My prediction: the new party will win South Korean elections, a boatload of corruption charges will be made against the old party, then the new leader will pardon everyone, because South Korean politics is just "how much money can we extract out of the economy on behalf of Samsung, LG, and Hyundai"
Pretty much
Sounds very similar to the US, but for Lockheed, Boeing, Amazon, GM, Private prisons, Pharmaceuticals, etc etc
@@toyotaprius79 America has so many different competing interests that the oligarchs still have to fight each other, so occasionally the people do get a word in edgewise.
In contrast, 80% of South Korea's GDP is just chaebols (Samsung/LG/Hyundai). If America worked this way, Apple wouldn't just make your phones and the custom chips that go in them, they'd be making TVs, air conditioners, electronic components, cellular and fiber routers, washing machines, and cars.
In fairness, it might be a token liberal moderate who manages to personally avoid corruption, then their entire cabinet gets exposed for corruption, they lose popularity, and the conservatives immediately come back by promising more power to Samsung and to sell out to the US even further!
Nicaragua is one to talk😭😭

These heat records and odd weather patterns are definitely concerning... I hope it isn't too late for anyone to have an impact on it.
It doesn't matter at all whether it's too late because it will be too late before anyone does anything about it and Europe will have to deal with the migration of many millions of people.
@@DrVictorVasconcelos if you think migration will be the biggest problem you're in for a world of pain
When there's too many immature +50 year olds parroting that industry caused CO2 global warming a woke hoax, when private lobbying in astro turf political pressure to kill the nature restoration bill, is there any wonder why it's too late?
On a geophysical level, there's still far more warming potential left with the concentration of CO2 we have now. Permafrosts.are erupting methane, rainforests or dying back and emitting GHG too, both polar sea ice and continental/glacial ice are shrinking increasing the albedo from the sun also helped by the well meaning reduction if Sulphur pollution from shipping fuel. ,
Climate patterns are changing drastically, plus the fact that at +420ppm of CO2 oceans were +30 metres higher is like putting an ice cube out in warm room temperature, it doesn't disappear right away but it will.
This is what hysterical climate deniers don't understand for themselves as they boast about dragging new life into this world.

If Germany is convicted in the International Court of Justice, what ramifications would there be?
Well, none, really.
They would be ordered to do something (or in this case: not do something), but they can ignore it AFAIK. The US did this was a Nicaraguan case in the 80s (and blocked punitives measures by the UNSC) and Russia did it in 2017, where they were ordered to (essentially) protect the rights of the Crimean Tatars, which were (and still are) under defacto control by them.
So, in short, if you don't give a damn, there are no consequences unless the UNSC sanctions you.
@@Zirror I see, thank you
@@Zirror I hope that there are at least some political ramifications/PR damage. If not from without, then from within since image is apparently more important than lives.
But I fear that a very certain, and brown-shirted, section of our government will spin at as "Semites bad" and try to drown the actual lesson out.
It ain't gonna happen
@@Xene4GamesThe worst ramifications would be that it succeeds, the UN is already pretty unpopular here and all parties across the political spectrum are in favor of Israel, in fact you can expect support to rise after the next election in 2025 where the conservatives are almost guaranteed to win, who currently which to step up support for Ukraine and Israel. So it would likely only result in the most pro Palestinian party (the Greens) getting another humiliation(as there party leader holds the foreign ministry, who has already been heavily criticized by the opposition by being „incompetent“ and „a Gender dictator“ along with making politics without the rest of government and even doing solo missions while going against Agreements)

Nicaragua said it's okay for Russia to invade Ukraine being one of four countries not condemning them and with their history I'm sure they don't have any right to judge. It's like who are they that can pick and choose who gets to die?
Unsurprising. Russia's puppets have always been pathetic.
and there you have a point, but oh boy, have you forgotten that they do not send arms to russia? america, the UK and other european countries do, and they do not seem to condemn israels decades long colonialism of palestine and the middle east
israel literally annexed SEVERAL territories from other countries, by UN law, they have the right to take those back, like Ukraine has, but oh no, america doesn't like it if Syria fights back, lebanon, or god forbid, Palestine? oh no, then israel has the right to just kill and target embasy's
The argument goes both ways. Which doesn't leave that many countries without a deeply hypocritical diplomacy.
Nicaragua is doing this because of Russia’s influence on it. Russia routinely uses Germany’s past in an attempt to manipulate it. In this case, Russia will claim that the current government in Germany is somehow neo-nazi and Germany is reverting to its past behavior.

