The story of Chris and his journey is really quite moving and whimsical, even though it did end in tragedy. It offers us an opportunity to look deeper into and reflect upon the reasons as to why he disconnected himself from society the way that he did. His journey is an inspiration, and an amazing example of what we all wish for but have not the courage to achieve. Utter, absolute freedom on life's great adventure. RIP Chris, you will live on.

So, I'm an aircraft structures mechanic and was wondering...Do IAs actually trek out into the middle of nowhere in Alaska to inspect GA planes that are assembled on someone's property a hundred miles from civilization? For those confused, that snow machine was hauling the fuselage of a small Cessna (I think it's a Cessna). It's going to be assembled somewhere and the FAA requires an IA (a mechanic with an inspection authorization) to inspect the completed plane before flight is legal. I also know that FAA regs are not a huge priority in Alaskan wilderness. I've heard a few times that duct tape and bailing wire are "required" items in an Alaskan aircraft mechanic's toolbox.

The Bus Needs to be placed in a Museum setting for 3 reasons. 1.) At least 1 individual has died and more than a few have required rescue while making the trek to Bus. It's a potential death lure. 2.) The Bus itself is over 72 Years Old. Repeated Visits by tourists will expedite the deterioration of the vehicle, or shrine, if you will. The windows have since been shattered, graffiti is everywhere, and locals have used the bus for target practice. 3.) The immediate surrounding Wilderness may end up trashed with garbage and vandalism. Forrest Fires may be a possibility too.
I don’t call him a hero there are so many people suffering from cancer ALS & other life threatening diseases & they just want to live they are the hero’s . He could have done something else there’s lots of help out there he should have valued his life more it’s obvious no one would survive that ordeal
@ 2:41, the same book i had ordered a week ago from amazon. This bus became a symbol for turning your back off modern society and try to live in harmony with the raw nature. The inside of the bus is also really interesting with the coal-burning stove, bed and the memorial plague from Chris family. I´m asking myself if you are somekind of professionell explorer, because you travelled with such heavy equipment? Anytime may be I want to go on the same trip, but definitely in the summer.
barrylyndon80 Actually, you probably have to go in the early spring. Otherwise the rivers will be impassable. It was the melting snow that swelled the rivers & made them impassable for Chris.
Dang that bus seemed still pretty much habitable in this video. Could the elements had blew the windows out and such recently cuz it looks uninhabitable in recenter videos.
Muito show Guilherme. Boas aventuras. Abraço!
Wonderful story but we are not animals therefore we aren't equipped to be in the wild,Nature didn't give us the abilities to thrive in the wild, learn from this man's story unless you wanna end up like him, enjoy your life no matter what it is and let Nature take its course..... Peace*
I'm curious do many people go there? I mean I'm sure they do but I just wonder if it's really touristy there now? I imagine teenagers like to hang out there and fuck around. Is it easily accessible? I'd love to visit.
Lol no, it's not at all EASILY accessible. This is actually a good thing to keep all the junk away. That bus is trashed already and it would not survive if some rowdy teenagers made it there. It's a 20 mile with very variable terrain, hike off of an actual road, and that also includes hiking across 2 rivers, one of which is the famous Teklanika river which prevented Chris from returning (and eventually lead to his death). Biking is not an option. I too want to go there someday but I don't think I'm physicially fit enough yet!
Rest in Peace Alexander Supertramp

Wow, I didn't realize how small it really was
It peeves me of how many people get it wrong "happiness only real when shared" 5 words!
Thanks for this Video 💓🌟 Christopher's Own Kingdom ...#Magic Bus
Dang that bus seemed still pretty much habitable in this video. Could the elements had blew the windows out and such recently cuz it looks uninhabitable in recenter videos.
Muito show Guilherme.
Boas aventuras. Abraço!
Bah, que show Guilherme!
Deve ser emocionante...
Parabéns chê! Abç
good video..nice job ! well done...mr Weber.
R.i.p Chris.
Did you have any problem crossing the rivers and creeks? I'm guessing they were still completely frozen over in march
Are those the moose antlers Alex cut off
How did he miss confrontation with grizzlies? How far in is the bus?
Ainda está aí os escritos dele?????? Geenteeee isso precisa ir para um museu e ser cuidado. Faz parte da história.
He did not tell.his family he was leaving and not to look for him. Very heartless. I feel sorry for his parents.
That was a good video. Thanks
The McCandless's were there the next day. You just missed them!
Um dia eu irei visitar o Magic Bus... Seria um sonho realizado.
Wonderful story but we are not animals therefore we aren't equipped to be in the wild,Nature didn't give us the abilities to thrive in the wild, learn from this man's story unless you wanna end up like him, enjoy your life no matter what it is and let Nature take its course.....
Peace*
nice post ive always wondered who used that bus before him and what happened to them ..?..chris never altered the bus it was already there
Is this song by Eddie Vedder?
How in the heck did that bus ever get there in the first place?
Mike Manners It was pulled by reindeer.
I believe you....
Alexander Supertramp would be happy u visited there.
Nice vid! What's the music dude?
Alexander Supertramp was AOK in my book.
Que canción es?

He was just one year older than my father.
❤
This was so sad, what happened to him was horrible
i was crying when watched this video
Hạnh Lem what you do fart!
Heart rendering.
Does anyone know where I can fond this song?
The reason the bus is "Magic" is because there was no way to drive it in there.
Michael Brook - Best unsaid
I did hear is 4 days to get there from your car
how the hell did a bus get out there, if it is so remote?
groggy greg the bus was there from a long time ago :/
I heard that the bus was used during the construction of the Stampede road.
Que legal, cara. Gosto muito da história e do filme. Tenho como objetivo fazer o que ele fez, mas ficar aqui pelo Brasil mesmo
Emocionante. Um dia também irei.
