Shame on those people that thumbs down your videos! I've learned a great deal watching these. I love the solder into a ball. Brilliant I said in my fake English accent. TY so much!
Andrew people who give you the thumbs down 👎 are idiots and are not serious about learning how to make jewellery the right way . I love your RUclips channel and I have learned a lot from you 🤗
It is time for me to go to bed, and yet... Here I am watching a second video of yours. I will need to watch the next ones tomorrow. I have learned more in the 2 videos I watched than all the classes I have taken. I feel like I am getting one on one attention instead of sharing the teacher with 8 students. Just awesome! Watching from Utah, USA
Also have found that paint stirring sticks for wall paint make fine buff sticks. Also, for finer work, tongue depressors. Thanks for the suggestion about buff sticks.
Thank you Andrew, you helped me to make a very delicate solder and made me figure out that borax gives amazing results! I follow you from Belgium ;) Thanks for the bloopers :D
I've been really enjoying your channel, Andrew. After a 20 years hiatus from silversmithing and working as a web developer, I'm working on going back to my silversmithing for work. Your films have really helped me brush up and review the skills and techniques I used to use on a daily basis. Thank you!
Thanks Andrew. I too am returning to the workbench after an extended (say 20 + years)h iatus in the IT field. Like riding a bike mate, like riding a bike. Cheers!!
I could easily sit here and watch your videos, over and over. You are wonderful at teaching. I'm so stoked I found your chanel and will keep watching/learning!
i love the detail you give in your explanations. as a beginner i had to watch atleast 20 videos from other creators just to find out whats in the pickle solution lol. calling it pickle isnt helpful if we dont know how to make it. Ive watched about 5 of your videos today and will come back to them to complete this project when i have all my tools ready. Please keep making these videos. one of the most valuable youtube channels on the jewellery manufacturing topic. Thank you for telling me whats in the pickle. lol
WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE? No matter how much I practice and study (elsewhere), I always learn something from you Andrew (the avoiding solder while filing to save the metal quality - great!). What solder did you use for the jump ring? The base join didn't even get close to melting which suggests perhaps a large temp differential on the two solders. I love the jump ring getting sucked onto the bezel - COOL! My question: What are the cons of having a (tiny) bit of solder in the reuse of metal (what does it look like, do, etc.)? Who is that [thumbs down] person, and what IS their gripe? I'm guessing jealousy, grouchy, needs a hug...etc. if there is no ownership of the thumbs down. WASN'T ME!!!! :)))))
By far the best explanation, and demonstrations for beginner's, with so many simple tips. Great camera work, with good close-ups to see what's really going on, on the bench, and to follow along at home or in your own studio. I've never turned to RUclips for help, but now I'm following keenly for more tips of the trade. Thank you for your Chanel!
Hi Andrew. I really enjoy your teaching method. Easy to listen too and how you introduce the correct method as a suggestion or hint / tip. without offending the wrong method 👍
Thank you for sharing your skill and talent. I appreciate the "tempo" of your instructions, as well as the "what if's" and what "not to do". Great instruction!
THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge! Thanks to you I´m not not only an osteopath, I’m also a jewellery maker:) I want to learn NOW, so when I want to learn a new technique, I’ll just go to you or Melissa Muir or Soham Harrison.. You’re my heroes!!!
Great and informative video! Hoping you see this question: for someone just starting out, please share the list of tools and equipment you use to make the bezel. Or links where to purchase them. Thanks so much!
Fabulous video! Love the fact your blade broke (not because I’m being sarcastic) because it’s good to know it isn’t just me who brakes them so easy. Thanks Andrew. Would love to know if you will be doing classes when your able to?
I am not the person with the thumb down. :D Your videos are grate an I like, that you are sharing them with us. Keep it up, mach weiter so! Grüße aus Deutschland.
Thanks for making such great u tube tutorials....so many practical tips/techniques for getting the job done in the best way possible. You make it look easy , I know it isnt..but willing to try with your excellent instruction to help me.
No thumbs down by "that person"! 😉He/she must a salty hater lol.. I hope u thought u can see who the person is if its your channel? 🤔. Always a thumbs up from me Andrew! U are prob the one who inspired me the most to get started at this game!! And iove it!
