Hello from Colombia. Your story over the years is beautiful. I don't know much about boats, but my boyfriend who is from America has shown me several videos of your journey and I was really amazed. Post: Your bit is the boat of the dreams of my dukce boyfriend.Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences
I have circumnavigated snd been to all of these spots in the video- however to do it again in a vessel like this has forced me to start buying lottery tickets once more/ what an incredible creation built on experience!
I think I'm starting to understand the idea behind the design. Long narrow bow that pierces the waves, rather than rising over them. An extended stern tail to assist in getting speed from a following sea safely. Mind you I'm glossing over the years of details and effort in that description. Exposed aluminum everywhere, lack of maintenance. You're sailing who needs that grief? The lack of excessive cabin space compared to length, so as to keep the center of gravity low, unlike most motor yachts that stuff cabin space everywhere possible, so you end up with a wallowing cow. Simple clean living space, high tech, high quality, yet not distracting from the view outside. After all that's why you're there. Every possible piece and part done to make extended cruising safe and comfortable. Am I close? I must say this boat is my favorite yacht of yours, mostly because of the enclosed matrix deck. I think that adds majorly to it's looks and livability. Confession time, I'm an avowed landlubber who takes showers because tubs have deep water. My sole time on the ocean has been on the ferry to Vancouver Island. Please excuse the lack of proper terminology. What you have done interest me. Thank you for the videos. Doug

Agree. Looks like a navy ship on the interior. The longer the hull on a displacement ship the faster the theoretical speed. That's why the CVN aircraft carriers are so fast.
The hull form is offshore supply/crew vessel, there are similar designs in Netherlands yes the vessel is very speedy that’s way none interior elements..
Howdy Nuts: You are very close. The distribution of interior volume is based on the following: 1-Keeping living areas as close to the motion center as possible for comfort and better rest at sea. 2-Systems within the engine room and elsewhere installed in such a manner that they are easily accessible for inspection and maintenance. 3-Room for supplies, and loose equipment so that it can be stored in an orderly, easily retrieved manner. Regarding the waterline length, this is a benefit in terms of reduced drag, and allows shaping the hull so that it is more easily steered compared to a shorter, fatter waterline design.
This is the best boat yacht I have ever seen. Exactly confortable the way it should be. Thanks to have taken the time to build it and please build more of the same I want to buy one
I greatly appreciate your video. My dear uncle Vic, who passed two years ago was a cruiser. I am a just a day sailor who never quite understood his passion for voyaging for, literally, years at a time. Your insight into the details has made his passion clearer. Thank you.

I doubt it. The internet has given the world the ability to see how the other half lives. Before the internet there was ignorance, now we see how unequal the world really is.
I don't think of this wasteful, environmentally disastrous lifestyle as at all "fortunate." For a couple who claim to love the sea yet still spend a tankage budget of "4700 usable gallons of diesel fuel" in order to prove that their latest design can go to windward (all while making a sales video - let's call this what it is), is the height of hypocrisy. The Dashews are just another profligate luxury brand, nothing less, and certainly nothing more. Let's call them the Kardashians of the sea. This video's "yacht" has long been supplanted. They're currently selling 97 footers.....motorboats that even more than this look like military patrol vessels. The Dashews call it a "battle-worthy look."
@Eric Fermin instead of being jealous why don't you go make your own fortune. Steve and his Dad both made their money through inventing. Stanley came up with a bunch of patents in various industries. Steve came up with several in the concrete construction industry then turned his hand to yacht design. Both earned their money.
I just found your channel and thoroughly enjoyed the voyage. Out of all the circumnavigation I watch from other cruisers, this truly has been my favorite. May God bless you.
Beautifully filmed by an extraordinary couple, their design language, and the exceptional yachts that their design philosophy has brought about. Thank you for posting this! Cheers from New York!

