#11 - I Paid $375 For A Tiny House... Kind of...

- After 15 years in construction the idea that I would pay someone $20,000-$50,000 so I can say I live in a "tiny house" is beyond me. Why would I spend that kind of money when I can spend $375 and have the same square footage but have a B.U.R.T. See for yourself!

Great find. I lived in a forty foot fifth wheel for eight years until we found Pine Meadows Hobby Farm.
I hope it doesn't come to that but we are not afraid of the idea.
Pine Meadows Hobby Farm A Modern Homestead i
I agree
That was fun to watch...esp. your tree cutting and fire. Have a great time with your new home!
Thank you!
Great find
Wow that's awesome where do I get one
Wow, that looks like the Komfort i have.
Awesome.
Your welcome.
Well people actually use tiny houses because they are new construction and have exactly what people need and want.
There is definitely a market for them. There is such a market that I think I may build one and sell it!
And sell it for $100k because people are stupid enough to spend money on 1/8 of a house. Heck for $3500 you can buy a 12' x 24' Tuff Shed from Home Depot and just finish the inside of it. Contractors charge ridiculous amounts of money to build those tiny houses because people are dumb enough to pay it.
Now if you built it yourself sure it would be worth it, but many people are having them built so the price skyrockets and in the end you only have part of a house.
Tiny houses use to be affordable, now they cost as much as a large home. I have an older camper I'm going to use for a Tiny house, plan to build a roof over it and also use pallet wood to reside the outside.
Save money and time build a roof over the whole thing and a deck, much cheaper
I think I'm going to have to...
Not a bad deal man.
big fires, woods, campers and trucks.....ahhhh America!
what a good score... hope you get lots of use out of it.
to be honest im thinking about traveling my self the hell with everything else load the dogs kids and the wife and travel to all 50 states find a spot i like and make do and than stay for the long haul because u cant get any better than living free and not having a house payment taxes internet or any of that extra bullshit that well i dont need save money enjoy life and see all the places u ever want to go or travel or go
God is Good; thanks for sharing!!!
Subbed. Looking forward to seeing what your plans are. Great deal on the RV. I am also shocked at what people pay for tiny homes.
@All Good
I offered him what I thought it was worth. Nobody else was offering
cash because it needed work. I then agreed to do another couple hundred in plumbing work. He
was happy. I was happy. Thanks for being the Karma police. I will let
you know when I "loose alot more in the future".

Red Poppy Ranch that's a nice one!
Red Poppy Ranch, how did you find this little pocket of humans that are barely able to speak or spell?? 😨😨😨
You sound like you've got a great plan 😊👍 well done.
Red Poppy Ranch You Are Blessed And HappY, And He Is Blessed And HappY!...No worries, Good For Both Of You.

Lucky you!! This is amazing! i am so happy for you. It was meant to be yours! Do something AMAZING!
And that camper is designed/much easier to move than a tiny home. I live in a permanent tiny home, that isn't designed to move. 275 sq ft for a little over a grand. But, sadly, unless you don't live in a city ordinance like me- something like mine- the city would shat a cow of a child if they knew it was a permanent residence. Granted, thats why i'd never live in a city ordinance. But! Options for everyone!
can goods freeze when there's no heat please stock up on Dry Goods dehydrated stuff long-term storage food
Build a pole barn that eventually can be enclosed to be your shop. But for now it can shelter your camper and some equipment. If you build it yourself it may not cost much more than repairing the roof would and you will never worry about leaks again.👍
Really enjoying your channel so far. Thanks for sharing this journey with us.
Even on the off chance it lasts 3 years you got one heck of a deal.
I hope I can get it to last longer. It's plenty big enough for us.
did you find mold where that water leak was? ?I want to sell my house and get an RV, my son thinks I'm crazy, but I live alone.
There really wasn't any mold but I usually treat any questionable mold areas with a 10% bleach to water mix then spray it on. I love the idea of you downsizing. If I was alone I would live in my RV. I have 5 kids and I still may end up in my RV. I really want to get our house moving and living in our RV up there would definitely expedite the building of our house. I don't think my wife is ready tod od that but I want to be full time ASAP.
