Winter vs Spring: Adtranz DE2000 at Aghies/Xiniada area.

- What's the best Winter or Spring aourn the railway line? A video from some archive shots filmed between 2012-2014 at the old line between Lianokladi and Domokos. Aghies are located at the old shores of Xiniada lake which was dried up in early 19th century. Now this old section of the main line has been replaced by the new high speed corridor. In the video can be spotted under construction where it crosses the old line.

Hello Werner! The lake was dried up for arable land and in order to fight the malaria desease that plagued the area due to many swamps created at the shores.

@@wutzeichhorn They used canals, to trasnfer the water from Xiniada to the man-made Smokovo lake (only a few miles west). One of the canals used for draining Xiniada can be seen at 4:30 of this video.
