I just installed a new motor on my horizon t202. It still smells after about 30mins of use. I did lube it prior to using the new motor. Perhaps I can really lube it up again. I did take off a bit of the tension on motor drive belt. I’ll see how it goes now.
At the end of the day, it kept heating up. I suspect it was the deck and its coating. Anyways, I’ll be tossing this treadmill but I’ll Keep the motor. The cost of a new deck was too much (in relation to purchase a new one with warranty). Maybe I could have flipped it, but it did not have the coating on the opposite side. I have a new Nordic track 7i. So far so good.
I took over someone's treadmill and they said they never had any issues. The cable is too short to plug it in, so I used an extension cord. After being on the treadmill for about 20 minutes, it omitted a burning smell and i saw a bit of smoke, coming from the front. Is this because of the extension cord?
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo it might have been faulty. It's a very long one, simple, thin and old. I went out today to buy a shorter and very powerful extension cord, one that can handle a treadmill. Hoping that that will do the trick. I live in Israel and going for long walks/runs isn't really an option now due to rockets being fired into our area 😔 But I need the exercise
what happens when you hear a slight humming/buzzing noise from the motor after use? I have a walking treadmill and recently was walking on it at 3.2mph for just over an hour and then it just stop dead after the second time of walking at the speed for the same time. Is it possible the belt needs lubrication and if so, will the humming sound go away eventually?
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo Hmm.. well the slight hum sound only comes from the display when I turn it on to start walking. I did lubricate as per the manual. I varied the time and speed and the motor didn't have an issue that time.
@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo turn on and it's fine. Just when I press the remote to get it going. That's the only time I hear it. My guess is the motor overheated from doing 3.2mph for an hour and 20. That's why it shut down.
Just bought one from someone else and they said they only used it twice. It was working well the first two weeks but now whenever we use it it smells like it is burning and the whole house smells
No problem at all, glad it helped. Definitely DO NOT use WD40 on the belt, it is corrosive and will slowly ruin the belt. Use a silicone lubricant, either a silicone spray or silicone oil 🙂
Here's where I think my issue was. Buying a piece of shit Pro-Form. They already replaced the motor, and the circuit board, thing didn't even work correctly out-of the box. Now suddenly it's making a burning smell. This is what I get for buying a treadmill from Canadian Tire. Could have bought a used one for the half the price that would be better than this garbage.
@thomasbyrne4116 Sounds like the drive belt isn’t tight enough and is slipping causing the burning smell. The motor sits on an adjustable bracket and it’s really difficult to get the tension right, I’d say it wasn’t adjusted right when they installed the motor and this is the result
We have an old Proform 6.0 RT I have been trying to troubleshoot, so this is a good video to watch. It definitely runs fine for about 30 min and then starts to smell. The engine shroud is warm to the touch. I have taken the shroud off, vaccummed thoroughly, relubricated the walking belt thoroughly with silicone lubricant, tightened it and it worked grwat for about 3 sessions. Now, its back to smelling and shutting down. The belt seems like its in good shape. I centered the belt, spent the better part of an hour cranking on the allen key ends trying to get it to stay center. It likes to drift about a 1/2 to 3/4" inch to the right when walking on it but its properly tight on the deck. I'm starting to think its the motor but getting a bit frustrated....

How'd it go with doing that?
What ended up happening?

Thank you for this info.
How hot or warm should belts be or get?
Warm is fine but if it’s getting hot it’s definitely a problem
What brand of silicone lubricant do you recommend?
He’s using wd40 silicone

I wouldn’t imagine the extension cord is to blame unless it’s faulty

You can definitely try lubricating the belt, if this doesn’t fix the problem sounds like you may need a new motor

If the hum is from the display it shouldn’t be a problem at all

No problem 😊

Thank you for being so clear and helping me understand how to potentially solve the problem. Can I use WD 40 or a special kind of lube for the belt?

@@FitnessEquipmentHowTo this belt doesn't feel like it could get any tighter honestly