Good find.I'm living in a 26' travel trailer with one slide-out. It didn't occur to m to look at the roof. The guy said he didn't have any leak problems. Well, after the first big rain the roof was leaking in several places. Someone came and patched it up after finding huge rips along the edges of the roof and slide-out. I just have to get the a/c caulked up there now cuz that also leaks inside. I have videos of where the holes were.Anyway, there was mold growing in the bathroom ceiling and I'll have to get that fixed. Also have leaks under the sink and water heater and it ruined the under side of the tile in bathroom. Didn't know it was leaking for months.I removed the couch and dinette to create more room. Now that it's paid off, I can make repairs. I will eventually have someone insulate the walls, take out the oven (it's not even hooked up), change to a composting toilet, etc. Little by little I'll have it converted for off grid use. : )
Very smart move..I have said the same.. Why spend so much on a custom tiny pull type house .... 20 and 30 thousands.. A lot of money.
My dad would live in a small RV during the summer just to get away from all the crap in the big city. In winter, he had to move back to the city - couldn't get to the RV due to heavy snow. Did that for many years. I know several people who do that now, some are full time RVers. But I do agree that RVs aren't build for permanent living. They're built cheap (profit motivated), light (so they can be towed). We had a pop-up camper. Everything was stapled together without a drop of adhesive anywhere. What few screws there were, they were aluminum and broke easily. They're made to set up once a year for about a week or two, then taken down and stored until next year. I'd never own a pop-up ever again. RVs are constructed much the same way for the same reasons.
I agree. They are not intended to handle heavy snow loads over and over and over. We will use ours fora time until our house is finished.
I agree. That is why I bought a cargo trailer and converted it. These steel beams will handle a snow load very well. Also, they are much cheaper in price.
awesome find and great deal!!
You ever want to add wood heat look into Cubic wood stoves, great option for a rv like yours.
The RV 5th wheel has a lot of
wonderful potential.
Don't turn your wife's joy into
sour grapes just because you don't
Like something.
Oh and burning brush in a wooded area without a burning barrel not si good you may get a visit from smokey the Bear with tips on burning brush and trees in the woods.
OMG. I sure would love to find one at that price in Las Vegas
great find! great story! Thanks for sharing....oh, p.s. if the notes you typed on the bottom of the video would be of interest to others too, you may want to change the COLOR of the Type to one that will be bold enough to stand out against the videos background lighting.. maybe RED? And or a Bolder Type would help. Good luck to you & your wife with all your future plans!!
Agreed. Love your sharing the video - but the white type is faded and difficult to read.
I suggest building a shed over the camper. I had an '81 model and after that long, the roof will become an issue. With a shed, it'll last as long as you want it to. When you are through with it, you still have a nice pole barn/shed for equipment.
I had the same thought. We get lots of snow where I'm at so may need to do something significant like that.
A true tiny house is of much better construction. Campers are built light, weak, and cheap.
I agree but they are also much heavier
Not to mention MANY times more exspensive...
Mark De Mers ....really? I have a very similar camper and live in it year round. In northern NY. Cold winters and I'm fine....
U wont find a tiny house for 400 bucks eather!!!
I agree with you on the tiny home fad.
Looks worth more than 340. Poor guy must have really needed the money.
I think you got a great deal. Don't let the negative talk fool you. Haters. Wish I could find a deal like that. Congrats on your find. And your land is awesome.
Thank you!
I just picked up a 31 footer in better condition than this for 350. rather than live in it tho im gutting it for a chicken coop
Hey this amazing & you never know this may be a permanent fixture on the land for away.. A great get away for the kids when there out there
amazing God bless you and good luck.
What an amazing property!! We are in a similar spot, where we are going to Fulltime for the winter, then tinyhouse or live in the RV on our plot. Best of luck in all your ventures.
Best of luck to you! Get an RV...
When I saw the burning brush piles it took me back to my youth and my first thought was: Weeny Rooast!!!
Are you putting in a septic tank? Sounds like you have made some great deals!
yes but not for the 5th wheel. We will do a septic tank with our house
We've thought about it. If my land perks ok I will likely put in a septic system but we will see. I have to get the perk test in order to get the building permit. My neighbors property would not perk so I may have to do something else. I do intend on doing something useful with grey water regardless.