Hi Andrew - Love your films but I work exclusively with Argentium Sterling instead of Regular Sterling, for many reasons including 'I hate fire-scale' and I love that the Argentium stays tarnish-free for a long time. Could you do some more videos showing how to do what you do, if you're working with Argentium Sterling because sometimes the rules are different? and there are very few videos on Argentium and tons of videos on regular sterling. Thanks.
Hey Andrew, you’re videos are super helpful. I just started soldering, and I’m having the toughest time soldering the bezel to the sheet metal. You make it look so easy, but I must be doing something wrong, I cannot get it to melt. I’ve cleaned the metals a bunch of times, used the flux, applied the heat correctly, but the chips are so stubborn and just won’t melt! Am I missing something?
Andrew, you have skills! I’ve been a long time subscriber, long time member of At The Bench, and a forever fan. Always a thumbs up! Where are your Vlogs?
Andrew, your presentations are the best. Ever sense I've discovered you on RUclips I'm following only you and your way of work. Thanks to you, I've found interesting hobby and really enjoy it. As an older person and on disability, I'm making most of my tools and purchasing only what I can't make my self. My question is about a crucible. What is the best material to make it from, or what are the ingredients in case I have to form one by my self. Again, I love your videos and can't wait for the next one. Thank you and Greetings from Canada - Henryk
Is it just for melting silver and stuff u need a crucible for? U can buy small silica ones on ebay or Amazon for under 5 dollars.. Or if its a big crucible for a furnace. You can purchase those for about $10 too,.. Andrew did a video a few films back about his electric furnace and he talksaloy about crucibles in that one. It might give u some ideas.. When i started i thought of ways to make one too untill someone shared a link with me about the silica dishes and thats what i use now. I hope i gave u some food for thought but im sure Andrew will give you far better advice than me when he reads your lovely comment.. Best of luck from Ireland 🍀
Why do you join the jump ring on the non-join side of the ring? It seems like you could complete 2 operations at once if you soldered the join of the ring onto the bezel. Thank you, Andrew. I looked for this question but didn't see it yet....
Great videos Andrew. I have a wide V shaped (almost a heart) Opal and would like to make a free form bezel. for it, Willyou please show us a free form bezel making tutorial? That would be awesome! Thanks.
Brilliant. I would really love to know the grades of solder you used Also I want to set /suspend a bezel with a backplate between two points Wondering soldering wise if it’s better to solder backplate to points first then add bezel or vice versa
I love seeing the Silver work, and hope to be able to afford it some day.... but for now I have to work in the lesser expensive... copper..... so I have been watching your videos like a mad woman, and wonder if using silver solder on copper makes a difference or if there is copper solder... I have not gone shopping as of yet, because I want to be sure of what solder I want to use before I get it, and what I have priced around here is a bit high.... I am also looking for what I should purchase for the long run, I cant purchase a little butane now.. over and over... if I could purchase one set up of propane that would last a year.. end result saving money... if that makes sense... but would that be smart idea working in my den.? Do you have a suggestion? I am not totally unfamiliar with silver smithing, but untrained, and have to teach myself.
Hi Andrew, are the black nylon brushes any good, as compared to the white nylon brushes? They don’t seem to have them here in Aus but they look soooo handy! Thanks for all the great videos :)
Giday Andrew, I'm sitting in Australia watching your channel for quite a while now and have tried to get those nylon brushes you talk about, but I can't seem to find them anywhere here (in OZZ). I did have a look at buying them from England but the postage well just say it far outweighed the cost of the brushes. Do you know of any supplier that supply those brushes to a company in Australia so it would be economical to buy some. Saying that I am wondering if there would be any difference in mounting a non geometric stone (ie a stone that isn't oval, square , rectangular or cylindrical in shape) in a bezel?
People have been using a tool at the near last step after setting the stone to cut away access metal from the bezel wire, it looks almost like a chisel, but I don't think it could be a chisel.... Would you happen to know what this tool is called jewelers are using now.?
I had never seen someone who could teach this subject like Andrew. He is the best tutor ever.
Second time watching your video. You are an absolute legend. Thanks very much. 😊❤❤❤❤❤
Shame on those people that thumbs down your videos!
I've learned a great deal watching these.
I love the solder into a ball. Brilliant I said in my fake English accent.