Nicaragua's case is pretty flimsy. Not only does it essentially ask the ICJ to confirm that Israel is committing genocide, which they're already considering and therefore, WILL NOT give an opinion on that, but it's requesting Germany, an independent country, to IMMEDIATELY reinstate funding to UNRWA. It'd be like if a state basically forced another state to donate to an organization, which is completely up to that state to do or not. Also, Nicaragua can't even give pennies to UNRWA itself, and yet has the gall to demand another state do so.
I don't see why the case is flimsy, although I'll admit I have not the faintest idea how the ICJ works. Isn't the case that "Germany is aiding and abetting Israel in committing genocide"? The focus is on Germany's role as the accessory.
Why is it wrong for Nicaragua to ask that a highly developed nation power not retaliate against a humanitarian organization? Yes, Nicaragua is poor. No, it doesn't mean they cannot have demands.
@@ChasmChaos Germany's weapons exports to Israel consist in SUBMARINES!!!! Are submarines used in Gaza? No, the sewers are not large enough (sarcsam mode on).
@@ChasmChaoswell Germany made a pretty convincing opening statement yesterday. They basically said the same thing, as it hasn’t been confirmed yet that there is Genozide happening in Gaza you can’t perpetrate another country for abetting in it. Germanys military exports to Israel since the start of the conflict haven’t included any offensive weaponry and even though the donations to UNRWA were stopped the overall donations in humanitarian aid to Gaza were tripled since the start. It is very unlikely that it will come to a trial

It would be hilarious if Germany loses that case. When you try so hard to atone that you end up supporting the thing you’re atoning for lmao
They are just making the Palestinians pay in blood for there crimes
Nicaragua making a clown of themselves just like South-Africa.
Seems like Nicaragua should maybe look at itself and solve its own issues (cartels, massive corruption, migrant crisis, etc) rather than spend time taking another country on the other side of the planet to court on an issue that has nothing to do with them, but hey thats just my opinion.
Every country has issues doesn't mean they should be shut out of international politics.
@@spacemarine3482True, but being a autocratic and kleptocratic despoty oneself, as Nicaragua is, makes any accusation whatsoever ring hollow, regardless of merit.
@@spacemarine3482 Nicaragua is literally one of the worst countries on earth. It's having North Korea or irans opinion on this.
@@AL-lh2ht Bro Nicaragua is nowhere near as bad as Iran let alone North Korea 💀. Hope the state department pays you after all I would hate to see you work for free.
@@kurteisner67 The US is also an Autocratic Kleptocracy also I don’t care they’re standing against a genocide and should be supported.
Why can't I shake the feeling that many of the countries going to court don't do it because people die in Gaza...
Well I can tell you why. Bc this conflict involves jews.
Like sure, no one will admit this, but it's kinda weird how this conflict rages people all over the world. And it's not about the victims. Where were all of them when Assad used chemical weapons against his own people? Yemen? Over 400k deaths? Sudan?
Oh wait, this is boring, no jews involved.
Also just look at Egypt. Can you imagine closing the border and literally prevent people from fleeing bc "you don't want Israel to occupy Gaza " - like stfu, how can anyone just think it's about the people. And it's not really different in most Arab countries. The solidarity is just vocal, for some time. They won't help them financial, take refugees or do literally anything.
It's fascinating how this is not something ppl speak more about.

Or maybe it's because the Israeli regime is the world's last racist, colonialist fully fledged apartheid oppressive regime set up by racist, violent, arrogant European invaders during the era of European imperialism because all other such regimes were dismantled or got rid of their explicitly racist apartheid laws at least half a century ago with the exception of apartheid South Africa and even that colonialist regime was gone over three decades ago.
That is why the Israeli regime gets so much attention.
Not because the invaders/occupiers/oppressors are Jewish but because this horrific regime still exists and is still brutally oppressing the native people of Palestine many decades after similar colonialist regimes all disappeared.
As one Palestinian activist said Palestinians wouldn't be any happier if it was Christian or Muslim people brutally oppressing them.
They still would hate being oppressed regardless of the religion of the oppressors.
And no, we don't want to hear Zionists or Putin or the Chinese government ranting about how their barbaric actions now should be overlooked because of what happened to their peoples 80 years ago.

