I do love that you can see the gears turning in Jinx's head when Ekko tells her if he can see if he can convince her to keep her from blowing BOTH of them up. She still wants to die in that moment but the last thing she wants to do is letting someone she cares even a fraction about dying to one of her explosions. So, she tries to limit the chances of him getting hurt by falling off the ledge with the bomb while also preventing him from being able to physically stop her.
@Tonangle Because she didn't even care enough to think about the possibility, she tunneled vision on ending things. Once it was pointed out to her, the chance of her attempt resulting in his harm, she changed tactics slightly.
i love that detail so much and how her finger slowly slides out of the string for the grenade as she realizes, not wanting to hurt ekko more than she already has and just wanted herself to be gone
Been scrolling to see if someone actually made an intellectual explanation about why jinx falls this time after hearing ekko’s concerns about getting blown up: Side quest completed
dawg Ekko has to be the most heroic and clutch character in the entire series. Same level of downfall as kid powder and violet had, but instead of crumbling, he built a sustainable community in Zaun from the ground up and became the leader. Got transported into a reality where everything was perfect and all he had to do was live his life there. Rejected that and went out of his way to come back because his people needed him. Also literally defied changed the future a God wanted, because he's the goat
In Jinx and Vi's defense. Unlike Ekko who had the freedom to do all this Vi was in prison praying for freedom and Jinx was being raised by Silco. Silco made Jinx believe what she was doing was the right thing and that she's strong as Jinx while isolating her. I'm sure if Vi didn't get arrested she would have been helping.
In Vi's defense, she literally got stuck in prison for 6+ years where she was getting physically hurt constantly. And Jinx has mental illness that wasn't treated and went unchecked You cant really compare the 3 so its no wonder Ekko came out more well adjusted
Especially when jinx said that one line back in act 2 “I just can’t seem to die “ Like she’s has been in multiple death scenarios but she still lucky to survive somehow The times she so close to death is when she had a “suicidal like” attempt (like the bridge bomb scene in s1 parallel to this scene) And her sacrifice in the end
@@journey9411 actually it was dark when she first pull the trigger but after a while Ekko try to stop her it was lowkey funny for the fifth time But again , she still pull the trigger after with no hesitation with 4 attempts

As someone who's been as low as to feel suicidal, this scene just tugged at all the heartstrings. The song, Jinx's melancholy and Ekko doing everything he could to stop her. Absolute masterclass in storytelling.

@@elii_arrt for what it's worth, writing down your feelings on things and reading them over when you've vented is a good way to put things into perspective. Time marches forwards and things will get better.
Given that he’s still new to his time jumping powers, I’m kind of surprised that he didn’t say “would you stop doing that already!?” In at least one of those loops
I kinda wish he did get frustrated and just randomly (from Jinx's perspective at least) had this angry outburst at having to see someone he loved die again and again while he stood powerless to stop her. Still, it adds to his constant compassion and selfless nature (especially when it comes to Powder) that he doesn't get angry, but continues to patiently wade through each death to get the outcome he's looking for.
@@callmev3531 i think it also speaks to how powder in the alternative universe inspired him, saying ''you've never been one to give up on anything ekko'' so he couldnt give up on jinx, no matter what she did, making him even less selfless in that moment

