Haha I remember doing the scissor takedown after a jump kick. It took so long to recover that the computer would immediately throw you before you could even finish recovering from it. Good times that.
I recently got MAME running again playing MKII and I can very rarely pull off jump kick/scissor takedown combo on the computer but I can pull it off versus my brother and friends on command. But we all know the AI is a cheater. 😆
@@celestialdragonlord5004 If we're talking barebones MK3 (and I speak as a fan of MK2), because the arenas were less atmospheric compared to the first two games, the gameplay didn't feel quite right, the tone was a bit goofier, and a lot of the characters from the first two games that most of us fans care about were absent, especially Scorpion. A lot of the characters that were introduced didn't quite live up to the ones who came before.
MKII is my favourite of the series. As a sequel from the first it ticks all the boxes as it's a complete upgrade. As an arcade game in the golden era it's second only to Street Fighter 2 in revenue for good reason. I think U/MK3 is easier and more intuitive to play. In retrospect I am glad that U/MK3 is quite different but similar to MK2 because that's made them playable for a longer time. I have recently started playing the first 4 MK games regularly again with an arcade set up I have wanted to put together for years.

This is the arcade, that's why. Those home console versions didn't hold the same memory as the coin-op. Plus u prolly couldn't even beat the arcade since the difficulty would spike around the 3rd or 4th character. I know I couldn't! Don't let ur opponent be Kang, Mileena, Raiden or Jax. These are intentional damage I take to make some combos, but the guy who comment above described really well how the AI works in this game, playing using tool assistance help us to manipulate the AI and that's why we can do these intentional hits just to extend or create a new combo that generally are impossible to be did during a match. But even playing frame by frame you still see how cheated the AI of this game is, most of the time they are programate to punish whatever movement you are trying to do (a jump, a special move, even some kicks) they have answers for everything.

MK2 AI is broken even if you're recording by frame advance for videos like this, I don't know how but the npcs by many times predicts what you are going to do (like 1 frame prediction, 1 frame reaction) which is insane, finishing a game like Mortal Kombat 2 don't matter on what difficult you played is an amazing achievement having in mind how broken the game AI is.
