As always and Excellent video from ya'll!!! Beautiful lion and good hunting! Awesome PH and guides and trackers!! Ya'll always deliver Excellent video's!!!!
Not only do I love your videos and the attitude behind them, but I much appreciate your focus on how conservation and hunters go hand in hand. As you well know, conservation groups ally themselves regularly with hunting groups, such as Ducks Unlimited, to push back and ensure that wild places in North America are sustainably preserved.
I might be going after a lion myself in 2023 in free state south africa and this video has got me extremely excited for it if I do end up going for the lion
Wow. Your videos are amazing and your crew is great. Alot of people don't realize how important hunting is to conservation. Here in Montana our fwp depend on that money to maintain this ridiculously beautiful state so thank you for hunting here.
Great video & because me & my pals that watch are much older now (we're your age), we thank you for editing out the entire segment after you jumped at 14:20. That's cause we believe the lion got up & charged to tear you to pieces! Thank you for your consideration of our health (cause we're old) & our feelings...!??
Congratulations buddy big lion Nice gun by the way. I love hunting and fishing i have hunted and fished all my life. I did my dream hunt 2 years ago shot a Black bear in Canada that was huge to me it was a hard hunt but a fun time there. Merry christmas to you all from Sweden 😁🖒
Hello again Alain! Another of your great hunt's. I saw that your rifle is from GUNWERK's, in .375 Ruger. What ZEISS scope do you have on this rifle? And who's maker, weight and bullet type cartridge's did you use? Andrew, in Lviv Ukraine !
@@JAlainSmith still an effing monster cartridge. can't imagine the recoil on a 600 grainer at 2100 fps. I shoot 525 gr at about 1625 out of my 45-70, and that's fairly attention-getting.
Aaah i was half expecting him to throw the ball shattering boomerang and hitting the lion in the balls on accident causing a benny hill song to ensue as the lion chases him back and forth in and out of the screen
Ive been watching a lot of these vids lately (You Tube rabbit hole stuff).. Australian mainly with Water Buffalo, pigs, goats and donkeys (P.S. I'm not a hunter BTW).. I kind of just don't get the same ... feeling??? when I watch this one. I totally get the $$ for conservation thing. But, I don't know what it is. If old mate had shot and killed a Roo in Africa.. That would make sense... to me. I appreciate that others see things differently and that fine.. Im sure these things are well managed.
@Nairu Arts I am sorry, but that Lion is not even 6 years old. 1) Look at the teeth (Nice and sharp and and white of color) Old lion's teeth is brown and not that sharp any more. 2) Look at the eye casing, old lions have a round inward scull shape, not this line, allot of flesh around the eye. This is the first thing you will pick up when hunting a lion. 3) Look at the skin and main, still beautiful not much territory fights yet, if at all. I will show you a picture of a 2 years old lion, 6 year old and a 8 year old lion, then you will agree with me. An 8 Year old lion in Tanzania looks like it had it's shares in life.....
@Nairu Arts I here you. I am from South Africa. It is unprofessional for a professional hunter to hunt any animal before it has reached it's prime (in this case is the male lion). I especially blame the tour guide ''professional hunter" that should have picked up that this was a very young lion. And that is He's job, for the over sea hunter might not know that. I know nothing about bears and wolves, so therefore I would rely on a professional hunter that are well known to the area, to make sure that I don't shoot a young animal. Long story short, these guys think we all are stupid. I can't believe it is on youtube.
I'm just curious on how you would know that this male lion did not have a pride that now will be susceptible to having its young killed before they are old enough
He was all by himself in open terrain. we could see vast areas from the truck. No sign whats so ever of females and kittens. He would never be off by himself if he was a pride lion. He would stay with the females to protect his harem from other males.
@@mr.rogers1962 Not in my experience or any prides I have seen. The lion was aged at 8 plus years so one way or the other he was not with a pride at that age...
@@GMATTOEFLSATGRECOACH So what. That's hunting. If you don't like it don't watch. Besides the females do the hunting in a pride. The worst that would happen is that another male takes over and kills any cubs the previous lion sired and becomes the new boss. So stop crying with your silly "ethical" arguments. Alain Smith is a very ethical hunter and knows his stuff. Spew your garbage somewhere else!
Why hunt Lions there aren't that many of them, I mean there not endangered but not very many at all. Hunt Buffalo and other herbivores they're plentiful.
Lion populations are very healthy in many African countries where sustainable use conservation and hunting are allowed. Where lion are in bad shape is in countries such as Kenya that does not allow hunting and therefore gives no incentive to locals to protect them. There they are shot on sight as cattle killing vermin other than in a few parks.
As a lifelong hunter and one that takes balistics seriously to insure I have done my part in delivering a good clean kill, I am disappointed that your vids no longer mention your rifle caliber, bullet choice, or anything I could use to link your expert performance to improve my hunting skills.
That's the way to hunt lions, no hide,no bait but on your feet where the odds are more even.Well done, Alain!