Floating the solder on the jump ring👍
Love all your videos but would love to see more videos on creating mounts of different shapes like baguette, triangle or square.
All thumbs up here in New York! I'm l learning the craft and you're videos are priceless. I'm now soldering with confidence.
Best advice and great bloopers 😁
You are an AWESOME INSTRUCTOR!!! I have learned sooooooooo much from you! Thank you AB!!!
Love the way you are able to convey the techniques. Excellent teacher. Thank you

Hi Andrew. I really enjoy your teaching method. Easy to listen too and how you introduce the correct method as a suggestion or hint / tip. without offending the wrong method 👍
Your content and tips are absolutely BRILLIANT. Thanks for the great content!
Thank you Andrew, great video.. am taking bezel settings and I need more information about it.❤
Also, thanks for the tip on the nylon bristle brush in your top 10 video. I will give that a try.
I ABSOLUTELY love this channel. I’m exited to start silversmithing.
I love these vids by this guy! Pure gold education.
Thank you for sharing your skill and talent. I appreciate the "tempo" of your instructions, as well as the "what if's" and what "not to do". Great instruction!
Outstanding teacher. Thank you for sharing.
Great project to practice a number of processes, expertly explained. Thanks Andrew.

Dont worry about the thumbs down, it all counts as "engagement" for youtube so its actually better than them not clicking on either.
Great video Andrew thank you.
Love the bloopers! Thumbs up here.

Great teacher, I am trying my first bezel very soon
Thank you so much سپاسگذارم
That is perfect!
Have you made a video about making a bezel setting without a backing plate, like around a lens?
It's called a spectacle setting, I've been hoping to find that for a long time... Great idea!
@@flyingcheff I've done a couple but find it difficult. I've wanted to see if someone else has a better method.
@@moretimethanmoney8611 Same here - here's hoping :)
This was so good I actually feel intimidated.. lol!! I learn so much from your videos! 👍👍😊
Thanks for making such great u tube tutorials....so many practical tips/techniques for getting the job done in the best way possible. You make it look easy , I know it isnt..but willing to try with your excellent instruction to help me.

this video was extremely helpful to me... thank you
Love the blooper reel.....
Why don’t you polish after you set the stone? Wouldn’t the bezel get too hard to set the stone after you clean/polish? Thank you love your videos!!
That's beautiful.
Great job!
Love the video as alway and the out takes are a great addition.
What is the pickle

Fantastic video! What grit buff stick do you recommend using?

As always, great video, great teacher! If you haven't subscribed...why? And that bell? Hit it!!!
Lovely,like your accent
Great videos Andrew. I have a wide V shaped (almost a heart) Opal and would like to make a free form bezel. for it, Willyou please show us a free form bezel making tutorial? That would be awesome! Thanks.
Thank you ♡ hope you're safe ♡¡
Brilliant. I would really love to know the grades of solder you used Also I want to set /suspend a bezel with a backplate between two points Wondering soldering wise if it’s better to solder backplate to points first then add bezel or vice versa
Are you using different kinds of solder (hard, medium, soft)?
What grain sandpaper are you using to buff? This is a video I needed to see. Thank you!
Always use 600 grit
Do you know where I can get a bezel just like this one? I need several deep ones like this that aren't junk. Thanks!
Would it be possible to file the joint of the jump ring in order to further hide the solder joint binding the jump ring to the pendant?
Mr. Berry, what is the name of your larger hand torch. I bought a Dremel one , really disappointed. Please respond. As always great technique
What kind of torch do you use please
Hi Andrew. I’m regards to clear stones like a pink tourmaline cabochon, do I need to put a white paper with the plate as a backing???

Now long do you pickle for? And what grit emery cloth? Thanks
