  • This slime trail was over 50 feet in length and the slug continued on its path for another hour before disappearing into leaves. Mucus polymer that is rich in hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. Snail and slug goo is used in cosmetics, was used in ancient times internally for various conditions and is currently being researched as a medical wound adhesive. Cool stuff and an interesting short nature video. Enjoy!

      GREENPOWERSCIENCE As always, thanks for the education, Dan. That's very interesting. Slugs are some unusual creatures for sure. I saw some slugs mating once and it was the weirdest, most alien-like sh!t I'd ever seen.😨😲

    That's impressive. I wonder how much weight it lost over that trek?

    Florida man scorches 50 ft streak on neighbor's driveway with a Fresnel lens and uses giant slug as genius alibi...

    This makes me wonder how much weight a slug loses when traveling over a set distance on a surface, the slime must be water and some kind of protein.
    Get the scales out Dan 🤔

    A few weeks ago my cat licked a slug and you would have thought he was going to die with the face he made. When he sees them now he does NOT lick them now, lol. I could not help but laugh when he did as it looked like it took his breathe away and he was going to die in a funny sort of way (it must have tasted something terrible) not really die.

    They like to rest in front of my door on wet nights. There's nothing like a 5 am squish between the toes. They're 3-4" long in these parts.

      Yikes. I had a giant frog sneak in our house every night for a few weeks. I could hear it thump against stuff when it would land. Every night I would catch it and, "back outside." One night the giant frog landed right on my mouth while I was sleeping. Caught, released and sealed up the window it was creeping in from.

      They seem like great food for chickens. Amazing all the good stuff in the slime.

      GREENPOWERSCIENCE, Chickens will eat anything. When I was out weeding and digging, the whole flock would follow me around keeping a sharp eye out for anything I scare up. They'd fight over field mice and swallow them whole!

    Before messing with snail and slug slime learn about the Rat Lungworm Parasite, it cripples and kills people...

    • @GREENPOWERSCIENCE
      @GREENPOWERSCIENCE  6 лет назад

      Yep, 90% of vegetables are usually exposed especially organic. There is no way to know where a snail or slug has been. You could drop your car keys, pick them up and you are exposed assuming the slug or snail was smashed there. Rat lungworm not usually in slug trail.

    • @Gyva02
      @Gyva02 6 лет назад

      Yup so wash them good as some snail/slugs can be the size same as the tip of a pin. Its not as prevalent on the mainland, but in Hawaii its like playing Russian roulette eating anything that once grew on the ground and yes the parasite has been found in the slim trail as well. Anyone in a warmer suptropic/tropic area should watch some Rat Lung Worm documentaries and become familiar with the parasite.