Only noticed until now but the glass shards at 0:56 are shaped like a beast's mouth (Warwick...?). Dunno what to interpret out of it but its still a cool observation!
You honestly gave another hint foreshadowing that Jinx put the grenade in Warwick's mouth, and at the slip second, she shimmered out. She's 100% still alive.
Dude left his perfect world and his perfect girl, and the first thing he sees is his childhood friend and crush trying to blow herself up, multiple times. Dude went through so much and still came in clutch at the end. Absolute GOAT Boy Savior.
I’m shocked nobody else is talking about that!! It really shows the sadness and a glimmer of care when ekko shows up! She was a mere second away from pulling the pin, GONE. His voice pulled her out of her head and watching and hoping that what ekko can say would bring her out!
Don't worry Ekko there are already good reasons to think Jinx is still alive : - There is a scene at the end where Cait is looking at hexgate designs and see ventilation ducts, about where Jinx were during the explosion. During this scene, Cait holds the top of Jinx grenade. Why put this scene if she's not alive ? - During the explosion scene, there is a pink trail on top of the rest of the animation (shimmer speed stuff?) - In a scene at the beginning of the first season, powder says she wants to ride a zeppelin one day, and the end scene is on a zeppelin. This scene ends with a "THE END" written in jinx style. - Make also sense she doesn't tell Vi since she wanted to walk away at some point, to end the violence cycle.
Yeah i agree. Im sure 100% is alive it's not a coincidence the last scene. She leave piltover to start a new life and also to break the cycle and offer to her sister a good life with cat. The showrunners said this season it's the end of the 2 sisters. But if there's another series of this univers, it's very possible that we will see jinx noxus or another place it's dépend what place they will make the serie.
I think she is alive. Her hallucination of Silco said that the way to break the cycle is to walk away. That's what she is doing. Kinda sad because I was hoping Vi and Jinx could have an on screen conversation about all that's happened. I like to imagine Ekko was with Jinx on that airship.
This scene BROKE me. I had to pause and walk away for a minute. I knew since act 4 that Jinx was... done. Then she adopted Isha and I thought there was hope. And then came the end of act five and i knew she was going to be right back in that dark, self-destructive frame of mindset
2:43 I wish they had used the end of the song here, where she sings "...go go, don't let me go", as in the song she has a change of heart and is begging for help, and that just fits jinx so much better in this scene after talking to Ekko.
He didn't go very willingly lol. I respect the show-writers for having it be that he's initially so deep in his (completely valid) distrust and fear towards Jinx that the first thing he does in the timeline when he's popped into the timeline where he's dating her is... sling a heavy metal object at her head. And I love that in that timeline she's so trusting towards him that after dodging that violent attack her response is a hesitant and genuinely disbelieving "Umm... did you just throw that...?" followed by her casually draping herself on his shoulders like 30 seconds later when saying that "Genius and madness" line to Benzo.
“Always a dance with you” the look she gives him when he says that just shatters me, although she doesn’t know what he means the look of curiosity and confusion it felt like she recognized what he said which causes her to momentarily stop pulling the pin which makes it hurt more😭😭😭
has anyone else notice that when she was in jail, they had taken away everything of her accessories? like her neck laces, her white lace that was on her top, her belts, her shoes? just so she can't do anything with them to harm herself?
They did the same when I was institutionalized so I picked up on it pretty quickly, but the details on her belt and shirt even being removed is still such a huge detail. You can really see that she needs help and she was lucky Ekko was there to deliver her some hope.
It could be. But I personally think it’s more likely he seeing it and thinking it was built with her in mind. In the end there’s no way to know these things for sure.
@@ajtcj1356 considering both the phrase ekko said was a thinking of her alternate version, meaning its her own words, AND the look, and ya kow the fact he instantly became toasted like he survived an explosion, Jinx being a genious did connect the dots
Ekko just witnessed her repeatedly blowing herself up-body parts flying and everything. He had to rewind time again and again, resetting his mind each time, so he could focus on talking to her without the haunting image of Jinx being torn to shreds lingering in his thoughts.
It’s even better if you listen to the whole song. It starts out with the singer begging her loved one to let her go, but it ends with her begging them to stay, changing the chorus to ‘don’t let me go’
I don't think I have ever seen a better representation of depression, grief and guilt in an animation as I've seen in the first few seconds of this Arcane clip. The way Jinx is just lying down, rolling, the expression in her eyes... This scene is heart-wrenching
1:19 I just noticed that the first time reversal begins with the word "Grow". This is exactly what Ekko wants to happen with the tree and Zaun - grow. Song: "Nothing can grow." Ekko: "Wait!"
Ep 7 and 8 just cemented Ekko as such an enjoyable, compelling and interesting character. He truly didn't have much of a purpose in s1, and for most of this season. But man, these two eps really gave him his time to shine, I love how his time travel has its limits, and how he keeps his injuries. I'd honestly love an Ekko show, and his voice actor, chefs kiss, just absolutely knocked it outta the park. Hell every voice actor aced their role.
I disagree about him not having much purpose in S1! He's been my favourite character since then! But I do agree that they gave him a lot MORE this season.
