvious reasons. One is just unhealthy and cringey, while the other most would feel uneasy about being allowed around real children.

Oh lord, this just reminds me of that one crazy fangirl in the Final Fantasy 7 fandom way back in the day who was so freakishly attracted to Sephiroth that she legitimately thought he was real and was married to her after she somehow managed to meet him via astral projection. And don't even let get me started on the absolutely god awful self-insert FF7 fanfics she wrote about him and her. I've never read them myself, but one of my friends was unfortunate enough to have done just that.
