What we can learn from the Ukraine war about current empire(s).

Why does Boris Berezovsky deserve infamy?

Outlook for Ukraine and maybe, more interestingly, Poland, as US interest in the war wanes. - Развлечения
meni jedan od boljih političkih komentatora danas. tako to ide: tražiš nekoga tko se ne boji pokazati kako stvari stoje, a Soldo zaista ima uvid i šire znanje.
This was fascinating. One of your most provocative and interesting guests.
Welcome back AK! This is shaping up to be a great interview. Hope you and the family are well.
Turbo America for the win. Full speed ahead into the flaming sun of destiny!
Thoroughly absorbing show. I've friends and acquaintances from whom I've learned a great deal that happen to be from your region (Constanta and Bucharest), and Plovdiv in Bulgaria. You've echoed much of what they've said to me. The part about the turds rising and adaptability is definitely something that has come up in conversation with regards to Romania. My Bulgarian friend (ethnic Turk) did very well following the collapse of Communism and I'm sure might be described in some quarters as a mini-turd if you get my drift.
With regards to the US, whilst I'm certain its power will wane overseas due to economic reasons : hyper financialisation, de-dollarisation, BRICS and the cost of military over reach without any returns to speak of - I truly lament that the woke aspect and the low brow elements of empire will most likely linger for much longer. And, as an Englishman who is old enough to witness the gradual corporate/managerial Americanisation of my country, it really does burn deeply.
Great stuff and thanks for introducing us to your guest.
It was Romanian elites who elected a German noble for the Romanian throne, it had nothing to do with lack of local candidates. The problem they were trying to solve is making the Union of Wallachia and Moldova permanent, since the Great Powers, after being taken completely by surprise when the Danubian Principalities elected the same man for both thrones, only agreed for the Union to last until the end Cuza's reign.
For the record, Berezovsky and Hadarkovsky are not Jewish according to Jewish law (both have non-Jewish mothers). Out of the seven oligarchs, only two are confirmed Jews - Fridman and Gusinsky.
Most Canadian sounding person imaginable. Am shook.
check out Ryan Long 😂🍁
I’m thinking Montreal specifically. It’s rly giving Italo-Montrealer on the ending T’s - “thaT.”
No sorry that’s fully a Balkan accent and cadence
Interesting
The real blackpill for me as a Hungarian about the entire Ukranian debacle was that our Zelensky was Kossuth back in the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. That time Britain played the role that the US is playing now. We also had another smaller scale Ukraine moment in 1956, needless to say that didn't end well either.
Nick OWNS you
Thanks, mulțumesc however you are incorrect the reason why they brought in a Hohenzollern is because they could not decide who would be a future monarch there was TOO MUCH elite, Cuza was a much more effective rulerGhika as well than the first part of Carol s reign
They actually had difficulty finding one btw it wasn't colonialism as you claim the local noble class retained their power the only new arrivals were the you know who,✡️✡️✡️"based" german legacy, well thet were here during the ottoman but not that powerful
"Goon Cave" - I'll remember that one.
I disagree re: china at 15:00. They have no capacity to generate culture for _export_, but they do generate culture for themselves, which is important for keeping american culture out.
They don't make genre-defining games but they can take a concept and refine it and especially extend.
So I'd not be surprised if at some point at least re: gaming they make a big hit.
Is that picture really Nic?!
No that's my Uncle Scooter
This guy may know about Russian oligarchs but he doesn’t know Eastern Orthodox. Remarriage is permitted in all jurisdictions up to a point, but it is discouraged.
A fellow Croat, so some kind words in the native lingo. There are times when one is fed up with the constant blare of (Amer'cuhn) English.
Compliments: Niccolo expresses his ideas with great clarity.
Then don't speak English.
@@noco7243 Which English? Stupid americanised internese?
Talibans are shocked
Not that I’m pleased with it but it’s always fun to remind a Reddit brained European that they’ve been a us colony since 1945-6.