You let those things sit and the mice and rats will infest it till it’s chewed up to nothing.
In no time...
I wish I was so blessed to find something like this wishing you the best of luck brother,God bless
gotta love an open space ready to build it up the way you want. bunks in the back for the kiddos and master suite in the front for mom and dad. Will work good until you have the house built, or maybe you do now since this video is older. great deal.
BURT......love it
Thief, Baggins!!! LOL.
man, I'm paying 1800.00 for a piece of junk compared to yours. Roof is damaged. The awning because of snow load pulled the wall away from the roof. The whole wall leaks...
Build a Wooden Roof, OVER it.....that way you will still have Airflow and it will last a Long Time after you Repair the Roof..
I think I may have to do this. We will likely always have some sort of a travel trailer so the roof will get used. Thanks
Cool deal! I love the crackling sound of burning wood. And that was some kinda huge fire too. Thanks for sharing. Wishing you and your family the best.
looking forward to seeing it when you've worked on it some , good buying .
u want to sell?
6:34 ha,ha...sounds like my husband. Good score :)
Not sure where you are. In NH it could be hard to keep warm in an RV. If you don't build the workshop right away, you could add a room on sauna tubes, off the camper door, with a wood stove. We built a 20x30 workshop on an Alaskan slab, with a 4 foot knee wall, so that made for a roomy upstairs. Used board & baton with a metal roof. Had a kitchen wood stove and a Canadian Magee propane kitchen range that had a side ( thermostat ) parlor heater. The arrangement worked sweet! Magee thermostat was set at 60 degrees. Heated the place nicely. Had a pilot light propane unit, that could be hand lit. Good luck! You are doing great! P.S.-- A used screen house might keep you sane.
All a tiny house is, is basically a custom built camper. A lot of people have no place to park their campers and have to pay monthly storage so they will part with them cheap if they are older campers. You could just build a sheet metal car porch to park it under then you wouldn't have to worry about the roof at all.
we got one not fifth wheel for $500, we have alot more work but not to bad, needs new door, ac works when it wants, and we have to fix the roof. but its fairly good.
Keep it - they make great guest houses.
don't walk on roof my husband works at trailer sales it was good buy
thanks!
watch out for black mold ,if it has it ,you might as well scrap it.It gets in the walls,no way to eliminate it unless you rip it apart and rebuild it.By then you might as well get something better.
You could have put a simple tap in that maple tree and had fresh, natural and organic maple syrup.
Thats the plan.

No inside tour??
If you're not planing one moving it for an extended period of time. be sure to get the weight off the tires and deflate them, this will extend their lifespan and prevent dry rot.
These are noted for roof leaks and the water running down the Walls and causing a lot of mold and wood rot.
Very smart!
Most people don't know NEVER put a tarp on a camper it creates mold really bad even if u don't see it. It's there in the walls . The mold will cause breathing problems and all kinds of different things beware of mold in trailers
But, if this thing makes you happy, then knock yourself out and have a great time fixing it up.
I stumbled acrossed your RUclips channel and I will be checking out your videos, so far I like what I see.
Thanks!
What a blessing.

The sound of the burning brush is so relaxing...looks like you have some nice land there. I am so jealous!!! I love tiny houses too!
Very nice
I think that was a very pretty fire...Would make a great picture for framed art.......
We found a 25’ Prowler. 1976. Almost new condition. Just put new tires on and go. We lived in it all summer while we renovated our house. I’ll never let it go. The old woman must have polished it every day. You have some very nice property.
Lived in one nearly identical to that for 18 months. Only difference was our kitchen was on the end and living space in the center. That experience convinced us to build THOW. Ok for 2 ppl but we still have 2 kids at home and we were always repairing things.
Stump remover - 55gal drum with open top turned down. Add chimney pipe to closed bottom (now top) and cuttings feed. Place over stump and start a fire. Takes a while but as long at the chimney keeps pulling the wood in the stump burns. looks like you have lots of small stuff to burn.
