The Sknyliv tragedy was one of the first shocks of my dreamy childhood. Then reality seemed to slap me, when after lunch on the day of the tragedy, I began to notice people passing through our yard from the Sknyliv airfield. They were all covered in blood and moving very hard. And then I probably thought for the first time about death and how close it can be to human life. It became awkward and butterflies began to fly in the stomach - but those that bring anxiety and panic.

He buries a box filled with symbols of the USSR, for which the old people are nostalgic: a sausage for 2.20 rubles, ugly porcelain fish-glasses (these were in almost every apartment), a bottle of vodka, a faceted glass, a can of fish sprats in tomato sauce, a Soviet newspaper . And all this is watered with the blood of the Ukrainian people, which was occupied by the USSR at the beginning of the twentieth century. And maggots crawl over all these symbols, as if showing that these symbols have long been dead and are already decomposing.

A bit late, but still.. All thise things are put inside a literal black box. And in planes black-boxes are recorders, purpose of which is to understand the reason of crash (as far as I know).

The random sounds in the song are actually real footage from the disaster spot. Sknyliv disaster already happened quite a while ago, but was a major disaster in Ukraine’s modern history.
Palindrom has a dozen of very deep and powerful songs more. Check out!
His very first breakthrough piece was “Не дожив”, devoted to the destiny of Vasyl’ Stus, poet and 60’s anti-communist activist, killed in prison, whose lyrics Stepan Burban (real name of Palindrom) actually used in that song.

I suppost that everyone will read their own metaphorical meaning in this clip. But every citizen of the 15 former republics of the ex Soviet Union, born before the year 90, will surely see more than others.
The protagonist carries a box containing the archetypal attributes of the USSR: boiled sausage, vodka in just such a bottle, a faceted glass from public canteens, salted fish, sprat in a tomato in a tin, a Soviet newspaper.
All this is sprinkled with the blood of the victims of the Bolshevik regime which killed, deprived of families and homes, and starved millions of people. Only in 1932-1933, in Ukraine, 5 million people died of artificial, induced famine, just because they were Ukrainians with their own culture and language.
In continuation, we see how footage of the Olympic bear from the USSR, the days of the great holiday of the Olympics in Moscow in 1980, meets with footage of popular repression in the struggle for freedom and independence.
There were certainly also some positive moments in the USSR, especially in its last 20 years before the collapse.
There were no poor or hungry people, because you could buy lunch for a few cents, the state could grant you an apartment on loan for use, if you held certain professional roles and above all, there was the appearance and that kind of feeling of being a large family, the largest family in the world, of 15 countries that spoke the same language, who went to each other's homes, celebrate everything together and who were strong enough to defend themselves from the evil, depraved and dangerous West. That's what the propaganda made us believe.
And the main real cause of this war today is the all-consuming, nostalgic sense of those times that putin and a large slice of the Russian population feels, because nothing has changed for them since 1991. For them, time has stopped. They have never democratized. They kept the national anthem, attitudes, sense of arrogance and the typical mania of grandeur.
Russian President has repeatedly stated that he wants to restore the USSR and that its collapse was the biggest mistake of the 21st century and his personal tragedy.
Throughout the history of humanity, the man above all other reasons, is willing to kill and die for ideologies.
But what the Russian president forgets is that we were part of the same history, we studied in the same schools, one time we studied on the same combat manuals in the army, so we know very well all the weaknesses of the system. But our biggest advantage is that we have moved forward, towards cultural, spiritual, mental and technological progress, where individual evolution and respect for the human beings are the fundamental values.
The past can never win over the future.
Sorry, Momo for being so long-winded. I was just carried away by the certain feelings and thoughts after this video.
Thank you for such a beautiful reaction ❤️

    Hi there.
First of all cheers to author and please continue doing such a good content! But I would argue band description below the video a little bit. Palindrom - is solo project of Stepan Burban. He is an ex-member of rap band called Glava94 (which also consisted of Sonnium and Gonya who are now also have solo projects). As I know from various interviews of stepan to Ukrainian media he does not define his music as rap :)
