it's a shame that you're already leaving there are so many wonderful things to see in France, all the regions of France in their charm and beauty, I hope that one day you will have the opportunity to come back.
Having worked on the maintenance and preservation of the original cave, I can tell you that there is no notable difference. In addition, in the original cave you have to wear waterproof clothing and an air rebreather mask and it's frankly not pleasant. this kind of astronaut outfit is the death of fun.
2:34 reminds me of the most heart-wrenching scene in Ice Age J' en ai encore la larme à l'oeil. Une mémoire de... mammouth? Thanks for sharing your trip. There's another fantastic place near Sarlat, it's Domme. It has a breathtaking view from its belvedere where you can enjoy a sweet Montbazillac white wine and its cave is also great.
Thanks for watching!! We love that this reminded you of Ice age :) lol. We are adding that to our list...white wine recommendations is always appreciated and encouraged here :)
It's been so long since I've watched this movie I forgot about that scene....SO SAD! Now I'm tearing up!!! And also going to go watch ice age tonight hahaha
@@collinandmeredith Sorry for making you tearing up but the artistry of the scene is remarkable, not to mention the full movie itself. Blue Sky Studios is a great landmark in anmation history, short-lived but very refreshing and innovative. Disney is effing up big time, they're accumulating faux pas after faux pas.
@@collinandmeredith Brittany is really nice during fall season, especially the coastline along the Mer d'Iroise (and the Abers also in the Finistère _département,_ some of the rare French fjords).
@@collinandmeredith I'm gonna share a "secret" location : if you have the opportunity to go to Le Conquet, ask to some people from this town where is located the "purple creek" ("crique violette" or "crique aux oursins"). It's a very small _crique_ but instead of sand or pebbles, you'll find crushed urchin shells that have turned pulple due to the sea water iodine deposit in the porous calcium carbonate.
@@collinandmeredith I appreciate that. We've been to France a couple times, but only briefly, so I may take you up on that offer at some point. Love the way you guys really embrace the experience (even when things may go a little sideways) and have such a great outlook on life- hold on to that. Wishing you all the best.

Lascaux is really a place to see. One of the most extraordinary place i've visited these recent years
We definitely agree! I really want to go back with my parents and share it with them.

Us too! We truly love exploring France and have so much left to see and do there. We'll be back this fall :)
You will always be welcome.
I'm living in the north of the France, but I have to admit that Dordogne is my favorite region.
We really enjoyed it! The north of france is the next region we want to visit ☺️
@@collinandmeredith In this case I advise you to go through by Chantilly in Picardie, my favorite castle.
So jealous!!! Caves are my favorite! Lascaux has been on my bucket list for years, so glad to know it is worth it and looks so authentic!
You definitely need to go check it out 😊

what a cool job you had! I'll pass on the astronaut outfits haha. Glad they made this replica so we can experience it without the extra gear!!

Lascaux II, the replica was built because the visits of people was literally destroying the painting, just by breathing inside.
Glad they built the replica to preserve the original one!! We just had no clue we were in a replica😂
@@collinandmeredith also because it was very well done, by scientists and artists. It was not as "Disney like" cave replica.
