- Amtrak Cascades is a passenger rail service in the Pacific Northwest, connecting the major cities of Eugene, Portland, Seattle, Everett, Bellingham, and Vancouver. In this video, we will see Amtrak Cascades trains in action in early 2024. The focus of this video will be on the portion of the route north of Seattle, which travels right along Puget Sound. Train equipment seen in this video includes both the Amtrak Horizon Fleet cars and the Talgo Series 8 train sets, owned by the state of Oregon.

The Talgo 6s were taken unjustly. Sad to see them gone
I did not expect the series 6 sets to be retired
I really miss the older series 6 Talgos. Those “shark fin” transition cars were really pretty.

I can't wait to see the airo trains on this route. I hear they're an Americanized varient of the OBB railjet in Europe
Pretty much. It’ll be great to see new rolling stock and more of the Cascades paint finally!

I had the pleasure of riding the Cascades in November of 2023 and managed to get a Talgo. It helped that I religiously watched Virtual Railfan's camera from Chehalis to get an idea as to which trains typically had Talgos. Great video all around.
I particularly liked the fog and snow scenes, very beautiful.

thanks for the vid sir - I watched the north bound Cascades fly across the bridge over Ebey Slough in Everett just this morning, (looked like one of the remaining Talgo sets.)

Great video on the Cascades trains!
I remembered a theory a while ago I rode on the Cascades trains (with Talgo 6s before they were retired in summer 2020)
And today, we can catch them, or ride them, between a fleet mixture of Talgo 8s or Horizon coaches.
I have remembered now that I have been through the entire route of the Cascades.
Plus, I'm really excited for the Airos to come to the Cascades soon!
Can’t wait for the Airos too. The Cascades paint will shine again!

P42s less often now. Hope to have one more on a future Cascades I ride
WSDOT and ODOT oughta buy some as backup or rescue power so that Cascades stops relying on late BNSF or UP rescue units. A Cascades P42 would also be pretty sick.

Sure gonna miss seeing the Talgos in Vancouver WA. The paint scheme was perfect for a train serving the northwest. At the same time, I am excited to see the new rolling stock that’s coming soon. Not to mention riding it to Seattle.

Amtrak stopped replacing superliners with airo cars
@@salishaelder-christensen509 They were never going to replace the Superliners with Airo sets. The Airo sets are for intercity routes. There’s a separate RFP that was put out for bi-level equipment and other long distance equipment.

@@StefanWithTrains3222 It was a joke, although freight companies do continue to refuse to put up wires since that would be another maintenance cost to them. Hell, they want to avoid wires so bad that CPKC and CSX even jumped straight to hydrogen locomotives!