Pentru ca e populatie romaneasca acolo.
Interesting parallels between the AIDs and Covid freak-outs.
My family European vacation in 2019 was incredibly eye opening. Germany seemed more like an American colony than its own country.. And the people seemed to like it that way. They cared more about what was happening in the US than in their own country. Someone should try to make Germany great again.
MGGA.. whoa dude nice
Based
Correction: all the Orthodox churches allow up to 3 marriages, not just the Rumanians.
This guy looks too weird to _center_
US "centers of power" would not be the centers of power they are without their hinterlands. The hinterlands literally feed the centers of power and also supply a disproportionate number of their soldiers, sailors, and airmen. Furthermore, the families of the political and cultural elite no longer want to serve in the military, and their "woke" policies are alienating the very men who traditionally formed the backbone of the armed forces, so that the quality of both the enlisted men and officers is declining. The European derived population is also being rapidly replaced by immigrants for whom being an American does not mean, and will never mean, what it meant to the white population when it was the overwhelming majority of the country. And even the white population, especially among the younger generations, is wondering what does it even mean to be an American now. This has been the inevitable and foreseeable result of promoting "diversity." Patriotism withers without a cohesive ethnic core.
And that decaying infrastructure? I assure you, it's not just Ohio! It is the rule, not the exception.
Now I am quite aware that the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side of the fence. Other countries have problems too, I concede that. But if you are going to bestride the earth like a colossus, relative advantage is not sufficient. There is a certain minimum threshold of power, competence, and social cohesion that must be met to dominate the world. A 10 year old might be much stronger than a 5 year old, but neither one is going to clean and jerk a hundred pound barbell.
I really don't understand why Europe and to some extent Latin America are so eager to imitate the worst aspects of US cultural trends, or why their leadership does not nip this trend in the bud. But the current era is not the beginning of a new age but a historical blip. I say with absolute confidence that, a century hence, we will not even have power grids anymore, much less the internet or social media. Our comfortable way of life depends on immense amounts of concentrated energy which can be obtained ONLY from fossil fuels (with an incremental boost from uranium235), and we are drawing those resources down rapidly. People who pin their hopes on renewable energy or fusion/thorium/fast breeders are deluding themselves. The former are laughably inadequate, and the latter have been running into a wall of failure for 65 years. In less than a hundred years, our successors will be living in a totally different world. It will be an energy poor world with much smaller, much less intelligent (with genotypic intelligence falling a point or more per decade, mostly because more educated women have children at later ages than less educated women), and much less innovative populations. No one state will be able to dominate the world either militarily or culturally. Influence will be regional or local. By all means enjoy the techno - utopia while we have it, but don't expect it to become an enduring feature of the human experience.
It will be a very long time before another truly great civilization appears on the world stage. For now, everything is moving in the wrong direction. Realistically, we should expect another dark age with a very deep bottom when we finally get to the nadir.
Isn't the very fact that the US is doing all these stupid ideological things, rather than just pragmatic foreign policy, and is still as powerful as it is just another example of how truly dominant it is or can be? Lol
Ukraine War:
biggest winner, Russia.
small winners: China, Iran, Syria
biggest loser: Ukraine, obviously, both absolutely and relatively
second biggest absolute loser: EU+UK
second biggest relative loser: USA
I think the US did ok. After all, Sweden and Finland joined NATO, and US had excuse to blow up the oil-pipe, a project they had strongly resisted and one of the few good things Merkel did for Germany. As a result of the sabotage, Germany is no longer getting cheap Russian gas => a) buying LPG from US at high cost and b) German companies moving some production to US.
I would have liked for Alex to ask him for his rationale on this point.
I agree with you that Russia is the big winner, and Ukraine the big loser.
This is cope.
cope, stop watching macgregor and ritter, your brain will rot.
Lol in a proper world we’d be speaking German??
