- A nice feature on Pebble Mill of David Pickstone's Wild Mouse when it was at Brean Theme Park, Somerset, UK. In 1986 David saved the Mouse which had operated at Harbour Park in Littlehampton, UK from 1962 (originally owned by Butlins) and with the help of coaster enthusiasts re-built the ride. It operated until 1997 and is currently in storage.
I would love to see more of David Pickstone’s Wild Mouse coaster videos.
This looks like an interesting ride, if i can get permission to use footage of it ill do a defunct coaster series on it
coaster land yeah.
coaster land why not just contact RCCGB to use this footage.
@@zacharylunsford2 maybe I could
coaster land ok.
I loved the wild mouse as a kid at Filey and Skegness, of course all rides were inclusive so I kept on having a go, the queues were small. I remember the best bit was the track overhang on a really fast acute turn,, felt like you were going to fly off.
Yes I know, I wish I could ride it. Unfortunately I was born in early 1999, 2 years after this ride closed.
This segment was filmed in October 1990.
It should go to Dreamland.
Yeah, they should.
What manufacturer is this? I am in Australia and we have one of the last remaining wooden Wild Mouse's left at Luna Park Sydney ( we at one time had 3!!!) and they are great rides. This looks very unique- is it still in existence? can it be restored and rebuilt?
B. A. Schiff & Associates the company who makes Kiddie Coaster and Steel-track hybrid Wild Mouse. and in UK it was Butlins the company that B. A. Schiff sold the materials after they stopped making Large sized Schiff mouse coasters in America. There are no Ben Schiff Wild Mouse coasters left. Only one was standing but not operating was one at Eagle Park in Cache, OK.
@@zacharylunsford2 so this one is not in storage? Could it be reactivated?
Jobantus I don’t know.
This one was manufactured by Butlin. It was originally located at Littlehampton’s Habour Park (when Butlins Amusement Park) opened in 1962, This ride replaces the Big Dipper's wooden coaster. In 1985, this ride was closed and later relocated to Brean Theme Park (at the time Brean Leisure Park) in 1988, it was owned and operated by coaster enthusiast David Pickstone who first rode this ride when he was a child, and then in 1997 this ride was forced to closed down due to financial problems, and never relocated in other amusement parks. Tracks of this ride were stored in David Pickstone’s house in France.
Which one was better? This? or Magic Mouse?
This
@@rar321blue why this that?
@@zacharylunsford2 Just a genuinely scary and hairy ride..rougher than the modern versions..genuine 1960s Engineering..possibly the most efficient coaster design ever in terms of thrills/sq meter and thats why so many parks had them..
@@rar321blue did you ridden this at Brean Sands?
@@zacharylunsford2 Not that one..as i live in the North but other Schiff ones...saying that i rode the Ex Southsea one at Hayling when it was there so some connection..