Nice
I find these types of sales all the time I'm looking for a 38 ft bumper camper to tear down and build a tiny home on it
.......what a great deal my friend.....I am happy for you...Your wife has a good idea about being able to have a place to go and have can goods on hand...I have been enjoying your videos and I thank you for your time to put them up on the internet.... GOD'S JOY from the Northern Mountains of Lovely GEORGIA ..
Thanks for watching! I bet your place is beautiful
Red Poppy Ranch h
coach camper trailers.. lucky. price.
😎thing to due.camp out.
great deal
Been living in my 1973 30ft Holiday Rambler for 5yrs now. Only thing I had to do to it was put a Tarp over the roof (19x28 folded in half). Picked it up for $1,800 and a set of new tires for $700. Put a 12x12 Covered and Screened in Porch on it and collect Rain Water for Bathing/Washing Dishes and Dog water. A 45w Harbor Freight Solar Kit for Lights. Grid power for Heating/AC/Cooking/Computer Use. $65 for Heating and Cooling. $35 for Spring and Fall.
Only thing I don't like about a 5th Wheel Style Campers is that, I am 6'3" and can not stand in the Master Bedrooms.
I'm 6'5"... nothing fits...
I would put a roof over the camper, later you can use the roof as carport, enclose for storage or even a guest house. Once there is a leak you can never get it stopped, will dollar you to death. The leak can be all the way on the other end and run down the inside walls. You made a a good deal, I am sure the gentleman felt good about doing the deal with you.. Most people are good people, you never know. Pay it forward, it will come back 10 fold. Never take advantage, I had someone do that to me. I was helping them and they took advantage, pulled the RV out of my yard and never completed the work they promised to do for this old woman. Everyone said I should have reported them to elder abuse, but you know it will come back home to them someday. Blessings.
Thank you for the advice. I agree completely.
Seriously! I always say that... why build a whole new tiny house when you can just get a trailer?! It's the same thing pretty much...
Great deal
Thanks Mark
your new truck matches the house perfect. Great buy..........and you can fix her up to sustain your immediate needs.
I've already started on it!
If i had one complaint.please stop writing on the screen its white the background is white and I'm not a speed reader so please stop just say it ok. Ty
This is not really good. The reason we didn't go to the trailers or motor homes there are so many problems with all the cancerous materials that are in the motor homes and fifth wheels or trailers.
I kind of feel the same way. I keep thinking I should sell it and build a small cabin in the mean time
sweet!
you can put charcod in a stump it will take care of the stump
Just discovered your channel when I noticed your 5th wheel in the sidebar. It looks a lot like our travel trailer, so it caught my eye. We bought ours used as well, although we paid quite a bit more. We've repaired and replaced things as needed, and we take it out at least once a month. We're nearing retirement age and, who knows, we may end up living in it. Or, we may live in it while we build a sticks and bricks house, as you're doing. I'm subbing, so I can learn from you.
Thank you for your support. We hope to start building soon but there are some preliminary stuff before. It's a ton of work but soooo fulfilling.
Great place for your kids to camp out in , on your property .
Good job I'm looking too with very little good for u guys
Best of luck with making the trailer liveable. Does it have any solar power on the roof?
No. I'm not sure if I will do much to it other than clean it up. We hope to start on our home soon and focus our energy there.
thats not a tiny house.... its a camp trailer.... you got robbed!
Wow it sounds like you have severe respiratory problems like COPD?
No... My lungs are good.
That's a dam good deal I live in one and paid 2500 for mine I love mine its a 5th wheel also
Omgoodness, YOU made out like a bandit!!!! Congratulations
I'm sure the kids will LOVE it!!!!
I honestly think the gun is worth just about what I had in the 5th wheel.
good deal...
Didn't see a fifthwheel camper,just a brush fire
This is not a Tiny House. It's an RV. There is a difference.
writing o 5th.wheel impossible to read...shame
Thanks again for the great video ... 👍
look forward to seeing what you can do with the rv and how it all pans out nice score on the $340 amd I find it awesome you were able.to barter some work for it
Thank you!
I wish I could get something like that to live in
Are you going to leave a fire unattended?
Yea...that seemed not very wise
Wow what a buy. Think of the vacation you could have.
