  • With special permission from platform security, we were allowed to record the arrival, at 7.20sec, of the Royal Train (67005/006 ) and the Royal Party being greeted on the platform.....plus some freight!
    In part one of an excellent but very hot day we see various class 66s, of special note is 66162 going on the line north via Queen Street and 70806 with 2 log wagons passing through towards Newport. Due to being limited with our position on the Royal Platform I was just able to record the ecs move to Canton..part 2 soon...

      She has a bigger reception when she meets the City Mayor etc at the City Hall. Did you know she sleeps on the train rather than use hotels? There's a siding ( I know it well ) where the train stops overnight, closely guarded by the security services

      It's quite clear that the loco is a class 67, number 67005 ! Built in Valencia, Spain. One of 29 working throughout the UK since 1999. There's only one class 28 remaining from the 1950s; not in working order...Thanks for watching...Mike in Wales

    It arrives at 7.30 on the video clip. The carriages are special to the Royal Family. Very secure, strong build and special layout with carriages for security/officials who organise the visits. The locos are also used on other network services but their livery matches the colour of the Royal Stock. Hope this helps.

    • @TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways
      @TheMichaelWilcock2016Railways  6 лет назад +1

      The trains with the " long black cars " are transporting steel; which is covered to protect it from the rain.
      The squeals are caused by the wheels of passenger trains with fixed bogies ( wheels ) that rub against the steel rails The train at 14.00 is going up the Valleys to collect coal from Cwmbargoed for the power station at Aberthaw, See my video last month at Aberthaw.

      When the train arrives at Cardiff; its destination, the loco would have to detach from the carriages and run round to return the train to London. This will take time; so by having an extra loco on the rear the driver takes it back within 5 mins of arrival. Hope this makes sense to you?

    I'm not sure if retro is a good way to describe this beautiful train, but there is something great about the dark paint, the clean and lovingly waxed surface, and those rounded lines and deeper set windows. I recall seeing a matching steam engine in some videos, it could have been at the time of Lady Diana's death or the Queen returning from her Scottish castle.. I'm sure if my ancestors had not moved to the US in the 1880's I would be one of the cheering onlookers, with a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat when the Queen shook my hand or walked past me. It's what you have or haven't experienced that sets up normal. When I saw the plague that recorded the visit of the Queen, it occurred to me that the entire country is covered with such plagues representing the visits of a King or Queen Prince or Princess. I do however applaud those who might have removed those remembrances to that traitorous weasel Prince Edward when he made a visit in the brief time he wore a crown.
