if u get a wireless adapter u can do that, like the otto cast play 2 video pro wireless it gives u RUclips and CarPlay and android auto and it lets you screen share your phone to your thing its really nice if u look it up online.
Bruh, you just saved me months of tiring work and frustration with trying to connect my iPhone to my dashboard Home Screen. I even took it back to the garage where I bought my truck and they couldn’t figure it out. Thank you!!!
No video shows where they're plugging it in. All the videos just say "once you connect the phone just do this" but doesn't show where to connect it. Wtf? How is that a tutorial?
I have a 2016 camaro2LT with the 7 inch screen. I tried connecting my android but it only shows Apple play. Did they not install Android Auto on my vehicle?
Soo I’m sure it’s different on all models but I have been trying for over a year to get Apple CarPlay to work in our 2018 Buick encore. Bluetooth works but I couldn’t figure it out and i plugged my regular lightning cable into the usb port in the little center area under the climate control and everything. It popped up a message on the phone and now Apple CarPlay works!! It’s really cool and feels like I got a mini iPad in the dash
Yes. It's super simple: Set your phone in front of the screen, preferably in the horizontal position, and you're done. (I'm just making fun of the fact that Android Auto or Apple Carplay are touted as such huge breakthroughs, but I'm able to that and more just by setting my phone in front of my MyLink screen in my '14 Cruze.)
My 2016 Lacrosse has Projection icon but in settings I only see apple carplay. It was my understanding that Projection meant it will support both android auto and apple car play not just one or the other? Thanks
Make sure you go into the settings on your car MyLink system and turn on Android Auto. That is a common solution that people don't realize they need to do
If using Android auto, you do have to use specific usb cable, usually the one that came with your phone. I tried some cheap cables and they wouldn't work. Couldn't get it to connect and would get a message... Google it and buy good quality sub cable...
You follow the same steps except on the new Malibu there is no projection button. What you will see is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay apps. Just plug your phone into the USB port is the first step
I would like to plug my Android (Samsung S4) in via USB and not get the nagging phone screen asking if I want to setup Android Auto. Any idea how on my 2018 Colorado Infotainment system? I tried Android Auto but didn't care for limited apps (could access My Places via Maps in Android Auto), so Uninstaller it... I'll just pass the audio through the system via Bluetooth or Auxcillary In and use my phone screen as usual. Thanks!
With my TV I can do two cool things with my Galaxy S8, I can mirror my screen, this allows me to see exactly what I see on my phone on my TV. Also there's a feature called broadcast (i think) that allows me to play videos or RUclips clips on the TV. Is there any way to do either of these things with this?
It seems that my Info button has been replaced by a Projection button. How do I get my Info button back? I didn't do anything to make this happen. The Projection button just showed up last week.
Check the settings to ensure that both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are turned on. If you don't have those settings in there then you likely don't have them on your truck (back in 2016 they weren't standard on every model)
And if it's not working? The cord Ive been using works fine but suddenly it stopped I replaced the cord I know what kind to use and it's not reading. I just replaced the fuses still not working. I pulled the USB out disconnected and reconnect, still not working I can't use my android auto anymore what's going on?
@@destinylewis737 honestly it wants me to use which ever one I don't plug into. It says use a different slot every single time I plug in. It works good thou. Plug it in before you take the car out of part and use the usb port in the arm rest.
I was hoping the projection thing was going to be so that you could see video through the screen. I didn't know it was just another way to have Android Auto hooked up. As soon as I plug in Android auto works and then once I move my phone 1/2-in goes out and comes in and goes out and comes in so I have to end up unplugging it and using Bluetooth or else it will keep cutting to the radio because the USBs are all wiggly
2016 was before android auto was introduced in MyLink. Dealership has to upgrade it. Or download the software online and install it yourself if you have a GM link cable for a laptop.
My only other suggestion would be to check in the settings to see if Android Auto has been enabled. Some GM vehicles require you turn the feature on first. Hope this works!
I'm having the same problem. I just changed from an iPhone to a Galaxy 9. I think you have to follow the directions and do a factory reset to get android auto to appear on the screen. Right now all I see is Apple car play as an option.
Aww nuts. I was hoping it was set up so my passenger could watch Netflix while I'm driving 😂

Been messing w mine for 3 years and even went back to the dealer they got apple to play . They said it was my cell 😮
No video shows where they're plugging it in. All the videos just say "once you connect the phone just do this" but doesn't show where to connect it. Wtf? How is that a tutorial?
I connect my phone and it still says to use this feature connect supported device to usb
Did you find the fix? Mine is doing this too
Did y’all figure this out?
Any luck?
Sometimes android auto is turned off in your phones settings
Did this problem get solved?
Very helpful!! Just got my new car and I had no clue what the Projection button was. I was looking desperately for Airplay lol.
I have a 2016 camaro2LT with the 7 inch screen. I tried connecting my android but it only shows Apple play. Did they not install Android Auto on my vehicle?
thanks for explaining about projection because for a year I had no idea what that button was. Now I'm using it with Android auto and I am very happy!

I had my Chevy Bolt for 2 years and wondered what that meant...Lol. Thanks! Thumbs-up from me.
Is there any way to mirror an android phone to the truck screen?
Yes. It's super simple:
Set your phone in front of the screen, preferably in the horizontal position, and you're done.

With the use of third party apps yes.

I just wanted to watch Netflix on my car lol
Did it work while you were driving?
You won’t be able to
What is "once you plug into it" what type cable, where is the plug in the vehicle?
There isn't, u need to use your phones cable that came with it

Thank you! I figure it had to be the cord I was using.
Where do you plug in that cable in a Chevy 1500?
It should be next to your auxiliary power outlet (cigarette lighter), where you plug in your phone's car charger.

No they don't allow stuff like that since it would be unsafe when used improperly
why won't my 2018 chevy cruze lt mylink system pair up with my android cellphone?
Yeah but where do you connect the wire ?
Anybody?
There are two USB ports below the infotainment and climate controls
Not In the Chevy 1500
The port is in the glove box for anyone who owns a 1500
It seems that my Info button has been replaced by a Projection button. How do I get my Info button back? I didn't do anything to make this happen. The Projection button just showed up last week.
Where did u connect the wire to?
When I plug my phone in on my 2016 sliverado it doesn't change at all
Same
If your not using an iPhone or an android it’s not gonna work. If you’re using one of those phones, you likely need a new wire or an authentic wire.
How do get that projection button my 2016 gmc truck it doesnt have one.
Check the settings to ensure that both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are turned on. If you don't have those settings in there then you likely don't have them on your truck (back in 2016 they weren't standard on every model)
If I connect via Bluetooth will the same results happened? Do I have to connect using a cord?
Yes you will have to use the cord for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay. Otherwise it'll just remain the projection button
