I grew up as number 5 of six boys. We damn sure worked our asses off cutting up logs for the winter. Had a tin roof that had so many holes every year I’d be up there with my pops and brothers helping bring tools and roofing nails and water from the time I was five years old till the day I left.
Splitting all that wood along with everything else that comes with living off the land was sure hard work, but I’m so thankful for it today at 36 years old.

Some folks will never get it.
The civil war didn't start over slavery in the beginning ,
Big industrialist in the north needed money to further plans , industry, railroads and such.
They didnt have it the south did and wouldn't give it to them so they took it
By invading the south using cause of slavery, then came the carpet baggers.
Don't get wrong I believe slavery was wrong .
When kid go to school they don't teach you everything , there a whole nother side they don't teach.
And yes every man, brother , and son that fought for the south were Americans too
I just wish people could sit and talk to one another like they use too.

, “If That Ain’t Country (I’ll Kiss Your Ass),” finds Coe uttering a racial slur on record for the first time, singing the line “Workin’ like a nigger for my room and board.” The song paints a picture of a Texas family that verges on caricature, with the narrator describing his tattooed father as “veteran proud” and deeming his oldest sister “a first-rate whore.” While comparatively tame next to the pair of underground X-rated albums he would record later, the song further alienated Coe from the country mainstream and kick-started accusations that he was a racist, a charge he always vehemently denied. In 2004 he remarked:
I am a songwriter, you know, and to me it has always bothered me that actors in the movies can say whatever they want to say, kill people, rape people and do things and no one ever accuses them personally of being that way. But when you write a song and then all of a sudden you are being accused of something. To me, songwriting is painting a picture and all you have to work with is words… I grew up with all my life hearing, “lazy as a Mexican,” “stingy as a Jew,” “working like a nigger,” or “dumb as a Polock.” It’s stereotype stuff that you hear growing up that immediately puts a picture in your head

The old man was covered with tattoos and scars
He got some in prison and others in bars
The rest he got working on old junk cars
    In the daytime
They looked like tombstones in our yard
And I never seen him when he wasn't tired and mean
He sold used parts to make ends meet
Covered with grease from his head to his feet
Cussing the sweat and the Texas heat
    And mosquitos
And the neighbors said we lived like hicks
But they brung their cars for pa to fix anyhow
He was veteran-proud, tried and true
He'd fought 'till his heart was black and blue
Didn't know how he'd made it through the hard times
He bought our house on the G.I. bill
But it wasn't worth all he had to kill to get it
He drank Pearl in a can and Jack Daniels black
Chewed tobacco from a mail pouch sack
Had an old dog that was trained to attack
    Sometimes
He'd get drunk and mean as a rattlesnake
    There wasn't too much
That he would take from a stranger
There were thirteen kids and a bunch of dogs
A house full of chickens and a yard full of hogs
I spent the summertime cutting up logs for the winter
Tryin' like the devil to find the lord
Workin' like a nigger for my room and board
    Coal-burnin' stove, no natural gas
If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass
    If that ain't country
    It'll hair lip the pope
    If that ain't country
    It's a damn good joke
I've seen the Grand Ole Opry
    And I've met Johnny Cash
    If that ain't country
    I'll kiss your ass
Mama sells eggs at a grocery store
My oldest sister is a first-rate whore
Dad says she can't come home anymore
    He means it
Ma just sits and keeps her silence
Sister, she left 'cause dad got violent
    And he knows it
Mama she's old, far beyond her time
From chopping tobacco and I've seen her cryin'
When blood started flowin' from her calloused hand
    And it hurt me
She'd just keep working, tryin' to help the old man
To the end of one row and back again like always
She's been through hell since Junior went to jail
When the lights go out she ain't never failed
To get down on her knees and pray
    Because she loves him
Told all the neighbors he was off in the war
    Fighting for freedom
He's good to the core and she's proud
Now our place was a graveyard for automobiles
At the end of the porch there was four stacks of wheels
And tires for sale for a dollar or two
    Cash
There was fifty holes in an old tin roof
Me and my family we was living proof
The people who forgot about poor white trash
And if that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass
    If that ain't country
    It'll hair lip the pope
    If that ain't country
    It's a damn good joke
I've seen the Grand Ole Opry
    And I've met Johnny Cash
    If that ain't country
    I'll kiss your ass
I'm thinking tonight of my blue eyes
    Concerning the great speckled bird
    I didn't know god made honky-tonk angels
And went back to the wild side of life

To All you folks upset over the N word David Allan COE wrote before most of you were even born... Have you listened to your raps & your favorite artist using the n word telling the kids to kill the cop telling them & teaching violence to all race & nationality that has TAKEN OVER AMERICA. SO everyone has a choice in life I know & enjoy every type of music but hot metal filthy rap & what don't SPEAK ENGLISH IN AMERICA. SO BLESS YOU ALL. GOD BLESS AMERICA 🙏🙏. JESUS LOVES US ALL THE GOOD BAD RED, YELLOW, BLACK, & WHITE. A SINNER CAN STILL BE SAVED & A SAVED MAN WAS ONCE A SINNER AS WELL. TO COE, I SAW TO MANY TIMES TO COUNT GOD ENCAMP 10,000 ANGELS ALL AROUND YOU GIVING YOU HEALING MERCY, THE GREAT PHYSICIAN WITH GOD'S HAND GUIDING THEIR MINDS & HANDS, MAY HE GIVE YOU GRACE, MERCY, & PEACE. A CHILD OF GOD, CHERI' STAY STRONG I KNOW CONFEDERATE RAILROAD IS WISHING YOU THE SAME AS I AM .

One of my favorite songs because it makes me proud of how people had to grow up, or give up, and aint a damned thing racist about nuthin unless you take it personal, and if you take it personal, youre a hypocrit. Relax and enjoy life, enjoy a funny joke, and appreciate what YOURE ancestors had to go through to give us the laid back life we have workin to pay our bills and appreciate what weve earned. We just need to get tyrants out of the government and save the country so we can keep working and being proud of what we earn. Vote in November 2024.
