Took sam ~2 minutes to do his entire draft. Took Cimo 30 seconds to decide between Deep Sea Diva with no targets and dark bribe. Basically these two in a nutshell.
Cimos videos would become exponentially better if he would cut back his dialogue or allow his editor to cut out 90% of his verbal diarrhea.
I remember progression season 1, where Gage played a new deck and Cimo played blacking for the whatever time in a row and Cino spent more time explaining his deck than Gage lol

Ok but real talk Cimo made some crazy Pegasus level reads. This was actually pretty good to show case just how good Cimo is.
After game 2 there wasnt hardly any trash talking either, just genuine respect. Sam low key humbled at the end.

Trag triggers in damage step when you take damage, monsters destroyed in battle do not leave the field until the end of the damage step, so doomcaliber is still technically on the field when trag triggers, meaning doomcal will negate it, even though its marked for destruction.
This is a "simple" game advertised to children you say?

@Dave2kool4skool Ab-so-lutely, the best part is these cards are both old, and come from a period of the game when card text would read select, and cards would constantly change from it targeted to it didn't target, back to it targeted, PSCT has helped the game a lot, as well as putting limitations on certain effects like (Cannot be used during the damage step) or hard once per turn clauses for effects by naming the card in it's effect text 'You can only use this effect of "Card Name" once per turn'.
The damage step is just a massive clusterfuck in general. 99% of the time you can ignore most of the intricacies, but when something like this happens that requires you to actually pick apart all the sub-steps it's just dear god why is it like this
It is only negating because its a mandatory.
You can't tribute Monster for cost that are destroyed during the damage calculation if it's an optional effect.

To be fair, pretty much everyone passes on them. Same with Blackwings. It's just too much of an ask to respect to build a whole strategy around them. Too much luck is required.
@@NovusIgnistbh glad beast is actually not that difficult to pull in this draft. I’ve done it a lot and usually am able to come out with a good core. The fusions are really what’s difficult to pull.
Blackwing tho is definitely hard to pull since they’re all rares or higher for black whirlwind and Gale.
@@Atlantafan21 That's my point though. There's no real payoff for Glad Beast, and all you can really pull reliably are the weaker low rarity stuff. Plus, they're still somewhat rare despite what you say. It's not like one is popping up in every selection of 3 cards. You might get a GB option every 5 pulls, maybe. That's not all that reliable. And some of those are going to be kind of garbage like Secutor.
@@NovusIgnis of course you’re not gonna pull a playset of all the good glad beasts, but it’s possible to pull at least some decent ones and have like a mini 6-7 card engine. Hoplomus at worst is just the biggest wall in the draft and he’s easy to pull. Laquari being a rare is fairly likely to pull one of in the draft. Especially if you get Bestiari or Murmillo early on, id say they’re worth trying to go in on.

The weird thing is, his first videos were about Six Samurai (although that was back in (cmiiw) 2011/2012, so it wasn't during Edison). But still, I would assume he knew at least a little bit about Edison because of Six Samurai.
He's a modern tournament player
He drafted and played terribly. You don't pass up Burden of the Mighty, especially for Doom-Often-Fucks-You-Caliber, that's all I'm saying.
You also don't go -1 to Synchro after Brain Control BEFORE going to the BP especially when the card you took has a freaking hand rip and you have D.D. Warrior Lady to ensure you get through the face-down.
These are just the ones that most erked me, there are tons more. And since he is all about shit talk, I don't feel bad saying he is awful, bad, absolute trash. :)

When trag activates, doom cal is marked for destruction but it is STILL on the field. So that's why it negates trag.

The first battle doom cal trag negate. That's one of the dumb things about yugioh, even though damage calc already happened and Doom Cal was selected for destruction it still gets to activate it's effect because it hasn't been destroyed yet.

I was confused about the Doomcaliber Trag interaction, so Doomcal's effect is mandatory, ANY monster effect activates and you HAVE to tribute it to negate.
Yes, monsters destroyed by battle don't fully leave the field after damage, so because you take damage, trag triggers and doom negates it since it's still on the field

Gosh, I went back through the vid and Sam definitely needs to slow down the drafting a bit. I know he probably doesn't know the cardpool or the drafting meta that well, but at the same time some of these deck building decisions... He just got Glads sitting in his deck doing nothing, took Trag with no tributes for if he gets it mid/late game, as with taking Fader over Zaborg without any follow-up for it, passed Smashing Ground and has an Iron Wall in a deck with multiple copies of D.D Warrior Lady and Chaos sorc. And I don't believe I even saw his decision for taking Transmigration prophecy, although I can't fathom how bad the choices must of been for him to take it.
Overall, I think it was a solid attempt, but sometimes it's good to check your draft for synergies or important gaps in your deck before simply comparing how good the 3 cards in front of you are in a vacuum. As well as the quality of less shiny cards like Fissure, Dust Tornado and Trap Hole that assist with the lack of removal commonly offered in drafts.

Nah. I like Edison. GOAT format is too archaic, and the modern ones are just too boring to watch with endless combos. Maybe if the drafter had a truly random mode, then it would make for some great chaotic content.
