- 5:05am I felt the entire house sway and shake. I heard a loud rumbling sound like I never heard before, not like a truck or anything. A 3.6 mag earthquake hit Maryland.
I live in Catonsville, and was awakened by a loud rumble. I had NO idea what was going on, till I heard it on the radio this morning. I just Thank God that it wasn't any worse.
my favorite two guys. grew up at the station and hanging out on the set there. a lot of good childhood memories at wjz tv.
I felt it. it woke me out of my sleep,but i thought it was part of my dream,cuz when i got up and looked around it was pretty much over,but i still heard a loud rumbling like the air conditioning coming on or the garage opening. my dog didn't even bark. it was like nothing i've felt before, and i kinda feel sad for people who slept through it. it was amazing.
It was felt in Sykesville, from my third floor apartment...cool stuff...
@PrincessAvon1 You are welcome!
@ejbock Your welcome. I am glad you all checked it out on here. I am normally up late anyway, that's why I felt it and posted it.. I tried calling the non emergency number locally and also radio and tv stations to see if they heard anything, I couldn't get through to anyone. I checked the usgs website, reported it right away, then about 20 min later they broadcasted this.
I HOPE ALL U GUYS IN THE DC AREA ARE OK AND MAY GOD BE WITH EVERYONE...
@HowsaBowsaYowsa It's weird about earthquakes when they are about to happen. Sometimes it seems that there is this sudden complete silence like all the critters in the neighborhood are waiting. Occasionally when this happens I strain to hear the noise and every once in awhile I can tell by the approaching noise if I have to hang onto my bed or not. And Cal natives generally know by motion what kind of tectonic plate shifted. There are different jolts to them.
@maumau151
The geology in Maryland is different than that of mexico or california. In places like those 3.6 would be barely anything. Due to the place that Maryland sits on the plate, its very uncommon for one to happen, but when it does it covers a much wider area. It came from under, not along a fault.
my whole house shook, and swayed alittle. Wierd! I heard this deep rumbling sound outside, being on the second floor at the time, I could tell it was down below me but for me it didn't sound like a truck, it was a rumble like I have never heard before. very deep.
i slept through all of this so mad rite now im in silver spring but its only 20 mintues away from the main point
This was my first time experiencing an Earthquake because I'm 13. I thought it was fun (Good thing it was only a 3.6 magnitude). I woke up and was like "What is going on?" And then I went back to sleep. I can't believe I just went back to sleep!
I was in Watertown, NY and turned on WWNY. I did not feel anything.
i was awake for it!
Perhaps nothing is more terrifying than the whole ground shake beneath your feet!! I'm from California and of course we are use to it, but for people who are not it will definitely be scary!
i was at rehoboth beach in delware . i woke up round 5 or 5:30 and i heard bout the earthquake but i think when i turned the tv on its was the weather channel when i heard about it then i turned on wjz.
This one I was up for and didn't even feel it. I thought it was a car passing down my street with his radio volume all the way up to 100 because we get that a lot. I'm in my kitchen on the computer. Dad watching TV. A minor shake starts and he asked me "was that an Earthquake?!" I'm in my head, I said "Dad, this is Maryland not California." but I said no. About 20 minutes later, he flips to WJZ and we see this.
i felt a movement @ 5:05 this morning wen my cousin was getting ready for work and we felt it seven time's

Googled "earthquake in MD" with today's date and lo and behold, it was confirmed. Wow. Isn't this the first earthquake recorded that has originated within our state?