@@essendossev362 Same, he's a character with such a strong sense of justice and heroic. He refused to play by the Topside nor the Under city rules, instead he built his own version of safe haven and tried to rescue as many as possible. I've been drawn to him since the very beginning.
Ekko had a very, very powerful purpose in season 1. Look up the video "This is a PERFECT side character" by schnee. He goes over what Ekko represents in season 1 and it's very significant. Also, he's the one who STOPPED Jinx and failed to kill her, but her attempt at getting him away also mortally wounded her, forcing Silco to give her Shimmer treatment to survive, DIRECTLY leading to the things she does in the last act of Season 1.
I really love this scene. As someone who has major clinical depression, I’m very glad they actually showed her going through with it multiple times because it shows how sensitive these situations really are. With that being said, Ekko really came through here. His compassion and strength is shown through his persistence, not his words. Anyone can just say a few encouraging words to someone, but he doesn’t give up. He stays by her side when she needed it the most.
wish this version of the song was released. They posted a version but it doesn’t have the harsher snappier production you can hear here at like 0:48 onwards, and the version they posted ends on a more positive note (“don’t let me go”) whereas this song in this scene was just unrelenting in a way i like
the True MVP since s1, even after losing his adoptive father, friends, romantic interest and best friend, his teacher, he still stay true to his call, never led astray 😢. True MVP and A Hero
Isha didn't fail her. In fact, if she had the choice to make that sacrifice again, she would, because she BELIEVED in Jinx. Jinx just needed help in seeing that.
Even in her lowest moment Jinx is brilliant. It looks like she slowly working out what Ekkos is doing with each of his reset. Noticing his tattoo is fading, starts bleeding, and change his body position without moving. Even when she swapped to jumping off as to protect him from the blast, I am positive on some level her mind was trying to piece the puzzle together and that is what draws her attention to the z-drive and it's remarkable similarities to her style of engineering.
considering how calmly Vi was eating Cupcake minutes after talking about how much she loves Powder... while Powder literally just said she gonna commit suicide summarize the last episode
The scene just felt off like wtf they only had that scene to make the shippers fanbase happy but in a normal case vi would have run out as soon as caitlyn opened the door plus jinx lost isha ofc and she doesn't understand what jinx feeling like my guess is vi has no empathy
I get what you mean, them reconciling in such a wild way, may have worked "better" (as a scene) at a different point, but sometimes people do crazy things when under a lot of stress or in a crisis.
We shouldn’t pretend Vi wasn’t in a bad state of mind too, not to the degree that Jinx was, but you certainly shouldn’t dismiss the pain she’s also gone through. She needed something, anything, to make the pain go away for even a second, and I guess love from a cupcake was that thing. When Cait tries telling Vi she found someone in their time apart, Vi says she just doesn’t care, and I think that answer would apply no matter what Cait might have said. She needs this. At least that’s my reading of it.
This is my favorite scene from this serie... The extreme sad song with the fire... And them Ekko, just saving her like the "boy savior"... It's so perfect
I love the detail of the mark on his face disappearing as he uses the z drive. We only see him use it a few times but that along with his exhaustion possible allusion to the fact that he’s probably rewound that conversation a hell of a lot more. Because it’s Ekko. He has to get it EXACTLY right.
Ekko is the only one that remembers time rewinding, so in Jinx's perspective she would only see 1:51-2:09, then 2:20 and onwards Imagine getting interrupted from your suicide by a person who has saved you 5 times in a span of a minute and you didn't even know it.
"Always a dance with you." He's not wrong. In Jinx's lowest points (Wasteland, What Could Have Been), the songs playing are in the same time signature as a waltz
Gotta imagine how fcking weird this was for Ekko after just falling in love with her joyous, lovely self in another universe to watch her commit suicide several times in a row in a completely dissociated and depressed state without even knowing why… And then he saves her from herself only to hear she died later in the fight he convinced her to join.
As someone who has talked multiple close friends out of suicide, this scene resonated with me so well on what it can feel like trying to help someone you care about not make such a decision. It is just so specific with its details of what it feels like, along with how the scene unfolds through the use of Ekko's rewind only heightens the emotions further. It really can feel like sometimes someone just does not care anymore and how painful that can be to see and feel for both parties. It really captures how careful you have to be with your words because it feels like maybe the next thing you might just say could be some kind of encouragement that they've already heard for the 1000th time already which might make someone think "Is this really the best of all there is to offer?" and just end it right there. There is sm more details and little things to the scene I could point out that make it all the more emotional to me but that would require all the more typing and more personal opening up about myself randomly on the internet. Idk why im rambling about this, I just thought this scene was unbelievably well done more than any other kind of depiction of a "suicide attempt" in media that i've seen and I empathized with it so damn much.
The look in her eyes when he admits to be in love with her. It's seems like a mix of relief and sadness. Relief because she knows she's not alone and someone still cares. Sadness that things didn't turn out differently.
I'm just now realizing that the music that plays during the opening montage plays in reverse every time ekko resets. my guy is so goated he's able to rewind the goddamn SOUNDTRACK.

