One thing I love about this GP is this is the race that Max redeemed himself throughout the season, from his improvement in Toro Rosso, to his first win in Spain, to people doubting him from Monaco onwards, to his controversial moving under braking driving style, to Ferrari having problems with him, then Mercedes themselves having problems with him that got Toto to tell his father to tell his son to "stay out of this" to now this.
I don't think he needed to redeem himself. He switched teams during the season and he already gave the biggest challenge for Ricciardo out of his team mates including Vettel, he broke a tons of records and achieved 7 podiums. Getting used to a completely different car and team isn't that easy. For example Kvyat was absolutely destroyed by Sainz but another example is Fisichella who left Force India for Ferrari during 2009 and didn't score a point while Kimi was on the podium multiple times. So that was a very impressive season by Max no doubt why the team principals voted him as the 2nd best driver of the season behind Hamilton and in front of Rosberg. Moving under braking was legal until Mexico, but the Ferrari drivers and fans successfully cried a river to introduce it into the rule book. And what happend after that? Vettel got penalized at Mexico for moving under braking. Fantastic job.
