For the all master duel set it should give 5 - 10 options. The card pool is just too big to make a somewhat cohesive deck

See, that is reasonable. Most of the pools are reasonable with 3 cards to choose, but all of MD is too large to limit to a 3 card pull

I have an idea which might not be the most fun, basically deck drafting:
1. Both players choose any 10 cards before hand, and then show it to each other
2. Both players ban 10 cards each and then show it to the opponent
3. Both players MUST USE at least 10 cards (multiple copy doesnt count) from the total of 20 cards drafted from step 1 and MUST NOT use any cards from the banned list (phase 2)
4. Both players can add ANY CARDS to the deck as long as the requirement from 3rd phase is fulfilled
Maybe some additional rules : no hand-traps during phase 1, agreed cards: Maxx C, Ash, Imperm, Veil, Droplet, Grave, Nibiru (players can still use them as long as its not banned during banning phase/step 2)
The real reasons sam wasnt invited: not only does he suck but he also cheats in like every series

Yusei in 5ds beat skilled opponents twice in duels using decks considered trash. He used the 'treasure' deck to beat bolt tanner in the facility and he beat a deputy head of the local school who was an ancient gear user, with a deck made up of mostly random cards given to him by the children. Proof no card or deck is worthless.