She still wants to die in that moment but the last thing she wants to do is letting someone she cares even a fraction about dying to one of her explosions.
So, she tries to limit the chances of him getting hurt by falling off the ledge with the bomb while also preventing him from being able to physically stop her.
Hmm then why did she still blow Ekko up at first?
@Tonangle Because she didn't even care enough to think about the possibility, she tunneled vision on ending things. Once it was pointed out to her, the chance of her attempt resulting in his harm, she changed tactics slightly.
i love that detail so much and how her finger slowly slides out of the string for the grenade as she realizes, not wanting to hurt ekko more than she already has and just wanted herself to be gone
@@set9034 zamn that's deep~
Been scrolling to see if someone actually made an intellectual explanation about why jinx falls this time after hearing ekko’s concerns about getting blown up:
Side quest completed
dawg Ekko has to be the most heroic and clutch character in the entire series.
Wdym with the "the future a God wanted". Is this referring to Janna's and Jinx's relationship?
@@JassLJ True but Powder could have gone with Ekko. She rejected Ekko and choose to stay with Silco.
In Vi's defense, she literally got stuck in prison for 6+ years where she was getting physically hurt constantly. And Jinx has mental illness that wasn't treated and went unchecked
You cant really compare the 3 so its no wonder Ekko came out more well adjusted
@@ingenjannik im referring to Victor, who basically became a god, and he won, until ekko set the Z-drive on overtime
Arcane is a really dark show, but this is probably the darkest moment in the entire series.
Especially when jinx said that one line back in act 2 “I just can’t seem to die “
Like she’s has been in multiple death scenarios but she still lucky to survive somehow
The times she so close to death is when she had a “suicidal like” attempt (like the bridge bomb scene in s1 parallel to this scene)
And her sacrifice in the end
Also when the zaun baroness go full leather face against the piltover guard
@@EllnememeAnd she still didn't die at rhe end
Actually, this is the most comedic moment for me ...But I always did have a dark sense of humor. 🫤
@@journey9411 actually it was dark when she first pull the trigger but after a while Ekko try to stop her it was lowkey funny for the fifth time
But again , she still pull the trigger after with no hesitation with 4 attempts
The Detail is crazy. After Ekko told her about blowing them up, she falls down Like trying to protect him.
Absolutely! She does not want to harm any more people, she wants to end the circle, by taking herself out of the equation.
good catch!!
You can also see ekko getting damage from the explosions over and over again
it feels like Jinx already realized something weird after that second time, and did the third time just to make sure xD
When you put it like that what if she was messing with him especially with that last one?😂
If you know how Ekko's powers works... Thats not actually it... She wont know those... You just have to cut the first part and the last sentence ekko says and thats what happened
@@kalsei1081 Might've noticed him bleeding though, as well as his device.
@@kalsei1081 Powder's a very smart girl, she might not know what exactly Ekko is doing but she certainly knew something weird was going on.
She was looking at the device she obviously built but didn't.
Yeah I definitely think the nuance is in the body language and very subtle facial expressions like the movement her eyebrows and the places on and around Ekko she looks at.
As someone who's been as low as to feel suicidal, this scene just tugged at all the heartstrings. The song, Jinx's melancholy and Ekko doing everything he could to stop her. Absolute masterclass in storytelling.
I know right..? I wish i could have an Ekko in this world for me...

