Honestly, I totally relate to buying products because of the hype. Some products are worth the hype and the money you spent but some just fall completely flat. And the worst is knowing you won't get your hard earned money back on any of these purchases.
Depending on their quality and usage you can sell them on ebay or depop for close to what you paid. Only liquids you shouldn't really share with others.
I think a lot of products work for some people and not work for others. Like i love the blendiful from tati i was surprised she didnt. Maybe because she was using it like a beauty blender and thats not how youre meant to use it

I find that it also has a lot to do with personal preference. I truly enjoy watching make up videos, but only like very natural finish complexion products on myself. In the end, it took me some time to figure out there was a mismatch between what I wanted, and what people were recommending. So I now try and figure out whether, even if a youtuber is raving about something, whether the attributes they are raving about are things I even want for myself. For instance, turns out I hate any product (except eyeshadow) with microglitter.
As an example, I saw a lot of people recommended the nyx high glass primer to make skin look more dewy, but when i got it in the mail I was very disappointed.

The blood lust palette is another palette with weird colours. I swear people only buy them cause they from jefree
Edit: I'm not doubting the quality of the palette I'm just saying $50CAD is a lot to fork out at once for an eye shadow palette. It may have sold better had he have done to mini palettes $25 each or sum. Obviously it depends on your financial state and what your priorities are but for the average person $50 is a lot to fork out at once for an eye shadow palette
Abbey Ukulele oddly i found an Essence pallet called I’m with the band that has a similar color story, I decided to use that and if I enjoyed using it, I would have taken the plunge....I used it once, there was my answer!!! You know I have decided to go back to single shadows,!

I own blood sugar and blood lust cause those have the colors that I use the most aka reds, pinks and purples and I love both of them. Wouldn't buy them anymore tho..
Se A as much of a shitty person jeffree may be you can say his products are crap because they aren’t. His eyeshadow formula is on of the best on the market for the price range as are his lipsticks which are a shame considering how awful he is
I bought the blood lust palette because I love purples, pinks, reds, oranges (and bronzes) on my eyes and I love the palette. I bought it because finding decent purples/lilacs is so hard and I think the palette is great. I didn't buy it because it was JS I bought it because it was a great palette. I love the actual case it comes in also. I know there is all this hoo hah with JS etc at the moment BUT TBH I am not going to stop using it because of that. Why waste my money and stop using a product I love because of that? x

It’s cool to show my friends and let them use, since no one really had a red shadow, but that is about it, and it was $54!!!!
I also have it, and yes, it is a pretty pallette, but it's also a challenging one. Some shades stain awfully, and yes, I'm aware that vegan formula does that, however it doesn't make it any less unpleasant. And honestly, some other shades are plain old patchy and hard to blend. I also have Blue blood and it's not that hard to work with, so yeah, Blood lust definitely had it's flaws.
I regret every purchase from jeffree. I don't wear liquid lipstick or bold colours so it's my own fault...

Drama aside, I would never buy a Jeffree eyeshadow again. His formula has been hyped for SO long, and I was wrapped up in the docu-series so I bought the Conspiracy and Controversy. Since then I've used them three times each, I would consider myself pretty good at eyeshadow and they're the hardest formula to work with in the world. They blend out to nothing, they're chalky, they don't layer well even over a tacky base, and I just never reach for them because they're a pain in the arse. I always go back to my Beauty Bay Matte Brights palette, Ace Beaute palettes and the Juvia's Place palettes. I'm trying to get rid of my Conspiracy and Controversy now hahah
Idk, I think they're quite good. I don't especially like Jeffree, but I have to admit that most of his products are fairly good. Hmm.

I really agree with you on the Shane collab palettes. I have Jeffree’s other palettes and they’re waaaaay better than the Conspiracy collection. Really regret buying those two palettes, as they’re probably the worst formula out of all of his palettes
The soph x revolution pallettes are my go to. But I've heard a lot of good things about Julia's place, is it really that good? I might give it a go then

Before all the drama, i have loved jeffree star eyeshadows. I have gotten lots of use out of my blood sugar palette. But i was so disappointed with the conspiracy palette when i got it because of the hype. I don't feel inspired to use it and I can't for the life of me think of a look that makes me want to grab it. And then the drama came around and I regretted buying that palette even more. 🤦♀️ #WasteOfMoney

Shane and Jeffree are very harmful people, not worthy of anyone’s support for a very long time. Tati is drama. I’m frustrated by the use of this term right now with these two. It’s invalidating... yeah the products are not great but let’s call a spade a spade, not beat around the bush... we are not buying from them due to their actions and painful disregard.

My first time buying a “prestige” item was the Tarte Shape Tape concealer and I haaateee it and feel so alone when I say that 😂 I adore their clear brow gel though! I bought two blendifuls because I got one for my manager as well and I can agree on regretting it because I also felt like it took much longer to use when it was supposed to be the opposite.
Omg I hated it too! I think it's too cakey and dry for my skin! I ended up returning it! I hate returning products but I really did NOT like it.
Lock down has had me spending hundreds on makeup and products! My bank balance is already regretting it!! 😂🤷
....In fact, I've never ordered so much stuff full stop during lock down than i have in my whole life!! 😂

I just wanna remind small youtubers reading this comment that slow progress is still progress. I know alot of people are discouraged to continue doing youtube because of slow growth but trust me, when time passes you’ll look back and realize you’ve come so far. Even if you only gain 10 subs a day, after 10 days that’s 100 more subs you’ve gained. Don’t underestimate yourself and don’t use copyrighted music because you think you won’t ever get monetized anyway. You’ll regret it when you’re monetized and spend your time disputing copyright claims because you didn’t believe you could ever get monetized. When I first started youtube 2 months ago I thought I’d never get monetized so I kept using copyrighted music. Now here I am with 3k subs and halfway to getting monetized and regretting my past actions, disputing my copyright claims all day. Don’t be like me. Just wanted to spread some tips to help out small youtubers who need a confidence boost. ❤️

Also agree that Jeffree lipglosses aren't that nice. I find them gloomy and sticky and it was so expensive considering you can get some nicer formulas from drugstore!

For the florence concealer I think it’s light as it was meant for natural makeup and makeup that you can wear to school. I think she said it was meant to be affordable for school children and stuff. So the concept of the brand was light and natural makeup.
But it's £16!! When I was at school an affordable concealer was £1.99 natural collection or collection 2000 (yes there used to be a 2000 on the end!) for £2.99 I accept that I'm an old lady and that teens aren't plastering dream matte mouse on their faces anymore(thank goodness!) but £16 is pretty pricey!

@@mayab199 I worked at a fairly busy Boots store up until recently and Florence by Mills was the skincare/makeup brand we sold the LEAST of. We never restocked it and the items were literally collecting dust on the shelves. The only products I ever saw people buy were the undereye pads and the face mist.
