  • @Coxdrums89

    Yep. Walked straight to it, as you can see in the video. Kinda funny, hit every drum, let them ring. Sonor is truly the Drummer's drum.

    was that danny carey's kit at 8:58?

  • @StevenMcPeterbilt
    @StevenMcPeterbilt 12 лет назад

    Another thing though. the SQ2 series allows you to put any finish on a kit, so DW's finish choice does not win either actually.

  • @StevenMcPeterbilt
    @StevenMcPeterbilt 12 лет назад +3

    In my opinion they are better sounding, not dead like all DW's, all DW's I've heard are poor in terms of resonance/projection/cut, Sonor's cut through but are not overly present, just a perfect mix. I'll give you the better looking as an opinion thing however, as they both make great finishes. Sonor definitely wins in quality, take a look at the 600 series hardware and 9000's will look like toys, and I've heard so many DW horror stories on quality control issues. Really give Sonor a chance.

      ShittyMcPoopyBalls first of all wow, is that really what your name is?
      DW collectors are made in Oxnard CA. By Americans and nothing about this video impresses over the DW factory tour. Both are great drum makers, let’s face it maple is maple, and as far as finishes go, DW will create for you whatever your mind desires, period. Hardware quality, is what DW started out as, and as far as the look of said hardware, I personally like the turret lugs over anything else. Just go to DW factory tour and compare the two manufacturing plants and you’ll see the love and caring that go into each drum. Did I mention made in the USA 🇺🇸? Both brands are very good. Thomas Lang went from Sonor to DW by the way. Ask him why, watch that video!!!

      Tom Schuette I'm not a huge DW fan but I will say this the quality control at sonor is awful!

    No entiendo porque cuando uno va a comprar un instrumento de estos, en el almacén lo encuentra desafinado...en la mayoría de estos vídeos de fábricas veo que siempre los afinan?

    I've never seen an "ugly" finish on any Sonor drum.. They're all eye candy..

      Rhythmista I do agree with you on that. Some of those burl lava ruby reds are amazing. But truth be told I don't care for the company or the $ for the sound you get.

    In the beginning of this video the guy who sands the shell to make sure the bearing edges are flat took 3 seconds, ONLY 3 SECONDS! and he didn't even check it on a piece of granite. He just walk's right over and tooled the bearing edge. For the price you pay on an upper end sonar kit they better take more time in quality control than what I just saw. Is anybody else shocked or is it just me? Some of those finishes are so beautiful. Like those Lava Mapa Burl ruby fade. But then they get to where he's tuning the drum using 1960s late 60s equipment it's just ridiculous give me a break

    Looks like Bobs drum factory.lol Great sounding drums though. Small factory but maybe that's better cause every piece that comes out of there is given the attention they need.

  • @Rockin_Ross
    @Rockin_Ross 7 лет назад +2

    A tour of the factory, not a tour of the manufacturing process. This showed me nothing but pretty drums and router tables.
    How are their shells made? Reinforcement rings put in? Sanding and different finishes applied?
    If I were to go by this “factory tour”, I’d not buy this brand.

    @pjreynoldssa1 the DW factory was probably more informative because they weren't trying to speaking in a non-native language! Hahah. Sonor for life!

    • @mnkrck
      @mnkrck 7 лет назад

      not their governments fault that people in europe and north america can´t even afford their own stuff... also tama showed their chinese production which as far as i can see no other company did. the chinese factory looked good as well. judging from this i would rather buy a cheap tama than a cheap sonor.

    Looks very old, outdated and unimpressive, to be honest! I played some Sonor kits and they’re nothing special. They’re snares are really nice. I remember, wanting to buy a snare from a Delite kit, like 15 years ago and the owner of the Drum Shop wouldn’t sell the snare, separate from the kit. Too bad! The kit wasn’t anything special but the snare was exceptional!