This is so Relatable omg read my mind.
@@callmev3531 that would not be different from how Vi tried to convince Jinx time and time again. I think what worked here is that Ekko wants Jinx to live for HER sake, while Vi couldn't bare losing a loved one, so her persuasions did not work for Jinx. Jinx cannot continue living for Vi, she needs to find a way to live for herself, to finally love herself. And Ekko tells her that it is possible...

this comment isn't lol its lmao @vizdrom
Ekko is our true hero in Arcane to save jinx and the world itself.
"Worst she can say is NO"
Lol she didn't even say no funny enough
The way they animated Jinx's eye movements. So much emotion. Absolutely amazing.
I’m shocked nobody else is talking about that!! It really shows the sadness and a glimmer of care when ekko shows up! She was a mere second away from pulling the pin, GONE. His voice pulled her out of her head and watching and hoping that what ekko can say would bring her out!
Don't worry Ekko there are already good reasons to think Jinx is still alive :
- There is a scene at the end where Cait is looking at hexgate designs and see ventilation ducts, about where Jinx were during the explosion. During this scene, Cait holds the top of Jinx grenade. Why put this scene if she's not alive ?
- During the explosion scene, there is a pink trail on top of the rest of the animation (shimmer speed stuff?)
- In a scene at the beginning of the first season, powder says she wants to ride a zeppelin one day, and the end scene is on a zeppelin. This scene ends with a "THE END" written in jinx style.
- Make also sense she doesn't tell Vi since she wanted to walk away at some point, to end the violence cycle.
arcane ep 1, Jinx want to ride a airship. arcane s2 ep 9, ending with a air ship leaving and the screen do a Jinx glitch.
man your right my friend 😮😮
@@AutumnRose1397 I do hope Ekko went with her, he lost many things and already saved the world- he deserves a happy ending too.

So brutal for Ekko to see Jinx actually blowing up, repeatedly
Jinx: keeps trying to blow herself up
Ekko: STOP BLOWING YOUR SELF UP! this time trave stuff is exhausting
This scene BROKE me. I had to pause and walk away for a minute. I knew since act 4 that Jinx was... done. Then she adopted Isha and I thought there was hope. And then came the end of act five and i knew she was going to be right back in that dark, self-destructive frame of mindset
2:43 I wish they had used the end of the song here, where she sings "...go go, don't let me go", as in the song she has a change of heart and is begging for help, and that just fits jinx so much better in this scene after talking to Ekko.
i think they used the first version because he rescues her from that moment
Exactlyyyy listening to the song I’m always like ‘why didn’t they use this part?’😭
that’s how i feel with the jinx & vi scene
She was still having second thoughts and had yet to have a change of heart so I think this ‘pls let me go’ part of the song still fits.
I like how Ekko went from "Jinx is a lost cause" to trying to save and help Jinx.
My gosh!!!! I wondered where the laces from her top and everything were. This makes so much sense. Wow :(((
Her metal hair tie as well. That's why her braid is unravel all over the place
@DarkMoon095 well of course that too, that conceals with her laces as well. That's why
They did the same when I was institutionalized so I picked up on it pretty quickly, but the details on her belt and shirt even being removed is still such a huge detail. You can really see that she needs help and she was lucky Ekko was there to deliver her some hope.
@uselesswriting3092 they really said, every little details matter.
2:34 was her glancing down at the Z-drive and seeing the monkeys her realizing that she helped him build it?
“Someone worth building it for”
It could be. But I personally think it’s more likely he seeing it and thinking it was built with her in mind.
In the end there’s no way to know these things for sure.
He was thinking about her when he built it. That was a part of their childhood
@@ajtcj1356 considering both the phrase ekko said was a thinking of her alternate version, meaning its her own words, AND the look, and ya kow the fact he instantly became toasted like he survived an explosion, Jinx being a genious did connect the dots
no way. she has no idea he went to an alternate reality so that would be a crazy leap in logic
Man. To be honest, these two characters for me are the ones who deserved and needed something better in the end.
Ekko just witnessed her repeatedly blowing herself up-body parts flying and everything. He had to rewind time again and again, resetting his mind each time, so he could focus on talking to her without the haunting image of Jinx being torn to shreds lingering in his thoughts.

This song is so perfect for jinx at this point, she’s lost everything she cared about and is just so tired, just let her rest man, let her go
It’s even better if you listen to the whole song. It starts out with the singer begging her loved one to let her go, but it ends with her begging them to stay, changing the chorus to ‘don’t let me go’
You can actually feel the despair and emptiness that Jinx feels in this moment. Damn this show is amazing
When she realises she’d take him too she jumps 🥲
I don't think I have ever seen a better representation of depression, grief and guilt in an animation as I've seen in the first few seconds of this Arcane clip. The way Jinx is just lying down, rolling, the expression in her eyes... This scene is heart-wrenching
1:19 I just noticed that the first time reversal begins with the word "Grow". This is exactly what Ekko wants to happen with the tree and Zaun - grow.
Song: "Nothing can grow."
Ekko: "Wait!"

Ekko being the thankless backbone of arcane this season
" i just want to talk pow....jinx"
"Yeaaaaaaaa try again i caught that"
wish this version of the song was released. They posted a version but it doesn’t have the harsher snappier production you can hear here at like 0:48 onwards, and the version they posted ends on a more positive note (“don’t let me go”) whereas this song in this scene was just unrelenting in a way i like

Poor jinx and ekko. 😢