You guys are the few people in the world that have something like this small yacht that you can live aboard go from long distances. I just described hoping to see more new videos thank you for sharing.⚓⛵👍
Amazing machine, I'm impressed. To me it takes all the fun and challenge out of traveling by boat though, that thing is prettier inside and roomier than my house. 😂
Trying to catch some sleep off shift with a bluff bow wave smacking shuddering the whole boat (you never know if its going to be a hard or soft landing on each fall) brings back memories of wishing the bow shape was different.
This is just awesome I'm 30 now and my dream is to buy a sailing boat rather than a house in the next 10years nothing seems more freeing than sails on your 'house' and following the wind. Wish I I could design/build my own, but I think with my lack of knowledge a lightly damaged hurricane boat and doing the repairs myself is the best option.
Our suggestion is to go early rather than waiting until you have saved sufficiently for a larger fancier yacht. The older you get the more tied down you become, the harder it is to truly break free.
Nice. Always planned on buying a Dashew design yacht. The design features always put practicality above ego. Unless my Tesla investments go hyperbolic I'm not going to realize the dream. Would be happy to help anyone wanting an experienced Mariner to do a passage like this, now that I have no compelling commitments. Returning to New Zealand late January 2022 to sort of retire.
This is a ridiculous statement, but if win the lottery, this is what I'd buy. Of all the boats I've seen, these are my favorites. I like the Bering boats a lot, as well as some other real explorer boats, but these are just on a different level. So, win the lottery, go to nautical school, apprentice on a boat (I'm not a sailer) and buy one of these.... I think that's all I need to do. Need to start buying lottery tickets. Side note, the pictures they take are beautiful.
Have you ever calculated a difference of speed with sloped windows? What is the impact rating of the window strength? What is their thermal rating? How much weight did you save by not having a paint job? What kind of heating system is employed for common area's? Interesting idea of the large data screens. Beautiful stateroom almost don't miss windows. Right off the slip how much would a vessel like this run? Cheers and favorable seas.
You will find answers to most of your questions on SetSail.com. Re the increased drag of sloped windows, the reverse slope has so many advantages we happily pay the drag penalty. The great room windows are stronger than those required for hurricane in the most stringent areas of Florida. A paint job would take around 1000 pounds at a minimum. Heat is available from the engines underway, from a Webasto boiler, and from reverse cycle air conditioning (which is rarely used). There are at present no FPB 78s available. But check with Sue.Grant@Berthon.co.uk as she will know when a FPB becomes available.
Is Sarah, the singer your daughter? She has a beautiful voice. Seriously! I am sure you are very proud. Does music run in your family? The use of T.V.s as moniters is incredible, as is the amount and sizes of windows. This is a truly epic build. I am sure the change to motor sailing, from purely wind has been a nice change of pace. We can't keep running around 30 degree decks, pulling sail all our lives! Lol!! Thank you for posting such a pleasurable video.
Thanks for the comments Solo: Linda has a lovely voice, mine is more related to frogs. But then I did learn how to play three songs on the guitar a long time ago. So, Sarah;s musical talent does not come from my end of the gene pool.
Just a thought - As I really love the music, it would be nice if you could do a mix with sailing and music only. Love to walk through my lounge room (on land) and see sea.... sea see lol So relaxing........
Thats pretty cool not just the boat but the couple still doing what they love . they win the award for living the good life.
I am deeply touched by the story of the Dashews. It is a Love story of 2 people and their love of the sea. I would entrust my life with their boats.

Impressive numbers and layout
Amazing ship, thank you
This looks and sounds exactly like the travel presentations that made the rounds of community organizations in the 60s and 70s. Interesting.
than ks for the vid excellent design concept , waiting for the next long distance cruise you have in mind
I am inspired by your voyage.
Excellent video, thank you
What a beautiful yacht. Perfect really.
@@DashewOffshore Thanks for the information. Cheers!
Its hard to imagine the knowledge those two sailors have combined
Very interesting and informative well made video thank you.
@@DashewOffshore You got me! I love it.
Wishing you both many more NM ahead!
Just a thought - As I really love the music, it would be nice if you could do a mix with sailing and music only. Love to walk through my lounge room (on land) and see sea.... sea see lol
So relaxing........
