That white Mercury engine that dragged the skeg? Look carefully at the top of the cowl. Mercury likes to build their cowlings with a plastic cap to allow ventilation, and it is made of the

Plastic you can imagine! You can easily see how the two engines look different. I have a 2012 F90 and the cap on my engine broke apart in my hands! They want $280 for this cheap piece of plastic; I spent hours glueing my cap back together and it looks OK, but IMHO this is indicative of Mercury quality. Or lack thereof~

Maybe you could write up launching and recovery checklists (PDF), available free on your site, and for a couple dollars have red tags with "Install before launching" written on them? ;-)

Alfred, you were talking about the boat named hydrotherapy, and wanted to know how that name came about. Not sure, but when I lived in Bradenton before I moved to the mountains, I named my boat the "Menopausal Escape." I'm sure you can figure that one out.

Ok, so how many times do you see boats going out that do not look overloaded in any way, but the waterline is clearly 2-3" below the water? I saw at least two, and I am not talking about all the ones sporting an oversized outboard. : /
