Phenomenal! I remember coming up with this deck when I was 12 and thinking I was brilliant because no one at my local said ever played it, guess I was right! 2007 is probably one of my favorite format of all time you are by far the best on any platform at profiling is decks keep up the hard work we really appreciate it!
The format-description-by-comparison at 26:00 sounds like making this video in particular was a nice catharsis-inducing break from Master Duel/modern. (EDIT for future-comment-readers: this correction was wrong because this isn't the format in question, but I'll leave it as-is since Joe countercorrected:) I do think you should've stuck to Smashing Ground in the profile - GLAS was a November 2007 set, so Soul Taker is an anachronism for a deck under the March 2007 F/L list (usually this format's card pool is taken as the (US) Nats card pool i.e. post-FOTB, post-Baboon, pre-TAEV, and to add extra pedantry we can call it the "June 2007 update to the F/L list" that limited Magical Stone Excavation).
I will never forget this feature match gem: Jones got things started with E - Emergency Call for Stratos, summoned him, and used him to pull Elemental Hero Ocean from his deck! Soul Taker knocked away Flores’ Stratos, Flores gained 1000 life points, and Stratos swung for 1800! Jones set two cards to his back row and ended. “How’d you get those!?” Flores balked at Jones’s Soul Taker.
@@YGOHistory that is totally fair that you're zeroing in on D-Raida format, in which case I think the "mistake" becomes just the F/L text callout at the beginning of the video (i.e. the bottom of the screen during your intro, not the text on the title slide); I totally spaced. Nats '07 is probably my favorite format ever so that's why I tunnel-visioned (I also watched this at like 1am local time, haha). Thanks for the feature match gem too!
I remember my very first ever locals playing mermails I can't remember the year but my match ups were absolutely abysmal like I played against nothing but macro rabbit and macro monarchs it was absolutely horrible
I personally think the Hugo Adame version of Macro, which you briefly mentioned, was better than the Macro Monarch, although I like both. I played Adame's deck back in the day and the Gravekeeper's Servant combined with Bribes and Solemns was an unstoppable combo.
I would honestly just play Upstart over Gold Sarc and Scoutplane. Without a crazy blowout card like Crush Card Gold Sarc is only so-so and I'm not a fan of Scoutplane and its downsides. And I do agree with your point on transition siding. Just because you're now playing D-Heroes or something doesn't mean the opponents Dust/Mobius is now dead.
Those ulti dd survivors look so clean

Disaster Dragon would be awesome too!
Great video! I've always loved this era of anti meta macro!

This deck would have been legal during the D-Raida format. The first SJC of that format was December 2007.

Cyber Valley was huge in Macro as well iirc
Cyber valley mind control then you banish opponents monster and draw 2 cards

You haven’t done a retro yugioh battle in a while will you be uploading any soon?
Where do you get all of your foreign cards?
I’ve just been collecting forever - so through my travels.
i don't think soul taker was legal during march 2007. glas didn't come out until later 2007/early 2008 iirc
I made the same mistake in my top-level comment. The "March 2007" text was a mistake, this is covering the September 2007 banlist (but before DAD)
@@jonathanmerklin oh I didn't see that. thanks for the heads up
@@kittycat2983 Yup. I made a mistake. My bad!
@@YGOHistory you're good homie
