    All I can say is...you do what you have to do. I just spent $28 for erythromycin for my 240 gallon. Its been running for three years, clear healthy water...but plants and fish.lots of light, and heavy feeding allowed BGA to get a toehold and not let go with water changes, siphoning it out. 24 hours after the med and BGA is already fading fast.
    Worth it.

    Thank you, thank you very much for this video! I have cloudy water, but I realised that I'm over feeding. I'm just scared that they are not going to get enough to eat and are going to starve to death. Physco sematic I'm sure. But I've got to stop or my fish won't be able to breath!!! LOL. This video has helped me alot. It's a fairly new set up. About a month. I'm learning. Thanks!

    Good advice as usual. I double filter all my tanks. 2 canisters per tank. Plus I use 2 wave makers in each tank. One towards the surface pointed up to help with water surface movement and another on the opposite side low pointing down to help blow debris toward the filter. my water stays crystal clear. I struggle with the over feeding especially with my African cichlids. They will eat till they explode! Lol I do skip feeding them a day a week as you said it helps.

    I added Purigen today as my South American tank was getting cloudy from the break down of Indian Almond Leaves - which I want for the health and biotope-ish look. In 2 hours my tanks’ crystal clear again! 🙌🏻
    I’ve had tanks with & without Purigen and it can be greatly helpful or unnecessary - so make your own call depending on your own circumstances!
    And I clean my glass (& do weekly water changes) religiously. OCD tendencies can be great - for fish keeping! :D

    OK, I am really frustrated. I have had a 40 gallon tank for years and it has become cloudy. I started doing more regular water changes, took care of an algae bloom added a wave maker with a built in carbon filter and I have a hang on filter. I watched this video and you spoke about poly fill. I honestly don't know how to use it so I got on Amazon. I ended up on a Filter First pad that is supposed to help. You cut and fit the pad to fit my hang on the back filter. I added it with the already included carbon filter. That makes the water flow area tight and I am not sure there is enough water flow. Should I use the filter first pad instead of the carbon? I also looked into the Chemi pure blue and it seems to come in a bag. How do I add that to a hang on the back filter? I have four fish that have been in the 40 gallon tank. I also have live plants. If I add any new fish, they are dead by morning. I use Prime to remove the chlorine and stuff. I have also used algae fix for the algae, stress coat during water changes and even quick start recently to see if it would help. All the water tests show everything in the appropriate range. I am ready to give up. Please help. Ill pay for the consultation if necessary. The tank is in my office and patients have been commenting on how cloudy it is.

  • @theholt2ic219

    Honestly the easy way is just to use carbon. A lot of freshwater people are against it but in the saltwater side of the hobby it’s widely used to keep water crystal clear and blue not yellow. I didn’t use carbon at first on my Cichlid tank or planted tank and began using it. The difference is clear. A lot of freshwater people do not like to spend more than they have to. But saltwater people already spend much so paying for carbon is nothing. Doing constant water changes is too much work. With carbon I now can leave the tank for two weeks without changing the water on my 180G oscar tank. Before I did a water change every week and water was always yellow, crystal clear, but yellow.

    About a month ago I excessively disturbed the gravel when I re-buried air hoses - and I think that plus over feeding made the cloudy water, and its still cloudy after several water changes and filter cleanings and much less feeding. Test strips show good levels. Cloudiness has gotten better, but still not crystal clear. Do I dare do a thorough gravel vac now, I'm afraid of making cloudiness worse by disturbing the gravel again at this time. Its the only thing I haven't done, maintenance wise, since the issue began.

    ChemiClear blue will help clear my water in the 20 and 75 tanks. Is it a powder or is it something that you put in the filter. Please help

      I think it could help some. It’s just a bag that you put in your filter

      @@CichlidBros do I replace any other bag in the filter with ChemiClear Blue. I ordered it and this comes in a jar. Is it a powder. Can you explain ?

    • @CichlidBros
      @CichlidBros  3 года назад

      Yep, it should be a bag in the jar. You can replace the carbon or any other chemical filtration with it. Or if you have room in the filter just put in on top. You’ll just want your water flow to hit mechanical media first, then bio, then the chemi pure

      @@CichlidBros in that order or take just the charcoal I have in there already. I am so sorry for all the questions but I used to have Oscar’s over 40 years ago. It was my hobby. Now that I am 70 I want my hobby back. Also I have one of those strip lights on top and the back of the tank is painted blue. Maybe that’s why it looks cloudy. I bought this off of Market on FB. I really just need the help because it was done with cycling and I don’t know what happened

      @@CichlidBros ok I got the ChemiClear Blue for the 75 gallon and it worked in 24 hours. I also got one for the 20 gallon and it’s taking a while to clear. Can you suggest anything else or just leave it run. I did do a water change 20% and vacuum and it was really dirty. The water has a yellow tint to it

    Ah here we go! Ok so I have a topfin Powerfilter sf20 I think. Its just one of those tack on filters that come with their 5 galls. Anyway. Got a 9 gal. I know its NOT a bacteria bloom because I used established water. And it was really clear before I put in API accu-clear. I though I could get “glass grade” water and really should have done more research. Turns out you need good mechanical filtration for the API AC because it clumps. After a few hours it looked like a blizzard. So I swirled it around and after it settled still the same. So I did two 45% seperate water changes. There is no longer enough of the API AC to make it look like snow. But the water is not clear. Its like white tinted. I have white lights but I looks like white water not what it did before, and a lot of white stuff is sticking to my moss and plants. I did buy today online a Fluval Aqua Clear 30 filter. It says it has mechanical filtration. But I’m really really beating myself up over what I did
