Trev, I have ridden this train many times. As a large majority of us English have. I'll be honest, to me it's a very depressing memory. Grey skies, grey buildings. Milton Keynes might be the most depressing and soulless place on Earth. It is basically a collection of identical roundabouts. I couldn't imagine anywhere with less character. But it's amazing to see your enthusiasm because I can see how foreign it is to you. I love that. ❤
@@TmarTn2not to confuse to much but you can also get double yellow lights, they mean that then next one is a single yellow therefore the one after that is red 👍
It's when your at one of those stations here in the UK and the speaker goes "The next train is a non stopping service" as a behemoth rips a tornado of wind right past your face 🤣
Just a top tip, you can use A and D on your keyboard as a throttle and break. W and S as your reverser this means that you wont be needing to look down all the time at the controls .You can cancel all your alarms at once by pressing Q and turn your AWS to alert you of signal changes by pressing ctrl + numpad enter. There is also ctrl + W which turns on your master key and Ctrl + s to take the key out. Horn is space bar for low tone and N for a high tone. L for cab lights and H for headlights. Y and U for doors Y being left U being right. Hope this helps.
All of this was covered in the tutorial! It's much more fun/immersive for me (and especially for the video) to actually press the buttons Appreciate you dude
@TmarTn2 I just find it easier to use the keyboard rather then the controls actually there especially at low speeds and places where there are quick speed changes
I'll tell you something, Trev, as an Englishman who has travelled on trains all his life, British trains generally do not run on time and are ridiculously expensive!
As someone who lives in Milton Keynes and regularly travels to London this is freaky, the route is so realistically mapped that i feel like I'm taking the trip watching this
Set off at night, turn on torrential rain, reduce visibility to zero and maintain line speed. Then you'll be a driver my friend. Also you used the emergency break to stop at a station, stopped short and released the doors whilst approaching a red at 50mph. 😂
Before my health condition struck I worked for avanti west coast well it was virgin trains then. I love trains so will have to get it. Got the other 4 train sims. Memories loved that job so many shifts from Euston to Manchester etc.
The train, the station and the interiors of the stations are so wildly accurate. My god. Hatsoff. They have also put the LNWR trains, oh my word, lol. I commute on these almost everyday.
If you’ll be staying in the UK for the whole series, I hope you end up on the North Wales line and stop in my hometown of Chester at some points 🤞. The line goes right along the coast with some amazing views IRL
I'm trying to figure out how we're going to do the series because it's not a super linear game; we'll probably bounce around a lot checking out/learning different trains and locations. Will keep an eye on North Wales!
I dont know if you know the game, but it isn't like the Microsoft Flight Simulator, it doesn't have every rail line in the world; it does instead release lines periodically, mainly in the UK, US and Western Europe, but they plan to release a line in Japan. Some of these lines are the WCML Euston - Milton Keynes, ECML Peterborough - Doncaster, BML Victoria - Brighton, Birmingham Cross City, Cathart Circle, Semmeringbahn, Kinzigtalbahn, Cajon Pass, San Bernadino Line, LGV Marseille - Avignon, ScotRail Express Edinburgh Waverly - Glasgow Central and many more -vand they plan to release WCML North, a dutch line and a line in Wales. As of now there isn't a Welsh line.
Surreal to hear Trev talking about places I've travelled to as a commuter so many times. Was hoping the train would continue north through Hertfordshire 🙂

Here are all the signs etc. that got slightly confused: 3:05 - TASS stands for Tilt Authorisation and Suspension System and essentially just ensures the train isn't going too fast for the tilt system to function properly 6:53 - Green = clear - at least next two blocks (space between signals) are clear, double yellow (idk if you saw this havent watched the full video yet) = preliminary caution - expect a red aspect in 2 blocks), yellow = caution - expect a red in the next block and red = danger - stop 8:52 - EPS = Enhanced Permitted Speed i.e. tilting trains i.e. Class 390 9:05 - This is a Banner Repeater - used when a signal has low sighting distance. Diagonal bar = proceed aspect, horizontal bar = danger 12:54 - pan = pantograph, which is the device that collects current from the overhead wires. That's as far as ive watched so far, will edit later
Train Sim World is one of those games, that if you actually want to see real changes, you buy a new one every 7 years. And you buy it pirated because DoveTail is doing everything in its power to sell you a game with 2 trains and 3 tracks, and then ask for over $1000 in DLC's to make the game complete.
Most definitely need to do a series with this one Trev. Loved all of your vids to date. This one is a most definite series for me. Thanks bud hope you have a good one
Actually being in the "off" position will make your locomotive speed up/slow down depending on the track gradient. It is not cruise control as you stated. The off position is simply "off" from all powered systems and pressurised air brake systems.
I got to try one of the simulators that the actual drivers use. You get a full cab, all the controls etc, with nearly continuous screens all around. It sounds crazy, but it terrifying, as it starts to feel real. There are lots of systems checking speed etc, but that also means lots of warning sounds and I felt very tense by the end!
Great video! Btw here's some help with the signals: Green: Proceed at the speed limit; Double yellow: Prepare for the next speed to be a Single Yellow. Slow down to 75 mph Single Yellow: The next signal is Red. Prepare to stop, slow down to 45mph, if you are below that, don't accelerate back to 45mph Red: Stop, don't proceed past the signal. In-game, you fail the scenario; In real life, pretty sure you get called to the office, or even fired. Also, you can use A and D to
Afternoon Trev, With the rail system lights there are several differences. A Green light means the next Four sections (Minimum) of track ahead is clear - Thats sections of track between signals. A double yellow signal means that there is an obstacle on the track three sections ahead of you (usually another train) single yellow means that an obstacle is on the track two sections ahead of you. Where as red which does mean stop incidicates the section of track ahead has an obstacle and it is unsafe to drive the train in that section. However this isnt all that the signal lights are used for, they also use signals for when you are due to move over to a different track, but Im not sure if they have implimented that into Train Sim yet.