Germany and genocide?!? Must be confused...
I didn’t want to speak out on this issue, as Israel/Palestine is very complicated and most people get very passionate about it, but everytime I see something like this, it always invokes a special type of frustration in me
Because quite frankly, I would think of these UN cases a lot differently if it wasn’t always a desperately corrupt and authoritarian country doing them in order to distract the populace from their own problems. Yes, I know that the West’s hands aren’t clean, and that they use this strategy too, but in some cases - like this one - it’s so obvious that these corrupt countries just want to show how “moral” they are on the world stage, while also appealing to anti-Israel people, but they still continue their corruption and turn a blind eye to internal issues, in order to keep their power.
And before I get hate in the comments, I am not against these cases in general. It’s really important to decide for the international community just how to stop this mess, as it slowly turns into something more and more ugly, while calling out the side that often felt superior and beyond judgement. However, I am angry that these corrupt politicians get away with their misdeeds while showing how much they care on the world stage - and again, before someone says anything, the West can do this too, in fact, I live in a country with a corrupt, pro-Israel government that often uses anti-Arab sentiment to gain votes, so the other side does this too. However, I just hope one day that corrupt politicians who distract their population from their crimes by using something related to war get what they deserve one day - after all, it’s essentially what the current Israeli government is doing with its own war.
Also, I desperately wish Germany actually stopped being a pushover. Most of Europe has woken up already and is actively doing something to stop this horrible mess, while Germany still feels the need to protect what Israel is doing because of - history. Blindly supporting one side, even if the situation is complicated, does nothing to actually help the situation.
Genuine question, but is there a German guilt regarding the Jewish people?
Yeah especially the older ppl here want to support israel just because "we need to"
Very much so. That is why we today have a Germany that supports Israel unconditionally.
Not really "guilt" anymore but there is a general sense of responsibility to remember the victims, and protect Israel. But that doesn't mean most Germans like Netanjahu and his extremist government. Germany has criticized Israel many times over the years.
It's complicated and nuanced.
the guilt across europe for their past colonialism is far greater as they cant stand to say supprt of sharia theocracy or any theocracy is wrong, they cant even defend themselves and stop the islamist take over of europe.
all that while the turks and the muslims nations take pride of their colonial history and call it the "proud arab khalifat and ottoman empire" and mark the day of the contantinopole take over and the sacking that followed after . germany sadly falls in that category too but at least they are decent enough not to call ww2 "genocide against the japanese and german people by allied forces" because they had many civilians killed in that war
Germany sure has a bad habit of supporting genocide huh
Anyone who takes Gaza seriously is an enemy of man kind.
please use "pro life" instead of 'anti abortion'
'Anti-choice' or 'pro forced birth' would be more accurate.
@@skaldlouiscyphre2453 no, that would be even further away
@@MapperMalta Most of them aren't consistently pro-life, they're just anti-abortion and often anti-birth control.
@@MapperMaltaThe correct way to refer to anti-abortionists is indeed not "anti-choice" or "pro forced birth" but kidnappers.
Right wing religious extremists who call themselves pro life are very seldom actually pro life.
Generally they oppose tighter gun laws, universal health care , paid maternity leave, stronger rights for workers and unions, stronger regulations on corporations, tighter environmental regulations and other things that would save lives.
And a significant number of them don't believe in vaccines or public health measures that would save lives.
Not their first time going to court for a Jewish related reason.... once again, Germany is on the wrong side of history
Why does anyone take accusations from Daniel Ortega's governement about human rights violations serious. This man has committed human rights' violations himself, just as a majority of the countries that have supported hamas. Daniel Ortega is far-left and many in the far-left have supported dictators and genocidal regimes (of which Ortega's prior Nicaraguan government was also guilty). The far-left has supported movements like Hamas since the cold war reasoning they're anti-colonialist, eventhough these movements have rarely anything in common with peace-loving hippies.
Guess Germany learned nothing from the Nuremberg trails
Yet Nicaragua doesn't say anything on how many Ukrainians have been killed in Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Hypocrites, got no spine when it comes to who it should support.
Oh, there was something learned but the implementation went a bit overboard. Instead of protecting jews it went straight to supporting a country which is majority jewish (but doesn't represents all jews in existence, mind you) and calling all (even correct) critizism of the israeli government "antisemetic".
aside from the fact that a Hamas (terrorist) run organization cannot be relied on for causlaties, it doesnt even account for hamas troops killed since they dont account for them on purpose. If you look at the IDF low estimates of 13,000 hamas troops killed, then you get a ratio of 19000 civillians dead to 13,000 troops. this number is far better for example then when the US purged ISIS out of Mosul, where there was a ratio of 4000 enemy combatents to around 10,000 civilians. if this is 'genocide' then so is any basically any large scale war against terror.
Does this mean, there has to be a threshold before anything can be considered "genocide", given your calculation example, even 19,000 is "still" not enough? Only after it reached millions?
@@halimrahman this not genocide and the merely entertaining that fact in an insult to actual genocide victims. The IDF is far from perfect but my example highlights how the best army in the world cannot due a better ratio of causalities against a less prepared organization
@@princecommander5757 does this mean we have a cause for celebration?
Victims have to be white right? Others are only actors so people can "entertain" themselves.
The vast majority of independent observers have come up with similar casualty figures.
@@Talisguy you can say that but they can never get an accurate reading, they are not organized or consistently there. An example of their blatant faking of numbers is when their own rocket fell on a hospital, they declared absurd casualties in minutes after the bombing, only be to revised down and down until it was much less than the original figure
because they are insane
You'd think Germany would've learned its lesson the first time they had a genocide happen under their watch. "Never again" right? What a joke!
Well make it make sense, not again was about genocides, but there is no genocide. The joke is more ppl like you, constantly using this word without even knowing what it means.
But probablyan antisemitic Muslim,I see, not a surprise, just confirms my view on ppl like you.
you would have thought the european would learn from their history with islamism and jihad after conquest of sicily and spain, taking of contantinopole and ottoman invasion to viena and taking of the balkans(And the bllody wars to free it). but no,because of guilt over their colonialism(when muslims do it its just holy jihad) they cant stand up to islamism. instead they allow them into europe and fight to further their position in the middle east(maybe europe decided they dont need suetz canal and gulf energy supply). at least germany had the decency not to call ww2 "genocide against the german people " in spite of all the germans civilians that died...
